1. Prior to release, I added it to the list because I have seen many people complaining about it.
2. No I do not act surprised that they are trying to make money, I stated that I understand that, but making money by producing quality new content (as was the case in H2 and H3) and making money by RE-selling the already PURCHASED DLC as half of the multiplayer maps and then charging 2 months later for actually NEW content is a little low. Why couldn't they make new content then sell remakes again? That seems like it would make more sense? My guess is because they knew that the community could forge just as well as them and would make those remakes for free.
3. Really? Is it? Then why isn't the community getting paid for every map that they make that is played? This logic makes sense but not in these parameters. They should have put this work into the shipped version of reach. THAT is what the $60 (or more depending on the copy you got) was for.. It wasn't paying to get remakes (things I can do myself in forge-that I wouldn't get paid to create) of things we paid extra for in the previous games.
4 & 5. You kind of contradict yourself between these two, possibly you did not word it how you meant it? You agree that its stupid how they become mandatory in 5 but in 4 you say "don't feel like you HAVE to have there maps. If you don't want to spend money for these maps, then don't, it's actually very VERY simple. You can keep playing.... MULTIPLAYER and EVERYTHING ELSE" No.. You couldn't in H3 and I'm assuming (since they are after money) that they will do the same here.
I am not acting like I am better than anyone, I'm stating the rebuttal to all of the people who think they are better because they like this. And because they like it they think that no one should be allowed to complain. I am simply stating WHY people are complaining and have the right to. I'm not saying that people who enjoy Reach or these maps are stupid. Please realize that people saying "stop complaining Reach is good" are the ones who think they are better... Because they are telling people who do not agree to shut up. The people complaining arent saying "Stop playing reach everyone stop praising the game because its a piece of crap" they are stating THEIR frustrations to BUNGIE, not to you or anyone else.
Bungie isn't "catering" to anyone.. If they were catering to the people who kept them afloat for so long then ironically that WOULD be catering to me and the competitive multiplayer groups. They went soft and listened to all the kids who couldn't achieve a 50 in Halo 3. So they followed CoD and made it so that the longer you play you will eventually rank up, technically no skill required. They also changed all the gameplay of halo with AA's which in a sense give a feel of CoD. I understand they are branching out to reach some of the CoD kids, but the price they are paying is disgruntling a lot of Halo fans who stuck with them because they weren't like Cod and because if they want to play a CoD style game they will play... CoD. Simple.
"The people who would gladly give a cheap ten dollars up for a quality service and product given to them." VERY subjective. That's the reason people are complaining. They do not believe it is a quality game.
And if I don't apply to either of the two groups then there must be more groups out there then you realize, right? Remakes are necessary (in your opinion) to cater to older crowds... I enjoyed the older maps as I said I love sanctuary, want ot see headlong, i love lockout (blackout was pretty good), I wish elongation were in H3, I enjoyed the hang em high remake.. but H3 was a GOOD game of HALO not watered down CoD, that is why people are upset. Again I am not telling you or attacking you saying that you shouldn't like the game. I am saying like the other people stating negative opinions on the game, that we feel betrayed by bungie in a sense because we kept them afloat pouring money into them and going to events supporting halo (mlg) keeping it alive and then they don't really give much to the competitive players. That's all Im saying. If firefight or invasion were things that had kept halo and bungie afloat for so long I would be overly greatful that they gave us a lot of new content for it.. But that isn't what halo has been about for Bungies WHOLE TIME so why change on their last game?
What is the exact date, if you know? It makes a huge difference, considering maps take a few months to make usually, and that August 2nd, I believe it was, the game went gold, meaning that nothing could be added and they were starting to mass produce the game. Which is probably when they started working on these maps.
Why would players get paid for making a forge map? That seems ridiculous. You do realize it takes months to make an entire map from the ground up like they do with these releases? Be they remakes or new maps.
And regarding 4 and 5, it's not contradictory. By "EVERYTHING els" I was meaning the theatre options and any of the extra stuff in the game, that didn't entirely pertain to multiplayer. The map packs did LIMIT you in Halo 3, but the multiplayer was still playable after that even for those who didn't have maps. If you don't buy the maps, expect to be limited, it's just how it is and how things become fair.
It makes sense to me that they would prioritize the players who are actually buying the content for the game.
So in that aspect, you don't NEED or HAVE to buy these maps to continue playing multiplayer, although you will be limited.
It's not that we think you shouldn't complain, it's just you're not complaining about something that is an actual problem. You're pulling in self-entitlement, thinking that these maps are YOURS, when they are actually not.
""The people who would gladly give a cheap ten dollars up for a quality service and product given to them." VERY subjective. That's the reason people are complaining. They do not believe it is a quality game."
It is subjective, and if people don't think it's a good game, then sell it and save your money. Why are you complaining about having to spend money on maps again..?
I can understand to some degree what you mean that the Armor Abilities are similar to COD in some fashion, but I disagree that it gives the game a "COD feel", I feel Reach is a game of it's own. To further go that direction, I absolutely think it's smart of Bungie to implement features in similar games(Like COD) to improve this game even more.
If it helps make the game better, why ignore it?
From the sounds of it, you're saying that MLG related events have been a large factor in the success of Halo. Which if that is true, I thoroughly disagree. Multiplayer is only one part of the game, and although MLG is quite popular, it's not OMGHOOGE!!!11!1!
You do realize there's a single player mode, right..?
"If firefight or invasion were things that had kept halo and bungie afloat for so long I would be overly greatful that they gave us a lot of new content for it.. But that isn't what halo has been about for Bungies WHOLE TIME so why change on their last game?"
Don't fear change, it's unhealthy. They changed it, because it they didn't want this game to be a replica of all the old games. They add these new features to change things up(Of which, in my opinion, they did rather successfully) and give a fresh breath of air for the people who play their games.
They tested Firefight and Invasion, they were received very well, so Bungie put 1 and 1 together and made them better and put time and work into them for people.
Bungie ARE catering to people, it's the people who buy their game. As soon as you put money into one of their games, they are then catering to you. And if you continue to buy their content for those games, they will continue to cater you. It's like giving someone money to go and get groceries for you, it's a service.
