I'm pretty close to fully maxed now. Just a few more.... precisely will be a long road... same with super soldier....

Focus Rifle for Precisely isn't bad, the vid's in my file share, but not in the first post yet. And yeah, Super Soldier does suck. I ended up just doing target locater, and reverting after the first missile. It went pretty fast for the last like 3,000.

Precisely(A) focus rifle method now posted.

Dude you should alter the difficulties because you don't earn commendations on easy.

Otherwise, AWESOME THREAD is AWESOME.

Although its a good guide if you want to boost... I personally laugh at people who play the game to farm credits. Why some people want to bore themself to death with checkpoint reverting the campaign is beyond me.

Ok, I've found a more reliable way to do the Pinpoint commendation.

Instead of having to 'lure' the grunts to you, then turn 180 degrees, crouch and zoom in on a grunt's head, which honestly takes forever to set up properly, I've found a new guaranteed way to do it.

At the sloped-rock-wall facing the bridge that you stand in front of at the start of your video...
Turn around, SPRINT up that rock to get onto a ledge - there will be a metal platform and a pointy rock in front of that.
Jump onto the pointy rock, crouch and face the bridge. Also, turning on night vision makes headshots easier.

Now, simply wait for the checkpoint whilst zoomed in on a grunt's head. Never fails.

Try it.

Also, a question.
Does maxxing out a commendation count towards commendation progress %?

  • 10.17.2010 3:09 AM PDT

For precisely and standard issue where do you get the plasma repeater/focus rifle?

But how do you time the checkpoint? Part of the running away is so you can have them stop shooting you at an appropriate time. Sure, its a pain to time, but you can get it perfectly.

We are soldiers without borders, our purpose defined by the era we live in. This is our Heaven, and our Hell.

I've downloaded your videos off of the file browser. You are a Commendation God.

Focus rifle is like right at the beginning when you start from "mission start," and there's a plasma repeater on the ground right around R.P. alpha.

Focus rifle is right here, and like Clappy said, there's a plasma repeater by where you kill the elites at the beginning or rally point bravo.

How many cRs do you have i3utteRzZ's? Boosting for commendations is not a ban able offense is it?

Nope, Bungie has said a few times that there's nothing wrong with playing the same checkpoint over and over. I've spend ~120K cR, and right now I'm just shy of 700k.

When crouching on that rock, the checkpoint will trigger at the same time, every time (this will be as they reach the end of the bridge).

They will never get close enough to shoot you.

I'm not sure I know what you're talking about...but another benefit of doing it my way is that the grunts are the closest they can be to you (without anything in-between) when the checkpoint triggers, and obviously with bloom it's easier to get headshots if you don't have to shoot as far.

And when you do it for hours at a time, its great if you get it right.

But obviously you can do it however you like.

Working on a slightly different nice arm method right now...expect an update soon.

Thanks for the guide. I think the War Machine / Right of way technique is particularly useful. I would like to add my own observasions on some of the ideas. The phantom load of grunts on package bravo can be used more effectively (I feel). They can be used for precisely and pinpoint. (You spawn with the DMR). But you describe starting the level earlier in order to get automatic and pistol kills. You spawn rally point Bravo with an AS which can be used for the auto kills on this checkpoint. Also if you run to the furthest gun rack next to the lab, you can pick up a pistol then mongoose over toward the Grunts. No need to start earlier in the level. Eight headshots later and small arms and pinpoint are helped. Also I think this check point is good for the grenade challenge. Several people say about the Nightfall triple kill check point but you can do the package grunt check point, throw 2 grenades quickly and get 8 kills.
