RIP Halo 2: November 9, 2004-May 10, 2010
I was the 2nd to last person to get kicked off Halo 2, see the thread Here
It's has been confirmed, here is the trailer for Halo: Anniversary!
Also, Here is a more in-depth look at Halo: Anniversary.
Halo Anniversary will be released on November 15, 2011. It will be XBL compatible, and you will be able to play online cooperative campaign. Multiplayer maps will be also be built into the disk, but it doesn't look like you will be able to play competitively online (LAN parties are better anyways!) The graphics will be enhanced (They look amazing, actually), but you will easily be able to toggle back to the original graphics. Oh, and there will be Firefight!
Not only have the graphics been remastered, so has the audio! All of the audio... here is a quote from a Halo Waypoint article:
"everything has been remastered sound effects beefed up and remixed, but more importantly, we took Marty O'Donnell's industry-changing soundtrack and gave it some deep, smoove loving, with a re-orchestration and brand new recording with the Skywalker Orchestra. So the perfect melodies, the movements and the themes are intact, but just glowingly more rich and lavish (and expensive). Anyone who's heard the similar project with Halo Legends will know sort of what to expect, but expect it to be better."
For all those who feared that the game would be changed to much, there is no longer anything to fear. It seems the game has been left pretty much untouched, besides the graphics. Also, there will be terminals hidden, just like in Halo 3, that may give us more secret clues about the Halo universe.
So what do you guys, veterans and newer players, think of Halo: Anniversary? To the newer Halo fans, I'm glad you'll be able to experience one of the greatest and most historical games of all time. Though, it won't be the same now, and it probably won't be as appreciated as it should be. Veterans, we know what is was like back then. Halo: Anniversary is a great thing, but there are definitely some down sides that I won't get into. Let's just hope everyone understands that the original Halo: CE cannot be replaced by a fancier version.

Everything below is old news, I decided to keep it just to archive the past months, it was a lot of anticipation trying to figure out if Halo: Anniversary was real or not.

343 Industries (The current owner of the Halo IP, NOT Bungie.) may be using Halo Reach's graphics engine to remake Halo CE, and possibly Halo 2. (It didn't say anything about Halo 2, but it's just a logical guess of mine.)
So what do you guys, veterans and newer players, think of this? I'm not really sure if I like this or not, Halo CE is a perfect game without good graphics, I'm not sure if would ever be the same.
Update: Well guys, rumors are only rumors, sadly. 343 Industries does not have any plans to remake Halo CE at this time. Here is more information: Link
343 Industries did say that it's a good idea, so maybe we'll see a Halo CE remake sometime in the future.
Update 2: Since this thread came back alive somehow, I'll update you with CVG's article that says "according to "industry chatter" reported in the new Games Master magazine, which writes that the updated game could run on the Halo: Reach engine and arrive ahead of a full Halo 3 sequel in late 2012. If true, the remade Halo: Combat Evolved could release on the original's tenth anniversary, which falls on November, 2011." Read the article for more information, and I'll keep this thread updated as I get more information. (As long as the thread doesn't die in the mean time.)
Update 3: Halo CE remake confirmed! According to Joystiq, the Halo CE remake will be released this holiday season! November 15, 2011 to be exact.
"The game is expected to support 1080p resolution and 3D televisions. Details on multiplayer are supposedly still being worked out, but we understand the remake will likely feature online co-op (the original game supported two-player split-screen co-op)."
Thanks to hadlermaster for posting the article in this thread.
Update 4: Halo HD to be shown at E3 2011! Read for yourself, and use your best judgement. Though, it is unknown (and probably unlikely) if there will be multiplayer or not, there is now more evidence of a Halo CE remake. This E3 should be a good one, let's wait and see what happens.
