My Halo 3 Limited Edition disc is cracking.
Now, before you point fingers and say "Oh, you're clearly a dunce who lacks the ability to use a disc properly, despite living in a world that uses the technology for darned near everything", hear me out.
I know how discs work. I know how to use them. I know how to take care of them so they don't get scratched, too. What I don't know is how you can get away with packaging a disc in a box with a disc holder (that little black nub that the disc is supposed to fit around) that is too big (half a millimeter according to my digital calipers) for the hole in the center of the disc.
See, when I take out the disc and put it back in, that little black nub applies force - too much force - to the central part of the disc and after more than 2 years of action my Halo 3 disc is now suffering from cracks radiating outward from the center that make me afraid to even put it in my console. It started 2 years ago with small cracks that didn't look like they would threaten the integrity of the disc, but recent inspection has revealed a disc that looks ready to shatter.
I realize that I'm supposed to call Microsoft, and I did, five minutes ago in fact. They told me that the game is out of warranty. Well, I call bulls***. That game case is defective, as it came from the factory, and because of that I feel that I am owed a new disc.
Heck, I'll even send the old disc in, just to prove that I'm not trying to rip anyone off. It works, I've tested it to make sure it runs, I just didn't want to run it for too long (and I had to take my 360 out of its perch and place it horizontally on the ground in order to do so, because I didn't want to risk using the game with the 360 vertical).
Bungie, I believe that you guys still have the connections necessary to help me out here, and since I have bought every single game you've ever released to the public I would hope you'd want to help me out. I'll do anything, even pay for shipping. I just don't want to have to go out and buy a whole new copy of a game I already paid for and treated like a baby. I mean, I bought a disc cleaning kit specifically for my Halo 3 disc, and I bought the Halo 3 edition xbox 360 because I loved the game that much.
So what do you say, Bungie? Wanna help a guy out?
