"He was born with a gift of laughter and a sense that the world was mad."
Rafael Sabatini

I'm sorry if this has been posted countless times (which it probably has) but I'm curious.

So the question is in the title. What is your favourite Halo CE level and why.

Mine would be "Halo", 2nd level, for its wide spaces, incredibly colorful environment and epic mission staging.

Thanks in advance :)

Your 'beliefs' mean less than dick to me.

Just about everything.

But Truth & Rec and Assault are the best of the best of the best. I don't know if I can pick one between them.

I think it has to be a tie between Halo and Silent Cartographer. The original Halo is the only Halo I've played the campaign over and over again just for fun on.

Soon to be breaking news:

US Coast Guard prepares for massive rescue mission after Iranian fleet sinks off shore. Reports say a small thunderstorm caused most of the ships to simply...fall apart.

A tie between Truth and Reconciliation and Assault on the Control Room.

AotCR was an AWESOME level, too. It used to be one of my favorites when I only had the Xbox version. Only place where you can use a banshee. xD

Two Betrayals. I love the AOTCR environment, but the level itself is long as HELL, thus, Two Betrayals. Other than that though, AOTCR is really fantastic, particularly with the music cues.

That's the reason AotCR isn't one of my favorites, too xD

Two Betrayals is by far the hardest level in the game. The opening battle in the wide hallway is a pain in the ass, and the rocket flood at pulse #2 are always so sneaky and always blow me to hell when i poke my head around the corner.

I don't remember having that much trouble with it. It was definitely tricky, but I remember The Library being one of the most annoying levels to date. That or maybe Keyes.

I don't know. They're all so great. I haven't played levels 6-9 in a really long time (though I'm playing through on solo Legendary atm, on level 5 now, so I will soon). Of levels 1-5 and 10... probably The Silent Cartographer and the last level (The Maw?). Truth and Reconciliation is awesome because it's more challenging than the rest. But they're all amazing.

Two Betrayals is always fun :)

Omg, I HATE The Library. I died so many times on that level. Every time I play campaign I skip that level. I hate the flood, I hate Guilty Spark's sarcastic comments, I hate it, hate it, hate it.

Library's easy, as long as you memorize where the rocket flood are and pistol them beforehand, and don't rush into the middle of every area. Rather announce your presence and let them come to you, and corner camp. It ain't hard. Hardest part is the first or second floor just because shotgun ammo can be kind of scarce.

Tie between truth and reconciliation, and the maw. Both were so good that aspects of the levels were reused throughout the series, for example: Halo Reach "nightfall", (night time sniping) and driving finales in: halo 1, 2(if you count the banshees as driving), 3, 3 odst, and a little driving on a mongoose in Reach.

I played the Maw to death, memorized the hog run, raped the level on Legendary (really wasn't that hard of a level on Legendary) and so it's really sort of a terrible level for me now. I still REALLY like the design though, and I love how the campaign goes full circle.

And the Library is meh, it's like the same thing over and over and it never seems to end. But while I think the level design is obnoxious, it's also very VERY cool as well. The Icon isn't supposed to be something that you can just walk in a grab, it's the key to a super-weapon for Christ's sake, and in that regard, the level design is really quite awesome and even more so is that Bungie was true to it and reused it in Halo 2 without rehashing it.

Well that's the problem with the flood You've seen one encounter and you've seen them all :) The only part I liked the Flood in was the Maw where it wasn't all about going through hallway #6, fight over wave 1 to 3, then wait at door #4 for GS 343 to open it, that Mr was the Library...
As for AotCR I liked how you could take the banshee and skip half the level if you were lucky (and fast enough).

AOTCR. A magical adventure through a snow wonderland.

Pronounced "Nay-uss"

There's something to enjoy in all of the levels, but one level, or should I say a moment on a level, stands out for me.

When the game first came out, I didn't even have an Xbox. A friend of mine invited me over to play this new game called "Halo," and that day we played until we finished it on legendary.

I have to say, the scramble of getting out of the warthog at the very end of The Maw was pretty -blam!- awesome.

Too hard to pick!

I would have to say either Assault On The Control Room because I love the winding passages and the incredibly high bridges hung out in the frigid, Snow filled air. Or Halo, Because of the multiple directions you could go in to complete the level, The awe as you first step out onto the bridge outside the Crash Pod, And the eerie, Unfamiliar feeling the underground areas brought out.

Multiplayer: Chill out

Campaign: The Maw

  • 10.26.2010 4:09 PM PDT

Don't worry, you're still your mom's favorite Bnet member.

I love them all for different reasons.

Pillar of Autumn-A huge starship, the first time I saw it, it immediately became my favorite sci-fi vehicle of all time.

Halo-After winding through and getting lost in the ship, you open into what-im my mind-is the most gorgeous space in all of gaming. So open, so massive, so mysterious.

Truth and Reconciliation-Nighttime sniping, AND a jailbreak for a strange environment, need I say more?

Silent Cartographer-The beach assault was enough for me to love that level. It had a lot of creepy noises.

Assault on the control room-Such an epic and expansive mission (the whistles of the wind still send a chill down my spine)

343 Guilty Spark-For the love of God, the revelation of the Flood. Perhaps a turning point in gaming history, yet again.

The Library-Alright, this one can be annoying. But to be honest, it causes for some heart-pumping gameplay.

Two betrayals-343's revelation shocked me honestly.

Keyes-Oh my God, Keyes...such a heartbreaking loss. Plus seeing how the Covenant are going down too, awesome combination.

The Maw-Need I say more?
