Yes, I'm a furry. And yes, I like men. So what?
Normally, I'd say the UNSC and just be done with it, but I feel like I have to put out the pros/cons of both sides
Citadel Fleet
- Has very fast, agile frigates and cruisers, and very powerful capital ships, such as their Dreadnoughts.
- Seems to have mastered the use of mass accelerators as weapons.
Accelerator design was revolutionized by element zero. A slug lightened by a mass effect field can be accelerated to greater speeds, permitting projectile velocities that were previously unobtainable. If accelerated to a high enough velocity, a simple paint chip can impact with the same destructive force as a nuclear weapon.
- Advanced shielding technology thanks to their use of Mass Effect fields.
Cons
- Apparently have relatively small starships compared to the UNSC, their Dreadnoughts being around a single kilometer long, as compared to a simple Halcyon or Marathon class being 1 to 1.17 kilometers long, or even the carrier and supercarrier classes, which were much larger, being upwards into the 3 kilometer range
- Rather small fleet compared to the combined UNSC fleets of hundreds of ships.
United Nations Space Command
- Many, many, MANY ships at their prime era (assuming this strength is the one we're talking about). EDIT: My current count is at 153 mixed class vessels.
- The Magnetic Accelerator Cannon, which can propel a slug to hyperkinetic velocities, the fastest being attributed to Super MACs and quoted at being "40% the speed of light".
EDIT: Let's do some physics math, eh?
Kinetic Energy Equation: 1/2mv^2
So: Ship MAC: 1/2(600)(30)^2 = 270,000 Joules of kinetic energy.
Super MAC: 1/2(3,000)(30)^2 = 1,350,000 Joules of kinetic energy.
All you physics kids should understand how much that is.
- Super MAC Guns, which can propel a 3,000 ton projectile to the aforementioned 40% the speed of light, or around 267,840,000 mph, and can reload in five seconds.
Cons
- VERY susceptible to kinetic and energy based weaponry, with MA rounds having been known to completely obliterate smaller ships, such as frigates and corvettes.
- Not very fast or maneuverable in combat, unless helmed by a significantly competent captain/commander.
I'd take more time to list all of this out, but I don't really feel like it now.
