Since Halo 3:ODST took place during Halo 2, then instead of there only being Brutes as the main enemy, shouldn't Elites be there as well? Because in Halo 2 the Elites were still the main enemy but the Brutes were introduced in Halo 2. I know that the Elites left the Covenant, but that was later in Halo 2's campaign. Here are some weapons that should have been in ODST. (I'll add more once I think of them.)
1. Battle Rifle
2. Energy Sword

This is just a simple question that I would like to be answered. So does anybody know why this is so?

Maaaayyyybbbbbeee cuz the elites were off fighting on Delta Halo? And the prophets preferred brutes so maybe they wanted them on Earth to lead the invasion and protect the ark (which was on earth). So yeah basically the elites weren't on earth, or they were and the brutes killed them cuz you can find dead elite bodies around the city.

Remember that during the ODST campaign you find dead Elites on the ground who were killed by Brutes (not sure how Brutes could kill Elites...). What's weird is that the Elites and Brutes are allied throughout Halo 2 despite the fact that ODST takes place at the beginning of Halo 2. Maybe the Sangheili insurrection didn't spread everywhere, but it does seem like a bit of an inconsistency.

Recon armor was not gifted or bestowed upon me. I earned it through blood, sweat, and tears. Road to Recon complete, on to the next challenge. Halo 3: 1750/1750, ODST: 1000/1000, Reach: 1400/1400.

*Sigh* Full explination below.

Bungie answered this long ago. The reason being is because the Brute and Elite fleets were segregated and so the Elite's did indeed leave for Delta Halo while the Brutes were stuck with the leftovers. Also the Great Schism began as indicated with the Elite corpses found in the champaign.

This would explain the lack of engery swords. The reason there are no Battle Rifles is explained in the books. The BR's are actually a prototype weapon that were only found on Reach. This is why they aren't in the first Halo either. After Reach was glassed the BR's were put into mass production but of course that sort of thing takes time and isn't going to reach the entire fleet overnight.

Even if the USS Say My Name was outfitted with the new weapons, they weren't going to be issued them anyway as their primary objective was to infiltrate and capture the Prophet of Regret's ship. This mission mostly being close quarters combat, the ODST's were instead outfitted with the standared assault rifles, shotguns, and newly modified SMGs with silencers. If you listen to Buck in the opening cutscenes he implies this.

But the real reason there is no BR and Energy Sword is because Bungie didn't want players using them. They wanted players to feel vulnerable with close quarters, in your face combat and the BR didn't allow for that as it was able to dispatch enemies from a distance too easily. The same concept applies to the energy sword in close combat, they didn't want players using a one hit kill weapon. If you pay attention you'll notice there aren't any gravity hammers available outside of Firefight.

I may be a Recruit but that doesn't mean i suck.....I can still take you down...

Or When the ODST arrived The Prophets Ordered the Elites Dead and Chief was on High Charity when this all ended?

Thanks. I did not know this. BTW, now that I think about it, there aren't any Hammers except for in Fire Fight.

No, but nice try. BRs were around before Harvest got glassed.

Whatever, The Fall of Reach was written by Eric Nylund while Contact Harvest was written by Joseph Staten. I'm not going to argue cannon discrepancies between two authors. The Fall of Reach came first and was a better book, I'm gonna go with that one.

Remember towards the beginning of Halo 2's campaign, you (Master Chief) are above New Mombassa in a Frigate. And then when the Prophet of Regret went through the Slip Space portal, it caused a, well IDK. But this same scene is even repeated in ODST. So ODST does, in fact, take place DURING Halo 2.
