Jak

I heard that the Jackals were hired guns by the Covenant, working for them for riches such as gold and other resources and did not believe in the Covenant faith. Is there any truth to this?

Do you know what kind of hat I'm wearing?

A party hat; you don't get one. An honor will this party be, a party in your honor, for your honor. Some of Tfear's personal guards are going to be there. You'll be introduced shortly.

Prepare to die.

@Spitfire45

Well we actually designed the Spiker long before we joined the Covenant, I would estimate that it was developed around the time of the American Civil War on humanity's Earth. It's made of a metal alloy that is unknown to humans, and even rare on Doisac (our Jirilanhae homeworld) nowadays. Until the Covenant showed up the Spikes were made by hand.

Doisac still exists. Before we joined the Covenant, us Jirilanhae had spaceships and advanced technology as well. But like humans, we couldn't help but fight between ourselves. A global battle reverted us back to the Stone Age. When the Covenant found us some time later, we had only just rediscovered radio technology. We were absorbed into the Covenant and accepted their ways with ease.

After the Human-Covenant war, most Jirilanhae returned to Doisac. The Sangheili have attacked our world ever since. Doisac is still around and there are still Jirilanhae living on it, but it's a war torn wasteland.

As for Jirilanhae language, I really can't say. My ancestors had done away with our own language hundreds of years ago when they joined the Covenant. We share our language with the Sangheili, with the exception of a few "slang" words, as humans would call them.

@Re'gish

Why does religion and the military play such a massive role in the society of all the Covenant races, yours especially? Their seems to be no efforts towards actually expanding your technology but just adapting to the technologies gained through your conquests and exploration by means of military and religious intentions?

@Soviet Strelet

Ever since us Sangheili first discovered the technology of our great predecessors, the Forerunner, we had been devoted to it entirely. You could say we were blinded by faith, but the San 'Shyuum also persuaded us, with their talk of promise and being able to use it for power. For thousands of years we were solely dedicated on the Forerunner because well, the evidence was all there. We wanted nothing more than to become Gods such as them on the path to the Great Journey. It's like telling a newborn human child that if they do certain things they will become gods, the San 'Shyuum were the adults and us Sangheili were the naive children. It's all we ever knew until the Schism.

So, what could be expected of your future technological growth then since you have departed your masters? And what is the economic structure like in your new society? Is it Capitalistic, Socialist, or government controlled... if that is what it could be called for you.

@Soviet Strelet

It's hard to say really. We don't really know anything other than what the San 'Shyuum told us. We never really had an "economy". We never understood why things such as gold and metals were considered of worth in societies that we came across all those eons of scouring the galaxy. Why value metals over life and honor? Us Sangheili have never truly had a currency system, and I doubt that we will in the future.

I would theorize that our people will most likely be structured somewhat similarly to the old Covenant, a council of representatives acting on behalf of the people, but this time to better the Sangheili as a whole. However, I doubt we will ever have any sort of currency similar to the Humans or Kig-Yar (both of which highly value gold, for reasons we don't understand). We would simply each have a role in society, working together to better ourselves and our Sangheili brethren.

As for expanding technology goes, I also don't see much of that happening either. The Covenant were not innovative, but instead imitative. We modeled our weaponry and starships after what the Forerunner left behind. The only way I could see us Sangheili developing further is if we find more Forerunner artifacts, If at all, the only way we'll be advancing further, is by perfectly modeling Forerunner technology. While it is advanced, it is, again, imitative, not innovative.

I understand your intense values on honor and brotherhood. But how do you make your society work? You must have some sort of barter system for obtaining goods, or if I understanding this correctly. You have developed a Socialist system of work by the people benefits all those around it and also far away as you place no price on items. How do you safe guard against dishonesty and explotiation.

So a parlimentary system is what you use for government? Why not a strong, referdum elected dictatior to centralize your society? You must have to be able to by pass the stalls made by such systems involving masses of elected officals who constantly scream for discord.

Oh, another question. This one is not so serious, but what happened with some of your fellow Elites throughout the Halo series. What with the certain moments of hurp/durp moments exhibited by your brothers on the field.

Well I can't really speak for all of my brethren, but from what I understand there is a contagious illness going around the Sangheili, called "Lag". It interferes with Sangheili brain function and gives us random acts of stupidity for reasons our medicine cannot determine.
