Guys so its all proven that there are destructible environments, but it makes me wonder if there are destructible characters. Like you know if you throw a frag pieces of body go flying. Because that's reality.

I would love to see a grunt blow up when you hit his methane tank.
It should be a bigger explosion than a frag.

Yes. That would be quite amusing. Especially you take out a grunt's methane tank while it is sitting in the middle of a covenant ground force.

Would make sniping grunts alot more fun. Though, i think bungie will probably make thier rebreathers bulletproof or something, since it would make them really, really easy. Especially if say, you could take out dozens of grunts, and any other covies in the area with a grenade, causing a huge chain reaction. It'd be really cool if you could suffocate them by disabling their rebreathers with bullet fire, or a melee attack.

no i think that would take it a little too far. i mean is it really neccessary to see the body blow up into little pieces? i mean if you want a game with gore just get Manhunt or something.

Yeah, or Unreal Tournament. You can turn on the gore feature. Not Halo 2.

It would be quite awesome to have deformable character models in Halo 2. I don't really care for gore in games, but I don't have anything against it, either. I just want the most realistic visuals in my game, and this plays a major part. Now instead of having Elites waves their arms when they're hit by a plasma nade, you can have badly charred limbs fly away from the explosion... and if you snipe his arm off he won't be able to attack you.

Also, I think it would be a cool little feature to have Grunts with explosive backpacks. Not a big enough explosion to affect gameplay, but one that will detonate grenades directly beneath the Grunt and show off some cool flame effects while it burns. Maybe if you make a small bullethole in the tank it will act like a jet and spin the Grunt around? That would be hilarious!

Are you forgetting something?

Methane in gas tank.
Sparks created on impact.
Sparks create flame.
Methane flammable.
Methane + flame = explosion
explosion + grunt = disintegration

there is no spinny around, unless you shot them at their side at point-blank range, then the blast would force the body in a 360 turn.

Actually, if the bullet was a high-velocity round it might not spark when it pierces the tank. On this rare occasion, you'd have a Spinning Grunt.

BTW Spinning Grunt is now my name in Halo MP.

Haha, I can just picture that in my mind. A group of marines and a SPARTAN approach a covenant ground force. A shot is fired with a high-velocity sniper rifle, the bullets impact peirced throught the grunts methane tank and the bullets momentum is passed on to the grunt. The grunt falls back and staggers, but then spins like a russian ballet.

Now that would be a sight.

I meant he would be spinning because of the methane gas propelling him, not the velocity of the round itself. We already see that in Halo, when you hit a Grunt's side he'll twist in the opposite direction slightly before hitting the ground.

OXM describes having to hit the Brute's helmet with 2 sniper rounds to crack it open before you can begin to damage them with head shots. So possibly just as armor on the vehicles is destroyable so maybe is armor of unshielded enemies.

Ya i think it would be a little too gore. but bungie should say that in one of the updates that they r not including that for a reason cause my stupid ps2 friends would say ahh how fake the bodies dont even break. i dun think little methane is explosive cause garbage has methane but ever see garbage landfill sites explode. i just read about landfill sites having methane gas in my geography book. :O

Methane is explosive. It is what you use to heat your house if you live in the midwest.
Landfills burn off the excess methane. Next time you go by a landfill look for the smoke stack looking things with flames at the top.

I think that grunts methane pack would only explode if hit by a sniper round in a specific hard to hit spot. I mean did the grunts in the last E3 demo explode? No, they didn't.

Yeah good point. I think a hard to hit spot would be neat. I don't think that destructible bodies would be cool. Too much.
