Really... I think the golden age is just begining, Half Life 2, Battlefield 2, Halo 2... the list goes on, and by the way I don't really like any of those games you mentioned, I prefer first person shooters over anything else, and it may not be the golden age of platformers, or anything like that, but the age of the FPS is coming...

Edit: Oh, and Pokemon sucks... (no offense... I just hated it, or any other card game thing from the very begining).

I really wish that the FF series was still around in a non girly/MMORPG way. FF7 is such a great game, I think as great as Halo, possibly as great as Halo 2.

Yeah, I didn't really like Mario or anything. Pokemon I was in to, but just for collecting the cards. But then they started going over board, started losing creativity. Now the best thing they can think of is - ooo...a lamp monster....they're not even trying anymore.

I think we may be in the golden age of Xbox, or of FPS, or of more mature games.

The Video game was awsome until we had second graders who liked it. The card game was iffy.

Halo, Ninja Gaiden, Wolf, Wacked(Just for when you needed a laugh), and others are all great games i don't think there ever was an end to the golden age of video games, only a begining thanks to pong(You can't tell me that game was bad).

first off i went back and played golden eye not to long ago and the game ran so slowly compared to all the other games i found it hard to play, super smash bros was the best and melee come cloce to the orgional greatness of that game by adding more features. perfect dark is so gittery with 8 sim bots and it is imposiable to play now that we are tuned to the beauty and frame rates of current systems. i dont care if you didnt think that super mario sunshine was a bad game because i thought it was very good also i loved lugies mansion as for any FF games i have never played them so i woudlnt know. legend of zelda ocarina of time was one of the best games ever i have beaten that game many times including once on the game cube (you can buy that game for game cube beleive it or not) windwaker was a great game as well but it was way to short. and when you say that halo is the only good game out or one of the few you obviously have never played metroid prime and computer games are becoming better and better what i am trying to say is altough there were many classic N64 games that are great the golden age of gamming is only begging those games paved the way for better and more creative games to come they were revolutionlary at the time and now that some games seem like remakes of all the old ones you think that no new ideas are being thoguth off but they are great games are in the making and video games in the next 5 years (my guess) will go to a whole new level of FUN AND ENTERTAINMENT because that is what they are about. i can agree with you in the fact that video games are becoming more mature but that is only in your mind. you only PLAY the more mature game now (probably) but there are plenty and i mean pleanty of imature 10 year old games that are not violent and are probalby as fun to them as halo is to us.

Who got owned.

BTW, I still think Mario Sunshine sucked. Mario 64 was a great game, Smash Brothers was... but not Mario Sunshine (note: my favorite Mario games were the classic ones... those are awesome hehe...).

...Nice quote from Family Guy

[/sarcasm]

Those were good game for their time, but now theres newer and much better games, yes we should remember the old game like goldeneye, pong and mario, but there just not fun to play anymore! what would you rather play, halo or mario bros 3 or whatever, I'd pick halo, its just not as fun anymore, same as goldeneye, its really not that fun anymore.

Oh ya, and you want revolutionary, we can look at any games before our time and call them "revolutionary." The only truely revolutionary ones were the first of their kind (Wolf 3D, that was revolutionary). And therefore I still say the golden age is just beginning, with Halo, and all those games. Even RPG's, they are starting to over so much freedom, Fable is a good example.

the Age has only begun, take Halo2, Fable, Splinter Cell 3, Jade Empire, Half-Life 2, and other games for example.

The Golden Age is here or is yet to come! Think this is one of the best gaming years since...along time!

I'll be on my own side.

who the hell cares about the "Golden Age"?? it doesnt make the games any less badass. Halo 2 will kick ass, even if it was the Dark Ages of video games

There are no irrelevant quotes of historical figures here. Neither will you find any links, chain posts, memes, clan advertisements, self-promotions, or the tiniest of ASCII pictures.

So go away.

-sniff- I think I'm going to cry...

That's what happens when a good thing is replaced by a new thing. Pretty soon, we'll all be old geezers telling our grandkids about the way video games we're when we were their age.

If you've listened to Peter Molyneaux at all, he contends that the golden age of graphics are declining, and it is developers fault for putting the entire emphasis of the game into graphics. He say we should be thinking about new input devices...

Anyways, if there is going to be a second age of gaming, I'm fairly certain it will come from Nintendo. Believe me I love Xbox, and Halo, but I think Nintendo is looking ahead. Take the DS for example.

"mario and pokemon are crap.

lol no really, i hate that kind of game, and i hate all N64 games with a few exceptions. and i hate all gameboy games...

and like its been said, the goldenage is just begging. not ending."

That is the stuipdest thing I've heard on the forum today. Give respect to the classics.

I agree. Most people like to pick on the gamecube, but Nintendo is old and wise enough to be looking ahead at the evolution of gaming, while most others are merely concerned with their next big release.

Actually I did like Playstation more than N64... going back on topic...

How will it come from Nintendo if they still say it isn't time for online console gaming? Explain that.

Edit: Right now, it is my belief that Nintendo is behind in the evolutionary chain. Times change, and because Nintendo was the greatest in the past, doesn't mean it will remain. Look at Sega as an example.
