I just read through these forums...and some of the stuff yall say combined with stuff people i play with online provoked me to write this:
A) Don't ever host a game with radar. No elites play with radar and will look down on you if you use it.
B) Dont ever host an all-vehicles game at Blood Gulch. It is cheap, and once again, makes elites mad. The ghost is a cheap way for beginners to get flag returns and the tank is a cheap way to get kills. Only the warthog takes true skill.
C) dont accuse people that beat you of hacking/and or playing all the time. Dont be a jerk online, everytime you get beat gives you more expirience and makes you better.
D) dont look down on people you beat. I have lost games on other people's host that have horrible lag, and they look at me as a bad player. You never know what might be making your opponent play bad.
E) dont be a ho. The most annoying people to play online are the ones that use the rocket launcher/shotgun/active camo/overshield the ENTIRE game.
F) dont brag or talk trash if you cant back it up. If you get beat, accept it.
G) dont hump people you kill, its a beginner habit, and elites look down on you for it.
You might question my skill level when reading this...i can promise you i am qualified to say these things. I have played halo for 2 years and i play online 2-4 hours per week. I have gotten to the point where i win 99% of games i play, and i have enough online expirience to know what people like/dont like and what games not to play.
I liked your post, true on almost all points. I have two arguments however.
1: If you don't whore powerups and rocket against good players you will more than likely lose, I know for a fact that if I am playing someone pro or above and leave the rocket laying it will be gone the moment I leave. There is as much skill in being there at the perfect time to get the powerups and rocket as there is in using the rocket (which isn't much). Still.. you have to do this to win against great players.
2: Not only beginners hump... have you ever saw some of the videos of the Ogres or other great players playing? They hump constantly.. it's fun and if you're playing with someone who you know can hang with you then it's alright. I would say not to hump n00bs cause it's degrating for them.
Anyways that's the only things I saw wrong, and also try to join at least as much as you host. I never host, I refuse to host, and I hate host whores. Yes hosting is a huge advantage, it's at least a 10 kill handicap on almost all games on XBC.
Oh yeah Elites look down on Blood Gulch games period, I don't care if you use all vehicles or not. The ghost and tank both suck, I hate vehicles period but especially those two. It's not because I suck with vehicles, I mastered those long ago. Vehicles just require so much less skill than actually fighting. Radar sucks as well, no good players use radar.
