If you can stand my wall of text THIS IS WHY PEOPLE ARE UPSET. It isn't that everyone is poor..

Okay so I feel like I need to throw this out there... People consider it "whining" just because someone voices that they feel screwed or jipped because of this.. I'm not saying bungie is evil. I'm not saying microsoft is evil. Do keep this in the back of your mind, I am going for a Business Degree with Marketing... The point of a business is to create the most profit. I get that. But there use to be ethics to it/a sense of moral code. No one -blam!-ed about Halo 3's maps costing because Halo 3 released with unanimously agreed upon "GOOD" maps. It was also a unanimously agreed upon "GOOD" game. Reach has neither. Just because some of you think this is a great game, get out of your little hut and start reading around bnet. A LOT of people are upset with the game and such, call it whatever you want but it's fact that a good bit of people are not happy with reach.

:Break from wall of text:

Let me break it down simply for you why people feel screwed/like this is not a very "ethical" decision.

1. IGN found screen shots of some of these maps (in their polished look) prior to Release. (of course bungie was working on them prior to release, but they looked finished... should have shipped with the game)
2. The moral's that USE to be in gaming was make a complete game and sell it. Now it's half ass a game and sell the rest of it via DLC to make some extra cha-ching
3. Seriously, I bought H2, I bought H3, I bought the DLC for them, I bought Reach... and it came with the same -blam!- I paid for in the other games... and to get NEW maps I get to do what? you guessed it pay more..
4. $10 is not much, no. But why sit there and feel like you've been wronged without at least saying it? You enjoy bungie and what they have done, so you don't want ot just ABANDON the game when something happens you dont like.. you want to try to "work it out" and the best way is to voice your opinion.. Its ridiculous that so many people are saying "shut up it's not a big deal" well apparently it IS a big deal to OTHER PEOPLE.
5. If bungie does what they have done in the past I will HAVE TO PAY $10 MORE in order to use/play the same features I can currently do for no added cost. (assuming they yet again make it mandatory to buy maps to play online)

I understand that they can pull the BS of "you bought all the other stuff but Multiplayer changes and is online and such" but seriously?! the online is what kept them in business and how do they repay their loyal online goers? With -blam!- maps. And MLG has very much helped halo/bungie stand and how do they repay those fans? A -blam!- ranking system. Oh and as walk has said OVER and OVER.. JACK -blam!- in the symmetrical map selection.

i do like remakes trust me I LOVE sanctuary and would love to see headlong and some others remade, but those maps werent made for AA's and they do not play nearly as well as they did before. It's a new game and needs new maps should have come with it to compliment it.

The game just came out a month ago!!!!!

This should be available free to those who bought the game hmm say A MONTH AGO?

Come on this is a lame attempt to sell something that should have been with the game release but it was rushed out to meet a deadline because you were all too busy goofing off.

I think people are forgetting something, there are SEVENTEEN MAPS. Just because you can't play competitive multiplayer(Yet, with Firefight Vs. you CAN) on eight of them does not deny the fact that the Firefight maps should be included in that total list of maps.

The amount of self-entitlement in here is disgusting.

These maps should not be cheaper.
These maps should not be free.

1. Lemme guess, those screenshots came out in August, right?

2. It's a business, you act surprised that they're trying to make money.. Which is their job..

3. Well duh, work was put into those maps, and work is something that you get paid for, at least where I'm from. I'm not sure what it's like on Pluto.

4. Perhaps if they'd give a legitimate reason for it being a big deal, we could accept it..? Seriously, it may be a big deal to some, but don't feel like you HAVE to have these maps. If you don't want to spend the money for these maps, then don't, it's actually very VERY simple. You can keep playing, Forge, Campaign, Multiplayer, and EVERYTHING else the game came with. Jeeze..

5. I will agree with you here, that it's stupid how the maps practically become mandatory and make you incapable of playing the game without buying them. But still, you don't HAVE to buy them.

Please don't act like you're better than me or anyone else. Just because YOUR opinion is that this game wasn't good or the maps were crap, doesn't mean it's the truth.

Bungie is not catering to you and the people who dislike the game, they are catering to the people who WANT to play this game and are pleased with the massive amount of things in the game to do. The people who would gladly give a cheap ten dollars up for a quality service and product given to them.

Yes the game needs its own supply of new maps, and it does. Shocking ain't it?!

A few remakes here and there that are some of the best maps Bungie has ever released(IMO) to package with it? That's awesome! Remakes are necessary, it caters to older crowds who enjoyed those maps. New maps are to cater for those looking to explore something and want something new.

You don't seem to apply to either of those from the looks of it.

I don't get why people are all -blam!-ing about those maps costing money! I have played all Halo games on all platforms possible (Xbox, PC and Xbox 360) and Halo 3 is probably the game I played the most. Back then I didn't get mad when Bungie released a map pack I just got excited that new maps would come into play and I was hoping for some old remakes since I loved and still love the Halo 1 and 2 classic maps!

Now, for me at least, I still get the same feeling! I really enjoy playing Halo Reach and new maps will make it even better I feel like! And so what if we have to pay a few bucks for new content? It's not that big of a deal anyway unless you got no income whatsoever...

1. Prior to release, I added it to the list because I have seen many people complaining about it.

2. No I do not act surprised that they are trying to make money, I stated that I understand that, but making money by producing quality new content (as was the case in H2 and H3) and making money by RE-selling the already PURCHASED DLC as half of the multiplayer maps and then charging 2 months later for actually NEW content is a little low. Why couldn't they make new content then sell remakes again? That seems like it would make more sense? My guess is because they knew that the community could forge just as well as them and would make those remakes for free.

3. Really? Is it? Then why isn't the community getting paid for every map that they make that is played? This logic makes sense but not in these parameters. They should have put this work into the shipped version of reach. THAT is what the $60 (or more depending on the copy you got) was for.. It wasn't paying to get remakes (things I can do myself in forge-that I wouldn't get paid to create) of things we paid extra for in the previous games.

4 & 5. You kind of contradict yourself between these two, possibly you did not word it how you meant it? You agree that its stupid how they become mandatory in 5 but in 4 you say "don't feel like you HAVE to have there maps. If you don't want to spend money for these maps, then don't, it's actually very VERY simple. You can keep playing.... MULTIPLAYER and EVERYTHING ELSE" No.. You couldn't in H3 and I'm assuming (since they are after money) that they will do the same here.

I am not acting like I am better than anyone, I'm stating the rebuttal to all of the people who think they are better because they like this. And because they like it they think that no one should be allowed to complain. I am simply stating WHY people are complaining and have the right to. I'm not saying that people who enjoy Reach or these maps are stupid. Please realize that people saying "stop complaining Reach is good" are the ones who think they are better... Because they are telling people who do not agree to shut up. The people complaining arent saying "Stop playing reach everyone stop praising the game because its a piece of crap" they are stating THEIR frustrations to BUNGIE, not to you or anyone else.

Bungie isn't "catering" to anyone.. If they were catering to the people who kept them afloat for so long then ironically that WOULD be catering to me and the competitive multiplayer groups. They went soft and listened to all the kids who couldn't achieve a 50 in Halo 3. So they followed CoD and made it so that the longer you play you will eventually rank up, technically no skill required. They also changed all the gameplay of halo with AA's which in a sense give a feel of CoD. I understand they are branching out to reach some of the CoD kids, but the price they are paying is disgruntling a lot of Halo fans who stuck with them because they weren't like Cod and because if they want to play a CoD style game they will play... CoD. Simple.

"The people who would gladly give a cheap ten dollars up for a quality service and product given to them." VERY subjective. That's the reason people are complaining. They do not believe it is a quality game.

And if I don't apply to either of the two groups then there must be more groups out there then you realize, right? Remakes are necessary (in your opinion) to cater to older crowds... I enjoyed the older maps as I said I love sanctuary, want ot see headlong, i love lockout (blackout was pretty good), I wish elongation were in H3, I enjoyed the hang em high remake.. but H3 was a GOOD game of HALO not watered down CoD, that is why people are upset. Again I am not telling you or attacking you saying that you shouldn't like the game. I am saying like the other people stating negative opinions on the game, that we feel betrayed by bungie in a sense because we kept them afloat pouring money into them and going to events supporting halo (mlg) keeping it alive and then they don't really give much to the competitive players. That's all Im saying. If firefight or invasion were things that had kept halo and bungie afloat for so long I would be overly greatful that they gave us a lot of new content for it.. But that isn't what halo has been about for Bungies WHOLE TIME so why change on their last game?

everyone who doesn't think they should have to pay, listen up

our economy is what we like to call capitalist, which means that private companies control the economy, and these private companies need to make money to fund the production of products and pay their employees.most of you probably have jobs, so i ask you this, if your salary was to be reduced because some ungrateful -blam!-s didn't think they should have to pay for your services/product, wouldn't you be mad? not only that but charging for these DLC helps fund the production of new games, which, in turn makes more money to make more DLC and more games. So if you want the video game industry to keep chugging along then stop complaining.

amen to that!

People complaining about price, what? Three maps for ten bucks, how is that different from standard prcedure? Are people just getting more cranky and cheap? Or perhaps there is a rush of post-release ten year olds who can't have jobs?

I agree on that people should stop complaining about the price it only ten dollars lol

if any of you guys were around for halo 3 dlc, which i doubt you were, you would realize people are complaining because they are releasing dlc content too soon...i make $10 in 30 min at work and im still complaining about the dlc, because it is wrong to release it and charge ppl this early

I just spent $150 on this game not even two months ago and will already have to buy content.

Why is everyone complaining that they just paid 60 or 150 dollars on a game, and that they HAVE to buy new content?
Noone is forcing you to buy it.

All of you saying "What its only 10 dollars?! i piss 10$!" you -blam!-es need to grow up and spend your money on somthing else. The economy is -blam!- and buying these map packs isnt making it get any better. you know why? Because it all goes to Microsoft and bungie and they are greedy little pieces of -blam!- who want nothing else but your money. And you -blam!- retards are sucking their dicks RIGHT NOW. 10$ for 3 maps... 800,000 people are thinking just what you guys are thinking "Oh its only 10$" thats alot of -blam!- money for them. So get your head out of your huge -blam!-s and see the big picture.

What is the exact date, if you know? It makes a huge difference, considering maps take a few months to make usually, and that August 2nd, I believe it was, the game went gold, meaning that nothing could be added and they were starting to mass produce the game. Which is probably when they started working on these maps.

Why would players get paid for making a forge map? That seems ridiculous. You do realize it takes months to make an entire map from the ground up like they do with these releases? Be they remakes or new maps.

And regarding 4 and 5, it's not contradictory. By "EVERYTHING els" I was meaning the theatre options and any of the extra stuff in the game, that didn't entirely pertain to multiplayer. The map packs did LIMIT you in Halo 3, but the multiplayer was still playable after that even for those who didn't have maps. If you don't buy the maps, expect to be limited, it's just how it is and how things become fair.

It makes sense to me that they would prioritize the players who are actually buying the content for the game.

So in that aspect, you don't NEED or HAVE to buy these maps to continue playing multiplayer, although you will be limited.

It's not that we think you shouldn't complain, it's just you're not complaining about something that is an actual problem. You're pulling in self-entitlement, thinking that these maps are YOURS, when they are actually not.

""The people who would gladly give a cheap ten dollars up for a quality service and product given to them." VERY subjective. That's the reason people are complaining. They do not believe it is a quality game."

It is subjective, and if people don't think it's a good game, then sell it and save your money. Why are you complaining about having to spend money on maps again..?

I can understand to some degree what you mean that the Armor Abilities are similar to COD in some fashion, but I disagree that it gives the game a "COD feel", I feel Reach is a game of it's own. To further go that direction, I absolutely think it's smart of Bungie to implement features in similar games(Like COD) to improve this game even more.

If it helps make the game better, why ignore it?

From the sounds of it, you're saying that MLG related events have been a large factor in the success of Halo. Which if that is true, I thoroughly disagree. Multiplayer is only one part of the game, and although MLG is quite popular, it's not OMGHOOGE!!!11!1!

You do realize there's a single player mode, right..?

"If firefight or invasion were things that had kept halo and bungie afloat for so long I would be overly greatful that they gave us a lot of new content for it.. But that isn't what halo has been about for Bungies WHOLE TIME so why change on their last game?"

Don't fear change, it's unhealthy. They changed it, because it they didn't want this game to be a replica of all the old games. They add these new features to change things up(Of which, in my opinion, they did rather successfully) and give a fresh breath of air for the people who play their games.

They tested Firefight and Invasion, they were received very well, so Bungie put 1 and 1 together and made them better and put time and work into them for people.

Bungie ARE catering to people, it's the people who buy their game. As soon as you put money into one of their games, they are then catering to you. And if you continue to buy their content for those games, they will continue to cater you. It's like giving someone money to go and get groceries for you, it's a service.

Only 3 maps?!! WTF?! I was hoping for about 4-5 new maps for 800 msp. If its only three maps then it should either be 400 or free since they been working on this during the production of Reach.

Bungie you have failed me on this one for the first time...

800 for 3 maps that should have been in the game. This is a big disappoint bungie. I just bought the game for 90 bucks and now you want 10 more. This is just bullsh!+

Then you could say bungie did the same thing with the heroic map pack right?

Pwnin noobs is fun :)

Why do people keep saying that bungie aren't forcing us to buy it?

They will make it mandatory in the majority of playlists. I suppose we could stop playing all together but just because we dont wan't these new horrible maps shouldn't mean we aren't allowed to play.

to echo what II SiAo II said. H3 and H2 had outstanding map designs unseen in most other games as most other console shooters (CoD, MoH, PDZ) just lift the maps from the campaign. This is one of the main aspects that set halo at the pinnacle of FPS games. Instead we get given 5 bad forges/remakes and the remaining maps lifted from the campaign. No effort whatsoever was put into these maps.

Also the ranking system was something that the majority of players strived for and for the most part it worked. The only flaw was buying accounts but most people could tell who a bought 50 was just by playing with them.

Bungie have done nothing so far for the competetive community even though it was MLG that brought them mainstream and without MLG halo wouldn't have anywhere near the following that it has today.

oh those maps look awesome! but i am hoping that they may add more vehicles into forge, like the civilian ones, and the grenadier/transport/ guns on front falcon. Just my opinion, Maps look awesome!

Some people win, some people loose. I just try to kill people because life is so much easeir that way.

I would second this motion. I would also like to see some of the non military vehicles like the trucks and forklifts that are scattered through out the campaign. I also want to be able to place more natural objects like trees and rocks, the trees could make for some fun zombie variants.
