Subject: Remeber that bridge thing?

Being 100% awesome, 110% of the time.

On the second level you cross this little bridge thing...Is it a bridge or does it do something very important? (Holds together both half's of the halo together.)

I dunno, I think this warrants further investigation.

Sometimes a bridge is just a bridge.

am Rampant? no
Each microcosmic planet, a complete society...

Maybe Halo is depressed because it lost it's lover and now it feels like it's torn in two and the bridge is the only thing keeping it together.

You know, at first I thought "Of course its just a bridge. Why make everything such a big deal!?" but then I remembered something. There was a second one below the one you walk on....... why?

I've been part of the Bungie Conspiracy since Halo: CE

Finally, some intelligent discussion!

I think that bridge represents a turning point in Master Chief's life, in effect, the lives of every human in the galaxy are tied to the MC at this point. When he approaches the bridge he's faced with a choice...

Does he turn back, and wait for evac? Or does he explore this monstrous relic left behind by the Forerunners, and discover the horrific secret of Halo? The biggest turning point of the series is when he walks across that bridge, singlehandedly triggering the collapse of the first Halo, the events of Halo 2, Halo 3, and the destruction of the covenant.

That bridge, is the single most important bridge in the history of bridges...

Respect dawg

I have always wondered this.

METAL OR DEATH!!! 37

hmmm agreed, but why would a bridge be so perilous and narrow...maybe the forerunner liked to take risks? i think they might be housings for an energy supply...or septic tanks...who knows lol

l;abhrfiodj!!

I think it was part of a gameplay training exercise. It was there to teach you how to walk accurately in a condition where you were not under fire. It was there to help you learn the controls and learn about falling in the game

REMAKE HALO 1

Its just a bridge.

Don't forget, you activated it.

Heh... I just got a flashback to playing Portal with the Commentary on.

I thought it might have been part of the Ring's support structure that got exposed due to erosion. Halo does have it's own environment system after all, and it's been sitting around for 10's of thousands of years. Granted I'm no expert in Geology, so I don't know if that makes sense, but there you have it.

Is it really a bridge? Most bridges I've run across have some kind of railing to keep little kids or drunks from falling to their death. A bridge without safety features seems strange.

Housing for some kind of power supply maybe? Does it shore up the ravine that the river flows through? It's not big enough to handle vehicles. Pedestrians can wade through just upstream. A bit perplexing when you think of it.
I remember trying to safely jump down to that second 'bridge' and never being quite able to survive the impact or keep from sliding off and falling to my death in the canyon below. Anybody ever survived that?

Yes. Sliding along the side and crouch-landing was the key, much like how you can skip the whole level of the snow level (forgot the name ._.)

We're talking about the bridge at the very beginning of the level. Not the bridge you have to find the panel to activate.

i agree, why would the covenant guard a bridge if it didn't have DECENT significance? it does need more investigation.

  • 11.03.2010 2:02 PM PDT

I don't think the Covenant cared or even realized anything about the bridge. I think they were there to investigate the crashed lifepod. The light bridge further on would be quite different though. Maybe they could detect a power source and figured it had enough significance to investigate.

This thread got me thinking if there are other things in the game that might have been vital to halo.

  • 11.03.2010 10:06 PM PDT

The first time i tried to cross that bridge, I fell and got stuck on the one below it.

  • 11.03.2010 10:19 PM PDT

i fell off it twice first time

  • 11.03.2010 10:26 PM PDT

Don't worry, you're still your mom's favorite Bnet member.

I think it wasn't really a bridge, just exposed piping to keep the water flowing through Halo.
