Subject: Non-Public forum?

It is the soldier, not the reporter, who has given us freedom of the press. It is the soldier, not the poet, who has given us freedom of speech. It is the soldier, not the campus organizer, who has given us the freedom to demonstrate. It is the soldier, not the lawyer, who has given us the right to a fair trial. And it is the soldier who salutes the flag, who serves the flag, whose coffin is draped in the flag that allows the protester to burn the flag.Father Dennis Edward O'Brien, USMC

Killroy is serving a balcklist right now, his second one in 2 weeks. Hes almost caught up to me.

Theres no way the community has a whole would accept this idea.

And if its up to he mods, how will they know who is good when there time is spent punishing the bad?

The mods will know. They aren't these inhuman things that just enjoy punishing. They don't always blacklist when they browse the forum. Sometimes all is in order and they just look around. Plus the fact that when you send them a message saying "This [link] is spam.", they remember it.

I know they arnt zombies or robots, but there job isnt to reward the good, not yet anyways.

Actually, in a sense they do reward the good. For instance- If I made a spam topic right now and someone who had been spamming the forums made one, I would probably be let off with a "Don't spam Pimp!", whilst they would be blacklisted. I try to do my part to help out, so the mods might go a bit easier on me when I et in trouble, hence rewarding me.

By playing favorites the mods arnt doing what they should be. Spam is spam. If a mod breaks the rules then the mod should be banned. If a good member breaks the rules then they should be given the proper punishment.

They give everyone a warning. You would be smart enough to listen.
The average spammer would ignore it. Not a reward for you, just your not a dumbarse

No, if you help out then the mods will cut you slack. Why shouldn't they? If I show them 30 spam posts over two months and then I make one myself why should I be cut slack? I have helped out a lot, correct? So if someone doesn't help out at all and breaks rules while someone else helps out all the time and almost never breaks the rules, why should they get equal punishment? You can even bring this issue up with Achronos. I bet you he will say the same thing I have.

EDIT: I talked with Reiginko and he said that "it's more that we'll punish the arseholes we've seen before way more harshly". So I guess we were both wrong.

First of all, this is a forum. It can't be related to real life at all. Ever. In a forum, people don't die. They get blacklisted. You can't even begin to compare the two. Second of all, that made no sense. How did the robber help the communtiy? By robbing someone's home? I don't see what you're getting at. But you can't relate a forum to real life in this kind of a discussion. They are two completely different things.

if an officer of the law(happy now) were to steal from someone, should they be given more slack than a common criminal? Of course not.

You cannot relate the forums to real life! Real life has death! Real life has poverty! Real life does not deal with good graphics, or downgraded display modes! Real life has cancer! You can't relate the two!

I really think if you spam you should be given a blacklist, regardless of past history. If the mods cut slack to one person, then they have to cut slack to every person.

This is the definition of a community.

A group of people having common interests: the scientific community; the international business community

(Taken from dictionary.com)

Unless I am mistaken, that is excatly what these forums are.

And I disagree. I think that if someone helps out then they should be cut some slack when it comes time to judge them. Their past contributions should be taken into account when determining the punishment.

It's down to whether the glass is half full or half empty. You call it punishing repeat offenders, I call it rewarding good members.

And this got really off-topic. Let's stick with the forum idea please :P
