Aequam Memento Rebus in Arduis Servare Mentem. Disce Pati. Perfer et obdura; dolor hic tibi proderit olim. - Latin.

A continuation of Reach would be utterly pointless, there is no more story. The Pillar of Autumn flew off and escaped reach. And in the Fall of Reach book, MC watched as the planet was glassed and he pondered as to whether or not he was the last SPARTAN. And then things happened, examined things, and flew towards the first encounter with a Halo. Beginning of Halo: CE. The only thing i can think of that they could continue with, is the cliff-hanger they left us with at the end of Halo: 3, the "Onyx" colored "planet" that he was drifting towards.

Maybe not a continuation, maybe the story could be told from blue team's perspective, The Fall of Reach book. Hell, if the game was based on the book, they could add more to the events before the Covenant invasion and the spartans, something the book does. A game based on the book wouldn't feel redundant at all; with Noble team you wander the back alleys, and with blue team you're in the front lines, so you'd get two distinct perspectives along a healthy dose of backstory if possible.

They could do Halo: First Strike. It would be continouing the story in CASTLE base, maybe even find a way to feature Jun, and also finish off what happened after Halo: CE and before Halo 2. Besides it has loads of potential gameplay-wise.

i think that halo: first strike whould be very cool.

I think a story about Onyx or First Strike is more likely than a Reach 2. I don't even know what that could be except a parallel story that would no doubt break the canon even further.

Halo 4 is more likely than any of them.... but First Strike would be awesome.

People don't need to know the trilogy's storyline. EVERYONE knows who the Master Chief is. People bought Halo 3 without having played the first two games.

Yeah, plus the trilogy is over. It's like telling a new story, all they need to know is that the Chief is some kind of hero who killed aliens and saved the galaxy and human race.

Personally I really dont see how Bungie can abandon thier greatest creation, leaving him floating in space is simply not good enough!! He needs a decent send off, the entire reason he is there is for the franchise so get making Halo 4 already! Bungie have an obligation to make Halo 4 now, afterall they decided the end of Halo 3. Fans would want Halo 4 to be made by Bungie too, not milked to oblivion in another trilogy by any other studio but one final kick ass Bungie hosted party. Onyx, Forerunner, Flood the Reclaimer and the remnants of the Covenant is that not enough to wrap it all up?

Don't worry, you're still your mom's favorite Bnet member.

Halo 2 2 is more likely than Halo 3 3.

Well if they really wanted, they could do something with the forerunners. I think a game with the covenant might be fun too, like the covenant world, ivading reach, or something like that. You would probably be arbiter, and living his story, or some elite grunt. They could do more with the Flood, if they wanted. They could do something with the Human Vs Human war before all of the covenant invaded, or maybe a covenant civil war. Just anything would satisfy fans for now...probably.

I must say I'd like to see Halo 4 and Halo Reach 2.

It'd be called Halo Reach 4.

Two campaigns.

One multiplayer.

Confusion everywhere.

I don't think that you've really got the point. I think less than half of the current halo population have played the entire trilogy and so do not fully understand the original stroyline which is very complex. I think it would be a better idea to make a completely new storyline that does not require one to have played the trilogy to understand the stroyline.

This makes no sense at all. So basically your saying your lazy and dont want to play HALO: CE. Why would 343i remake a HALO Story line after Reach....YOUR ONLY REMAKING HALO: CE?

If they follow Halsey and the other Spartans after Reach then yeah new story line.

  • 10.21.2010 1:00 PM PDT

No it's not. Halo:CE was immediately after Reach.

I have played all the Halos (apart from Reach) through at least 10 times and therefore I know the storyline very well and I would be pleased and not in the least confused about the storyline if 343 made Halo 4. However most of the Halo Reach players who I know, do not know the trilogy's storyline and so would be confused by the sotryline and would not enjoy the storyline as much. It would be better for 343 to make a game whose storyline, like Reach's storyline, did not depend on the trilogy. For example a continuation of Reach's storyline (don't ask me how; I don't know).

I am going to update the OP again to try to increase clarity.

This is Sparta!!! eh I mean Reach ^^

who came with the absurd title Halo Reach 2???

Halo reach ended on August 30 2552 where the pillar of autumn left and the whole planet was glassed by the Covenant.
Halo Reach is a direct prequel of Halo CE, so there is absolutely no room to fit another part in there. There could be rather further prequels that plays in the timeline between Halo Wars which was quite at the beginning of the war between mankind and the covenant. Like when Master Chief was a lower rank Spartan and even not wearing the Mark IV armor suit yet.
but a game titled Halo 4 will most likely be a sequel to Halo 3.

Even though your friends have not played all the games and may not understand it, my friend I hate to tell you but you are wrong in saying that the world popultation would not like it. everyone I know, knows the storyline and everyone i know wants the masterchief story and cortana story to wrapped up with a halo 4. A halo reach 2 is possible if they follow the books and Masterchief comes back to discover survivors. For the most part im wondering how well you thought this through before writing this blog down. Don't worry ive done this sort of thing before too. A good piece but make sure of the facts before you follow the ones who just want to trash things.

Halo 2 was a prequel to Halo 3... Does that make Halo 3 really Halo2 2.

It makes Halo 3 the sequel to Halo 2, yes. But there cannot be a sequel to Halo: Reach, because it is a prequel.

You get me? A prequel of something already made cannot have a sequel. Because said sequel...is already made.

Reach --> CE --> Halo 2 --> Halo 3

Besides, Reach is glassed. "Halo: Reach 2 takes place on a planet with absolutely no life at all." Sounds awesome.

Dude, stop.. Just because Reach was a prequel to CE doesn't mean there cannot be a sequel. They could completely branch off into a new storyline that we didn't get to see because they went Master Chiefs route. I for one would find it quite interesting to continue the story with Dr. Halsey and Jun.

Are you guys completely oblivious to the fact that other things are happening elsewhere in the galaxy at the same time as the events of CE? Or are you just acting like CE is the only possible way to go from Reach? Maybe Halsey and the rest of the known spartans died from the direct impact of a chuck norris round house kick? Idk, you tell me what happened to everyone else. Master Chief isn't the only character in Halo after all.

bungie is with activision for 10 years, and for now 343 industries has the halo IP, , and i think 343 will release some halo games over the next 10 years to holld us off and keep excitement, and then finally, after bungie and activision near the end of their contract, bungie willl announce that after a 10 year hiatus they want to finish off MC's story.

  • 10.27.2010 8:06 AM PDT

They already did continue the Reach story...The pillar of autumn teleports directly from Reach to the first Halo we see in Halo 1, then you know what happens from there. >.> Halo Reach is a prequel.

  • 10.27.2010 8:30 AM PDT

Pleas no more replies discussing how impossible it would be to continue Halo Reach's storyline. My main point is that it would be unwise to continue a complex storyline which half the population do not know in detail.

  • 10.27.2010 8:33 AM PDT

I don't think 343 should pick up where Halo 3 left off anyways. They would be better off not continuing off of any of the stories bungie has touched upon, and making their own game in a different time or part of the Halo universe. Their feel and style is going to be different from bungie, theres no getting past it. Fans will be able to accept that more if it's not a continuation of something that's already over. I think I would rather have a book (written by Eric Nylund) explaining what that planet was Master Chief was drifting towards than another game. He could also finish up the story of all the spartans on Onyx too in the same book.

Work Hard, Play Hard, Party Hard!

Keep Playing and Pop Another Head Off!

Most likely, 343 will do a Halo 4 mostly because its microsoft working them and its really about where the money is going to lie. Halo 3's ending set up for something new either it was marathon or something entirely different is constantly debated and will continue to be. I would like to see them show us where Master Chief would go instead of despirately trying to make some kind of Halo: Reach 2 with new character while the same events were going on. This is really the only way that they can pull it off and would just feel like a repeat of what happened before instead of a step forward like alot of Halo games try to do. What I hope is that they either tell a completely different side to the war that wasnt shown like the story of Master Chief when he lost some of his comrades or take a long time to develop a game that has you start training to BECOME a spartan by doing different missions then go into becoming an actual spartan in your own right. These are just some small suggestions on how they can take the series forward instead of just going back to square one or just making a reproduced game with extra content that we have to pay the price of a full game for.

The storyline of the Halo games is complex? News to me.

I think it would be better if Bungie made a completely new universe and accepted that Halo has run its course.
