Subject: Halo Reach 2 is more likely than Halo 4

New OP (hopefully with more clarity)

I have played all the Halos (apart from Reach) through at least 10 times and therefore I know the storyline very well and I would be pleased and not in the least confused about the storyline if 343 made Halo 4. However most of the Halo Reach players who I know, do not know the trilogy's storyline and so would be confused by the sotryline and would not enjoy the storyline as much. It would be better for 343 to make a game whose storyline, like Reach's storyline, did not depend on the trilogy. For example a continuation of Reach's storyline (don't ask me how; I don't know).

Old OP
When 343 make the next Halo game it would make much more sense for them to make an extension to Halo Reach's storyline than that of the trilogy. Halo Reach brought in a lot of new gamers who no nothing of the complex story of the the other halo games. If 343 make Halo 4 they will all be confused because they do not know the storyline. It is more likely therefore that they will make another trilogy or another stand alone game.

Later posted
I don't think that you've really got the point. I think less than half of the current halo population have played the entire trilogy and so do not fully understand the original stroyline which is very complex. I think it would be a better idea to make a completely new storyline that does not require one to have played the trilogy to understand the stroyline.

Edit: I have taken out the bit saying that a continuation of Halo Reach:storyline would be good. My main point is that 343 would be unwise to continue the trilogy's storyline.

Don't cross the white line.

"Give a man a fish and he'll eat for a day. Give a Halo regular a fish, and he'll complain about the taste, color, type, size, where you found it, how you obtained it, whether or not you'll give him more fish later, and I don't know how many more things. And then when you give him another fish, he'll complain that it's not exactly like the first fish. Rinse and repeat."

There already is a Halo:Reach 2, it's called Halo:CE.

Fail post.

Please don't flame me for speaking the truth. Halo: Reach was a prequel to Halo: Combat Evolved. Therefore, the only continuation you could make of it is in fact already made.

Halo 2 was a prequel to Halo 3... Does that make Halo 3 really Halo2 2.

It makes Halo 3 the sequel to Halo 2, yes. But there cannot be a sequel to Halo: Reach, because it is a prequel.

You get me? A prequel of something already made cannot have a sequel. Because said sequel...is already made.

Reach --> CE --> Halo 2 --> Halo 3

Besides, Reach is glassed. "Halo: Reach 2 takes place on a planet with absolutely no life at all." Sounds awesome.

Halo:Reach 2 is highly unlikely since Reach was glassed and abondoned for at least 25 years. Halo 4 probably isn't going to happen either since theres really nowhere for a game to go following MC after Halo 3.

Any 343 game will probably follow a new group of spartans at some point during the war or a UNSC task force attacking covenant loyalist remnants post halo 3.

It should be noted that 343 only said they'd continue MC's story. They didn't say if it would be through a game, book, or some other form of media.

And a game taking place on a planet with no life...-BLAM!-in sucks!

I was being sarcastic.

Halo 4 with Master Chief is actually pretty likely, 343 said they would continue his story and considering the Legendary ending, it seems like that's what they're going to do.

Does anyone even look at B.net sigs?

They could do Halo: First Strike. It would be continouing the story in CASTLE base, maybe even find a way to feature Jun, and also finish off what happened after Halo: CE and before Halo 2. Besides it has loads of potential gameplay-wise.

We only know Reach fell to the Covenant. Very little of it was actually glassed than we had thought judging by the game.

It's common knowledge that Reach in glassed. They even begin glassing whilst you're playing the game.

Kat: "You're first glassing? Yeah, me too."

Although with Bungie's major haulage of canon it wouldn't surprise me if Reach somehow didn't get glassed after all.

Fair enough.

A prequel of something already made cannot have a sequel, UNLESS said prequel is made WAYYY back before the first thing, allowing a further 2 terrible movies to be made AFTER said prequel before leading up to the original.

However, my point still stands in this scenario, because Halo: Reach leads directly to the start of Halo: Combat Evolved.

Unless, they don't follow master chief.

I think Halo 4 is most likely.

In First Strike they explained a small part of Reach wasn't glassed! The one where castle base is - where a -blam!- load of SPARTAN IIs, Dr. Halsey, the Covenant is, and ,as we now know, Jun. It has Forruner objects, a UNSC base, SPARTANs Covenant bases and even a Forruner ship. Not to mentoio the parts thatgo on after the SPARTANS leave Reach plus the Unyielding Hierophant. It also all leads up to Halo 2 and Ghosts of Onyx. What more do you want???!!!

Why make a Reach addition? The story would only take place between the few days between Reach and CE. Plus, Jun is the only living member of Noble remaining. I think it would be a lot easier to make Halo 4 or Halo: Contact Harvest.
