Dead or Alive 3's storyline was crap...I don't even think that there was one although there are references and stuff. And the game was great. Why was it great? It wasn't innovative...oh boy u can slam people into walls and change backgrounds...it was great because of graphics. It was an Xbox launch title which could really show off the console's potential.

Can you name a few... I'm at a lost... the last game I played that I liked a lot was Call of Duty (which is a PC game).

BTW... I hated RS3 for Xbox... unknown reason...

Yes The PlayStation did last longer than the N64 -- the PlayStation is still technically retail, until they get rid of the PSones... but it's only 9 years so guess again!!

E.T. on the Atari was voted worse game of all time by Electronic Gaming Monthly...followed by Superman on the N64

As said before -- yes there were - but the ratio is way way worse today than the Nintendo age, but slightly better than the end of the Atari Age.

i care about storylines. Im not playing some FPS game that has no interesting storyline that twists and turns. A game can have great graphics and cool weapons but for me no good storyline = no game. And Halo was the best storyline Ive ever seen in a game, i thought stuff like that could only be written in a book, all the twists and truns! And in Halo2 Im looking foward to the stoyline.

So in other words Mario wasn't for you : )

I just had to make that little point... name me some good old games with good storylines (other than RPG's).

No, Mario was for me. i guess what im trying to say is, i like Ghost Recon, Ninja Gaiden, James Bond, etc. but for me its just that little boost of a good storyline that makes the game even better.

LOL OK The answer is - The Atari 2600. It was a retail selling system from 1977 to 1991. A 14 year reign.

All those old game characters that we used to like (Mario,Kirby,Megaman,Zelda,Crash..etc) are dead or dieing. With all these new games they're aimed at MTV teens, and now liking Mario or anyone else is -blam!-..... Not that I think that myself its just the new Gaming generation are some what priks....sorry

I must say I very much agree. Storyline adds a lot to a game. And I am yet to see a game that even matches Halo in storyline, ( I used to think MGS has a good storyline but MGS2 killed it...)

Yeah i loved nes but you gotta realise now that we have higher expectations. back then a new side scroller that was slightly different then the one before it was great. Now we want entire cinematic quality experiences. you also run outta new ideas believe it or not. Look at movies today very few are fresh most are borrowed ideas used over and over. It gets harder and harder to come up with something brand new.

IMO Nintendo has gone totally...erm... purple . Whats with Mario Sunshine? And why are their cd's so small? Because they are trying to appeal to 8 year olds. They sacrafice graphics, online play, and 5.1 surround sound for cartoonized smiling sunflowers. Besides Eternal Darkness, basically the only M rated violent game on the Gamecube are multiplatform games.

I guess you are right... I just made bad decisions in games I bought for my Xbox... and now it is too late because it would be pointless as Fable comes out soon (hopefully) which will keep me busy before H2.

However, I own Riddick and that game is really great, I didn't even think the storyline would be good but it was pretty awesome.

MSG has a great storyline if you are willing to understand it... however MGS2 storyline sucked so much it took down the first game with it.

  • 08.12.2004 6:02 PM PDT

for each espn game the other is practially trash. its almost like you have one, OOO look another! DISCARD, GAIN, PLAY. Or at least thats what it seems like to me. if thats not the case, enlighten me.

Riddick is good but not great,
Ninja Gaiden is great bit the 8-bit games on the NES were WAY better,
Wolfenstein has a neat Multiplayer on Live - but it's a poor game compared to Unreal or Halo,
KoToR suffered from bad framerate, but it will be a classic because it's a great game.
Splinter Cell , and SC:Pandora Tomorrow are OK but not great - they are too easy, and there's no replay value.
Sports games can't really be considered for the classic title anymore -- not since they started coming out yearly.Tecmo Bowl still owns.
RalliSport - No good -- Gran Turismo still kills it for overall innovation.
Midtown madness? You are smoking...something.
Gotham Racing 1, bad game - Gotham 2 - Good, but still no GT.
Halo - will be considered a classic. and
MechAssault would be much better if they had kept the MechWarrior Gameplay instead of making it a generic 3rd person shooter.

Riddick was a good game considering that all movie/superhero games suck, I was suprised that it was well done voice acting, faces, game play, and graphics are all great!
