semper ubi sub ubi

I think it's awesome, thanks Bungie...

Clearly though,

Alot of people are angry by the map pack . You can see this just by reading the different forum posts about the Map Pack.

Its always been only 3 maps dating back to Halo 2

Wow, these maps look horrible. Not only are 2 out of three massive, the "small" map has space. Space. Cause it worked so well on Zealot. This reminds me of the shield doors on Snowbound and Epitaph. It reminds me of how Bungie seems to be unable to make good maps anymore.

  • 10.14.2010 10:34 AM PDT

Is it going to be like halo 3 in that we need to buy these maps just to play the game in mulitplayer. I thinking i will get this maps when they go on sale.

I cannot be mad at Bungie for wanting to make more profit, that is-afterall- the point of any business. I can however take my business elsewhere and that is exactly what I am going to do. I wanted to give reach a chance but the lack of GOOD maps/original maps followed by 3 DLC maps that could and SHOULD have been in the release for $10 is the last straw.. I'm going to pass.

Bungie in all due respect, thank you for the many great years I have had online gaming and playing locally with my friends. MLG Meadowlands was a BLAST with the OcR guys in 09. Probably one of the funnest Bdays I've ever had. I thank you for the memories and friendships that have stemmed from your game, but your bull-blam!- known as "reach" needs to go. This originated when I read that you said "YOU" came up with a great idea to limit jetpacks from flying wherever.. a "soft kill zone" that said "you have 10 seconds to return to battle field." This was VERY MUCH not your idea. Games have been doing this for a long time and the most recent was Battlefield Bad Company 2. You give yourself credit for things that you do not deserve. And your armor abilities and gameplay (assists, rankings, challenges, and so forth) are a watered down version of CoD (which I could not STAND MW2). If I wanted to play that style of game, I would put in CoD4.

I commend you for your marketing and for suckering in every one of the guppies who think you have "worked your ass off since release" to make these maps, but not all of us are blind sheep and won't just buy whatever you put out without question. Enjoy the money you make off of the little kids and fanboys, watching you guys has definitely helped me in my marketing classes in college and I have learned a lot from you and again, I thank you for that... But I will not be one of the ones pouring money into a mediocre game. (And just so all the people who get offended by me posting my feelings, this isn't my only tag and I have infact been playing since CE and Halo 2 was online).

It was nice while it lasted and thank you for the neat and in depth statistics. In many aspects you have gone above and beyond what anyone would have ever expected and you have done amazing things with the site and game (theater, forge) but I have lost the joy of playing Halo and this just gives me a reason to not hold onto the game.

Goodbye

Say what you want, but Powerhouse and Swordbase are future classics.

GO MSU GO WINGS GO PISTONS GO TIGERS GO LIONS

I guess have some mixed feelings about this. 3 maps seems slim. The 250 cheevos is nice but 10 bucks seems dumb. Was really hoping we would get some free maps. They sold alot of copies of reach. But they do look nice. I like the love for the big team maps. I like that you are keeping things fresh. But i am really still just getting use to the old maps. So i will prolly hold off for a while. Is the third map a spin off of waterworks

You best be joking. Swordbase a.k.a. "you sit top gold with shottie and we sit top red with sword and both shoot across high bridge hoping to get a lucky kill" is a horrible map. That map needs rockets to promote movement.

Wow those are the two worst maps on this game

Ok, While i am not happy with the price and quantity of new maps I don't fault Bungie. There is a reason they are walking away from Halo and Microsoft. The marketing decisions are likely out of there hands. Microsoft has been watching Activision and the MW2 series and are taking notes. Who can blame them. If you dont like it don't buy it.

I will not be picking up the maps at that price point just as I never got the MW2 maps. If the game become unplayable with out purchasing the new maps I will trade it in. Simple as that.

As to the complaints that these maps were ready to go in at launch, probably not. While some of these may have been in development, it takes a lot of time to play test and work out kinks, far longer then most realize. Imagine putting out a broken map for a launch to roughly 3 million gamers. You dont, if you are concerned, you cut it. That's part of any successful software launch.

Reach lovers will get the maps regardless, haters will complain and those like me will wait.

Thanks Bungie for a great game, I have enjoyed it immensely. Sorry I wont be picking up the map pack as it stands now. Maybe the next one.

I still think it's fun. Rockets would probably make it more interesting. The plasma launcher helped with that in the beta but they replaced it with the concussion rifle for some reason.

And what would you consider the best?

I find it ridiculous that you charge $10 for 3 maps. The maps that shipped with game were mostly remakes and campaign levels and now you want to make us pay out the ass for more?

if $10 is out the ass... you have serious financial problems...

  • 10.14.2010 10:43 AM PDT

None, honestly. in my opionion, this game feels forced.

I dont want to play on a map that was ripped right out of single player with only the addition of a grav lift.
IE all the multiplayer maps except for the forge world.

Powerhouse just doesnt play like a multiplayer map....

boardwalk is a little one sided

spire and boneyard are just bad

zealot would be good except for the low g area

I guess countdown would be my fav but would play better with halo 3 phyics

Why make two big maps for the six or eight thousand that play invasion/BTB COMBINED?

What about the 40000 that play team slayer? Make smaller, competitive maps bungie.

Sev is the Master Hunter

Well as this is the fourth page I don't expect this to be read by anyone within Bungie, but here goes anyway. Me and my friends absolutely love the Halo saga, although we were disapointed with the gradually slimmer number of maps being released with each game. Three new maps isn't much but I'll put my money down for it. If however Bungie could put together some new forge world items... A pelican we can actually fly, maybe a forklift, truck, other campaign available vehicles. Perhaps new themed items and building blocks. Per say and entire set of UNSC items that could be used to make a base for a special invasion game. Or the other way around with the base being covenant. effects could be added to make certain areaas covered in fog or rain. Just ideas though. Keep up the hard work.

The maps in reach are terrible. I've never seen such a bad -blam!- to good map ratio. Reach desperately needs more maps that don't suck, but I don't think Bungie can do that anymore. Praying the forge community can do what these 'triple A' dev's can't.

and seriously... more zero grav? really?

Hm, i must go to the shop and get some Microsoft Points

Aw man, I love how everyone who has a complaint about the pricing/timing/etc. of the map pack are either whiners, trolls, or (apparently) too poor to afford the pack.

I'm gonna have to agree with everyone who thinks this is super overpriced/early. I love Reach, and have put many hours into it playing with my friends, but after playing all the maps many times, I gotta say they really screwed the pooch with the Reach maps. If all the maps weren't ripped straight from campaign, I wouldn't feel so ripped off. But I'm seriously feeling that they just got lazy with making maps, and said "-blam!- it, if we just give em' campaign maps now, we can charge em' for real ones later."

And like Halo 3's first map pack, I have a feeling that at least 2 of those maps will be fairly awful (Rat's Nest and Foundry, anyone?).

400 points I could stomach, but 800 points is really, really steep for something that I feel should have shipped with the original game (not these specific maps, but just more non-campaign MP maps).
