otherwise it unsc by a tinny amount

I think you mean the same result as the Human-Covenant War, but that's simply not possible since the Citadel forces simply don't have the resuorces to bring UNSC on its knees like the Covies did...

Good lord I've never seen such a nerd debate over two game's universes. That's not to say I haven't been enjoying it as it's all quite interesting.

I love both ME and Halo but I believe I see why Halo may come out on top. As a matter of fact, reading these responses and such makes me want to go back and play ME1 to start a new character there, finish it, then transfer them to ME2 with moar pro Humanity values. :D

You sir, you have restored my faith in ME's fanbase.
Humanity first!
You thought it would be the "Cerberus Humanity first" poster, didn't you? xD

Wake me when the jews are gone.

if the war started i think it would end in one day because if the citadel is afraid of a war with mercenaries they would have heart atack when they see the UNSC

UNSC has Captain Keyes

/thread

And Admiral Cole
And John-117
And Jorge-052
And Kurt-051
And Linda-058
And Kelly-087
And Jerome-092
And Fred-104
And the rest of the 33 SPARTAN-IIs
And Sergeant Major Avery J. Johnson
And Buck
And Rookie
And Dutch
And Mickey
And Romeo
And SPARTAN-B312
And Carter-A259
This can go on for a while...

And the Citadel has Admiral Hackett
And... that's all...
(it's Citadel forces only, so no Shepard, Garrus or Wrex)

Dead characters that died (and are still dead) when being a member of a certain faction are allowed btw.

I'm pretty sure it will start a...

Mass Suicide.
YEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAHHHHHH!!!!!!

In ME2 you are in the Terminus Systems, I didn't saw anything that would've been a danger to the Citadel forces, they don't even have an organized goverment there!

the main UNSC problem is that almost everyone in the citadel is politic and it don't mattter how many politics you get rid there always more and more

I don't really see that as a problem for the UNSC, the Citadel forces being led by politicians is an advantage for the military UNSC. During a large scale war UNSC is authorized to entirely remove the politics part by taking over UEG's and CAA's functions. Of course politics are present as always, but UNSC does not suffer from such idiots like the Council being in charge.

And of course they don't give a frak if you will allow it or not:
"This fact (Human-Covenant War) allowed the UNSC to override civilian rule and establish itself as humanity's primary government. Although the Unified Earth Government was more open to step down, the Colonial Administration, the arm of the UEG ruling over the colonies, resisted the UNSC's rise to power, and was thus stripped of its power."

dude objects have no range in space.

there is no air resistance.

no gravity.

no nothing to hinder the shot. it would carry the same energy forever.

even an Ak shot would travel forever before hitting something. Range makes no sense here.

Logic is fail.

Effective range =/= range

Effective range means when you are sure you will hit your enemy, because if it takes too long the other ship can simply dodge it.
There's no point of firing your weapon from 2.500.000 km if the enemy can easily dodge it, then you are just wasting ammo and you are ruining someone's day, somewhere and sometime.

Yes, I'm a furry. And yes, I like men. So what?

Normally, I'd say the UNSC and just be done with it, but I feel like I have to put out the pros/cons of both sides

Citadel Fleet

- Has very fast, agile frigates and cruisers, and very powerful capital ships, such as their Dreadnoughts.

- Seems to have mastered the use of mass accelerators as weapons.

Accelerator design was revolutionized by element zero. A slug lightened by a mass effect field can be accelerated to greater speeds, permitting projectile velocities that were previously unobtainable. If accelerated to a high enough velocity, a simple paint chip can impact with the same destructive force as a nuclear weapon.

- Advanced shielding technology thanks to their use of Mass Effect fields.

Cons

- Apparently have relatively small starships compared to the UNSC, their Dreadnoughts being around a single kilometer long, as compared to a simple Halcyon or Marathon class being 1 to 1.17 kilometers long, or even the carrier and supercarrier classes, which were much larger, being upwards into the 3 kilometer range

- Rather small fleet compared to the combined UNSC fleets of hundreds of ships.

United Nations Space Command

- Many, many, MANY ships at their prime era (assuming this strength is the one we're talking about). EDIT: My current count is at 153 mixed class vessels.

- The Magnetic Accelerator Cannon, which can propel a slug to hyperkinetic velocities, the fastest being attributed to Super MACs and quoted at being "40% the speed of light".

EDIT: Let's do some physics math, eh?

Kinetic Energy Equation: 1/2mv^2

So: Ship MAC: 1/2(600)(30)^2 = 270,000 Joules of kinetic energy.

Super MAC: 1/2(3,000)(30)^2 = 1,350,000 Joules of kinetic energy.

All you physics kids should understand how much that is.

- Super MAC Guns, which can propel a 3,000 ton projectile to the aforementioned 40% the speed of light, or around 267,840,000 mph, and can reload in five seconds.

Cons

- VERY susceptible to kinetic and energy based weaponry, with MA rounds having been known to completely obliterate smaller ships, such as frigates and corvettes.

- Not very fast or maneuverable in combat, unless helmed by a significantly competent captain/commander.

I'd take more time to list all of this out, but I don't really feel like it now.

38 kilotons in 38,000 tons of TNT. It would blow any kind of Metal away. Even titanium with adamantium bolts and diamond nuts.

And do you think I don't know what a kiloton is?
Seriously people, will you ever comprehend that fiction is not the same as real life?
If the canon said paper would be able to deflect a 10 Exaton bomb, then it will do that.
And Halo is still over 500 years in the future, things change then. If I told the people from 500 years ago that we will have ships with armor that will deflect their cannonballs with ease and that cannons that those ships use will tear their ships apart with ease they would of course say "Impossible!"

  • 12.06.2010 4:30 PM PDT

Here's your sign

Depends on what time it is set. If around H3, UNSC would lose, but if all the Spartans were alive like before Reach, I would say Halo would win. Spectres would be equal to S3's, but S2's would turn the tides.
Edit: Oh sorry, wasn't expecting a serious thread.

This too, ME does it the Star Trek way where planet's have no defenses at all which means UNSC can simply do this and GTFO before any kind of reinofrcements arrive. Important UNSC worlds are protected by SMACs, Earth for example has 300.

The guns on Mass Effect ships are weaker than there UNSC counterparts, but still probably strong enough to cripple/kill many of UNSC ships in a single shot. They can also fire faster. Mass Effect ships would have a range advantage, as the projectiles from there ships move a lot faster than MAC rounds. Mass Effect also has an advantage in FTL speed.

We know the the UNSC had 2000 ships near the star of the war with the Covenant, I don't how how that compares with mass effect.

The MAC gun does damage in the Terratons,

Kilotons everywhere except the encyclopedia, including newer and higher canon sources. Halo 2 has MAC rounds moving at single digit/low double digit kilometers per second, Conversation from the Universe had them below 20 km/s, Halo Reach at single digit km/s, and TFOR at 30 km/s.

68 kilotons-----1.2 petatons=68,000 tons-------1,200,000,000,000,000 tons of TNT.

At the very least, doubling your argument for Mass Effect in Halo's favor, or otherwise making ME weapons irrelivant

Based on the acceleration abilities of the enemy, your military has concluded that if your weapon takes more than 5 seconds to get to the target, it will probably miss.

For UNSC ships, this means they have an effective range of up to 150 km. For ME ships, they would have a 20,000 km effective range.

or just out think them and take them over.

And if Medicant Bias did it (just theoretically, assuming the Forerunners were in this discussion) The Geth would probably all have a seizure.

Aren't they just mindless drones more or less that only follow orders?
