US Only?
i am disappoint
:(

Legal issues prevent this competition from being global.

With the imminent release of the Noble Team Map Pack our job is wrapping up but yours has only just begun.

This is the line that stood out for me the most. Seems too early for Bungie to pass the torch for DLC. Let's hope it doesn't mean just that.

In fact, there are several! If you visit XForgery or ForgeHub, you can post your map there and get the experienced folks to help you out with your map design, spawn and weapon placement, and other similar things. It's been a while since I was on ForgeHub, but I'll admit they have some really good forging tutorials. XForgery tends to have a slightly higher caliber in the main user base, though, and brings that caliber to a much more accessible level. You should check 'em out. ^_^

Thanks a lot, very helpful! Both sites seem like they'll suit my needs just fine.

TL;DR

And I can NOT stress the TOO LONG enough!

  • 10.14.2010 8:26 PM PDT

It's understandable that legal obligations dismiss countries other than US entering.
However, surely there could be some alternate competition for rest of world to win in-game prizes such as armoury items.

I am disappoint.

A Banshee is a raping machine if you know how to use it properly.

Thank Microsoft and the legal department for that...

Give In To The Voices...KILL THEM ALL!!!

It sucks that it's only for the US.
I think it'd be great if they made another sub category for us foreigners. Obviously we wouldn't get any physical prizes like the 360s but it would be cool to maybe get either microsoft points, masses of experience or probably my fav idea cool unlocks. I doubt they'd give us the cool blue flaming helmets they have but it would be nice if maybe next time around we got something special, like the old recon armour, just something to show a big achievment in the community.
All i ask is we get a separate category for non-US residents. I'm sure the legal department could find a way around that and any prizes they gave out to us would be way cheaper than the US ones.
Anyways good luck to everyone who enters this comp. Hope to see some cool maps in matchmaking when this is over.

-blam!- you. -blam!- Microsoft. -blam!- Bungie.

That sounds great! Too bad I suck at forge.

AWWWW

Can't you open the contest to Canada? Is that so hard? I'm one of the highest rated map editors on Farcry 2 and now I can't get to show you my skills.

Does anyone know how to group all related files together on you Halo Reach/Bungie.net File share?

Agreed, I can't imagine Bungie only making one map pack!
:.(
I hope we are just reading too much into this.

In the future you don't rebuild; you reload.

US residents only fail :(

Eh, it got my hopes up.
That's twice now us non-US residents have missed out on something like this.

Can someone please explain why we are not allowed to enter? I cannot comprehend that there is any legal bindings which stop Microsoft or Bungie for that matter from compensating for fans who live outside the USA and have just as much reason to enter as any US citizen does.

Please, someone elaborate.

Other than that, good luck to anyone who enters, I guess. Make something nice, something I'll enjoy, something we can all enjoy. Don't blow your chances when so many of us are missing out on this.

Cheers

I've noticed this with other US based website competitions like Roosterteeth as well. My guess is that in case something goes wrong they would have the US law to protect them, however if the contestent lived in a different country then that law wouldn't apply. Well that's my guess anyway, but i'm fairly certain Bungie isn't restricting the competition because they don't like the rest of the world.

If someone outside the US submits a map - can it still win the 'competition' (minus the prize)?

  • 10.15.2010 1:52 AM PDT

>>>>>>>>>>>>Each Entrant must be an individual who is a legal resident of the United States and at least 17 years of age.<<<<<<<<<<

I was thinking about entering one of my maps into the contest when I noticed this section into entering into the contest.

Does this mean it only for those in the USA to enter?

If so Isn't that a bit unfair to all those living outside the USA whom are amazing at using Forge World on Reach? Cause I got a map that I wanted to enter and seeing this sunk my hopes to seeing one of my maps making the possible grade to getting in...

Please let me know if this is the case or not... and hope that BUNGIE could work around this to allow people from outside the states to enter as well. it only fair since the game is world wide.

  • 10.15.2010 2:32 AM PDT

i cant forge ^^

  • 10.15.2010 2:44 AM PDT

US only ? That's a big fail. You could have so much more quality maps if only anyone could enter the contest. Oh well, I guess I won't have to submit the maps I'm forging then... Too bad...

  • 10.15.2010 2:47 AM PDT

a hope that a win with my map its looks greate check it out

  • 10.15.2010 3:02 AM PDT

Aww... US only....
i made a great invasion map the other day, it would have been perfect for this
