Lot's of Halo 2's multiplayer features sound great, but there hasn't been much discussion about having teleporters like in Halo one. It doesn't seem like they are on any of the maps so far though...

I sort of like teleporters, I think they should have them, but only in some maps. Not like in Halo 1 how they were in every MP map exept for Longest.

Ya... teles are nice, and add to the strategy (how you could block them). I would definitely like to see them return (of course not on all maps).

I'm cool with teleporters, but PLEASE!! I don't want another Chiron map. That level is so freaking annoying!

Chiron was bad, seeing as there was little time between a teleporter to another one, your opponent could literally run away for like 5 mins.. till you kill them, or if they get away!

I've heard the levels seen so far have <GASP> stairs and elevators, things not seen in Halo. Also, the one of the levels had platforms that would send you flying with a gust of air up to another level, sounds weird....but interesting

I'd like to see teleporters but it'd be even better if they had an option where you could turn them off.

I don't like the idea of teleporters, I think there should be some sort of fast transportation on foot, I just don't know what they could use.

Yea I don't know how realistic that "gust of air is" to simply blow MC into the air and up a level.

Yeah it doesnt sound realistic, but if what I read is true, and it id in a level, I'm sure it wont be explained as air. It could be like a magnetic thing, some force that sends you up. Course if it is there it doesnt need to be explained, no one knows why the porters work, they're there.

I think the Elevator is so people (with bad handling) can go up and mainly down without killing themselves, sometimes when I play with new guys they lose the game cuz they can't get up the ladder fast enough without getting shot or falling.

Ah, the blessed ladder game, you lose that in the wrong level (Prisoner or Sidewinder) and it's nearly instant death. It's like a mini-game everytime you go up a level

no cus people will camp out by them and shoot u as u come though them.

so it will suck as it is on live know

but i don't really care

  • 08.13.2004 1:42 AM PDT

I'll be on my own side.

i dont think there will be teleporters because im sure a lot of the MP maps will be on Earth,in human made structures.maybe if there are a few Forerunner-built maps, but even then there should be an option to turn them off. same for power ups

Teleporters are useful because they can add emphasis to attacking or defending. If there is a one way teleporter leading out of the bases (like in BG) then it means that it is easier to get to the other base and attack them, but it is also easier for the enemy flag runner to escape. It also adds strategy, it's great if you can block the enemy teleporter with a ghost, and then camp in a scorpion tank, and your allies take half as long to get to the enemy base, this is when you know you're winning.

I'm with you on powerups though, the overshield especially was very cheap.

Yea, teleporters are cool, but in some maps they are anoying. But I love sitting in teleporters and hitting people in the back of the head on Battle Creek when they think they're gunna score lol. But theres enough new stuff in halo 2 thats good enough even if teleporteres arent there.

I don't like teleporters personally. I didn't think they fit in the game. If you want to get around in a big level take a vehicle, in a small level, RUN! I think there is enough strategy. Take out the teleports and there will just be different strategies, and I think better strategies. Maybe people will work like a team to get their flag instead of a guy sneaking around through the teleports. No teleports keeps the action focused, instead of zipping all over a level.

If there are any teleporters, there should only be one for each base. Chiron was fun, but WAY too many. Now that I think about it, there is no need for them any more. Just boost in a ghost of take a warthog. Or be like everyone who gets sniped and walk.

Teleporters are forerunner technology so they wouldent be used on earth MP maps or Covie ship maps ether. If there was MP maps on a Halo then I think teleporters would be on them.
