If Bungie (or 343 now) remade Halo: CE with updated graphics, achievements, and online multiplayer, but did not modify the campaign or story(except graphically) would you buy it? And yes, the graphics would retain the vibrant color palette, and all the sounds would be the same, and in terms of gameplay, nothing would change except for updated AI. Oh, and of course their would be forge and theater added (maybe firefight?). So would ya?

(This would also be a good way for 343 to jump further into the Halo universe and gain more respect from the long-time fans)

Yeah but they should package it with halo 2, especially since everybody was pissed when halo 2 multiplayer was shut down.

ya that would be nice, Halo 2 multiplayer had it all right and Halo:CE's maps were great.

so all the Halo CE + Halo 2 multiplayer experiences on 1 disc with both updated campaigns + forge, theater, and firefight would be probably one of the greatest things

Yeah, they should, make it using the Reach Engine, exactly like the original game, with online play.

Meaning:

The chief moves and feels the same way.
No Melee Lunge
No sword in MP
No new Weapons
They can add some of the newer features however, like destructable vehicles in multiplayer.

Bungie Pentathlon - who actually cares ?

It seems as if they are - I would wait until an official announcement

Lot of people speculating about how they feel about a remake, but what about Bungie ? How do they feel about seeing Halo: CE rebuilt / remade? WOuld be interesting to know.

Surely it would be like seeing your son / daughter being dressed by another person ?

halo 2 still the best game in the series. long live halo 2.

Dam, I miss the old days playing halo 2 with my old brothers in arms. Thank you my old friends for giving me this account, I shall continue our legacy.

Still can you imagine Halo 1 updated to modern graphics with possible campaign extensions. It sounds too good to be true, and it might be. I might buy an updated Halo: CE if they can convince me why I should stop playing halo 1 for the xbox/pc and buy the remake. It all depends on the "new" features they might add or upgrade in the game.

Here's your link. I wonder if this will actually happen. And how good it really will be. I have mixed feelings.

What they should do is include the original game with the updated one. That would keep everyone happy.

I have two takes on the potential remakes. I posted this over on Reach, but Ill add it here as well.

First Idea:
They go the route Sony has with God of War I & II and Ico and Shadow of Colossus. Which is to say they leave all gameplay aspects exactly as-is, but re-skin the game in HD (meaning widescreen, 720p or 1080p, and updated graphics). For anyone who has played the God of War re-release you can see the graphics are MUCH improved but not as good as God of War III, and the gameplay didnt change at all. The only caveat I have with this, is that if 343 goes this route (updated graphics only) it should include online / system link for both multiplayer and Co-op (but not necessarily include matchmaking) , and they should package both games on one disk or package for a reasonable price between $40 - $60 (which is only reasonable if it includes BOTH games)

Second Idea:
They go full out - remake both games using the Halo:Reach engine (or perhaps use Reach for CE and H3 for H2. Those games tend to reflect each other more closely). With the full out remake they could include "lost chapters" like including the marine and ODST missions you read about in the book "The Flood", maybe some more missions on earth before leaving for Delta Installation from Halo 2. If they went to that extent (full re-engined games with additional content) then they could charge $50 - $60 each. If they did that I feel they would be making enough to be able to justify also including a "re-skinned only" version of each game.

Instead of including a matchmaking for the re-engined games, they could just use the Halo:CE/2 maps in Halo:Reach That way they wouldnt be drawing down players from their other game, but adding to it. The added maps would also help Halo:Reach. They could then give the "re-skinned" Halo:2 its own matchmaking just like it was on XBL. This way the products would appeal to both crowds: The re-engined games would be for those who want an all new experience, and the re-skinned games would be for those who want the experience to remain pure, but want widescreen and XBL capable.

It sounds like a lot, but the "re-skinning" isnt (or shouldnt be) too complicated. You can see this in that the games Sony has done this to are only $40 for a pair of games. And the "re-engined" games would basically be Halo:Reach mods. Either path they took I would be on board and would buy both Halo:CE and Halo:2.

so basically another ODST? Multiplayer maps 4 the other game, campaign for another?

That'd be nice. Halo CE + 2 campaign on 1 disc, halo CE + 2 multiplayer maps on the other disc (for Reach.)

I'm not sure about the lost chapters, but if they include them the layout of campaign select should hav a list like Halo CE, Halo 2, then lost chapters(random short-campaigns) that do not interupt the flow of the other campaigns. But idk, bungie could approach it like a timeline that the missions are on, so all the levels are in order of date(including random -blam- ). I'd also love to see FLOOD FIREFIGHT. and 434 should include more advanced forges(like FarCry 2) and stuff.

I hope they listen to the community on this one.
