Just to clear up some stuff, you can switch between your Dual wielded weapons and your single weapon. You press Y to do that. To discard one of your Dual Wielded Weapons, you press B.

Edit: I know you more weathered searchers already know this, but I have seen some confusion.

I believe if you switch while daul wielding it drops the weapon in your left hand.

Edit: I think they changed how it works since E3 2k3.

Nope

Q

How does dual wielding work?

A

Currently, to dual wield, you simply approach a second weapon that is lying on the ground. You'll see the standard "press X to swap weapons" message appear in your HUD. However, if it's a one handed weapon, you will also see "Press and hold 'Y' to dual wield". If you do that, you will pick up the gun in your left hand. R-trigger fires the right weapon, L-trigger the left. You can't melee attack or throw grenades while dual wielding. You can stop dual wielding at any time by pressing melee attack (discards extra weapon) or by pressing Y to switch to your secondary weapon.

zach you misunderstood the answer... melee and y both drops the left handed weapon, you cant have 2 weapons stored at once like you suggest

Why would they have two buttons for the same thing? There are allot of things you need to do, being redudant is pointless, This is bungie we're talking about. If you want to drop a weapon and pick up another one you push B, if you want to keep your weapons and switch to your Br or something you push Y.

Sorry but you are wrong. Pressing B or Y drops it.

Man, you guys are so set on your stupid theory, use common sense. I'm not saying I'm right, I'm just stating a possibility.

Its not though. 1 They said it. 2, its not the same thing for the button, one just drops a wepon and switches to your other, the b button on the other hand will melee and drop the weapon, its a difference.

Sadly you are wrong, from what i heard of the E3 Build, if you change guns you drop the one you are dual wielding. This is just another of a few things that were not good about the changes sinse E3. But i really hope bungie changes this, i mean c'mon it only makes sense that you would be able to keep two guns in reserve, but for some unknown reason bungie did it
