You have several options. Buy a wireless network adaptor for your 360 so you can connect to the router or plug directly into the modem using a Cat5 or Cat6 cable. There are other possible configurations but those are the best and easiest. You also need high-speed internet (though satellite is alright if all you want to do is download content and not play online). For more information, see this page.

buy a wireless live thing for your xbox or put the modem in your room and use the ethernet cable that came with you xbox.

Plugging directly into the modem gives the best connection, but it requires that your Xbox is close to the modem and it also means you can't be on internet on your computers at the same time. Second best is plugging directly into the router. Again, you have to have the Xbox close to the router/modem, but this way you can use internet on computers at the same time. Disadvantage is that it isn't as fast as plugging directly into the modem. The third option is a wireless connection. This is the worst connection but it allows you to be anywhere in the house. You just need a wireless network adapter to get the signal from the router.

Summary:

Best option: Plug into modem via cat6 cable.
Second best option: Plug into router via cat6 cable.
Third best option: Wireless connection.
