Through battle we will teach your frailty.
Through death we will teach your fate.

Hmm interesting you dont often get war Veterans who tell of how they shot a rocket to stop it hitting them, it's true with grenades though. Actually how about you can pick/kick back grenades at the enemy like the Japanese do in MOH RS

i remember the first time i played sidewinder with a friend of mine. midway through the game i told him to grab the rocket launcher and stand in the area where the overshield is in the middle of the map. i stood upstairs in one of the bases. we both zoomed in on each other, and with his sights preset, he launched a rocket at me. i unloaded almost two clips with the sniper rifle at the rocket (trying to see if it could be destroyed) before eating it right in the face. my friend was also quite dead, as i had riddled his body with the sniper rounds that did not hit the rocket.
so yeah, i think it would be a pretty cool idea to implement. i would love to see a rocket veer wildly off course after being hit, and slam into a bunch of unsuspecting teammates. of course, it would have to be pretty hard to accomplish.
to follow up on the grenade thing, i think it would be cool if you could just drop grenades (without them exploding). you could dump a bunch on the floor somewhere, and when the time was right, toss a live grenade into the mix and send the baddies sky high.

This would be awesome for close-quarters maps, and it would make the SMG very useful. I can imagine a split-screen battle:

"Hahaha! I got the launcher, you're dead!"
"Sure."
"Oh! Booya, who's your-!"
"Guess who the rocket killed."

Would be great targets for skilled snipers who want to defend their teammates. I see nothing unrealistic about it once you take into account that the Sprartans have superhuman reaction times and perception.

People say the rocket launcher is overpowered, this could make it more balanced maybe? I could see a rocket just miss someone, then a sniper shoots the rocket and it dets killing whoever it just missed... XD

BTW, I'm happy to see people vote for everything... I mean, it's funner when a poll get votes for everything... not just one gets all the votes (well, I'm talking like one getting 100 and the rest get 5 to 20 each)

that would be awesome to be able to shoot the rockets out of the sky... or if u just hit them once it starts to veer but if u hit it like 5 times it blows up in the air. would make things alot more interesting, espetialy for the gunners in the warthog

Also, I believe Master Cheif in a (made to be impossible) little test was able to change the direction of a pelicans missile thanks to Cortana...

maybe in Halo 2, each person should have an AI assistance that gives pointers on how you should handle things that you come across in both single player and multiplayer?\

Back to subject... If they do this, maybe they should make the missile a bit harder to see so it wouldn't be a useless weapon in halo 2...

Them blowing up would be stupid. Like that one guy said just hold the the triggers on the dual SMGs and point at the guy with the rocket. Once he launches a rocket KABOOM! he's dead and all you did was spray and pray. You could never kill someone with a sniper rifle, pistol, Battle rifle, or basically any weapon. Then rocket is useless. NOT a good idea.

well since the smg is a prety weak wepon it would be beter to make it so that could only alter the rockets course or make it take alot of rounds to blow the rocket up. and even if they made it so the rockest could be destroyed it wouldnt make them useless since rockets move fast and its hard to hit a fast moving target as small as a rocket.

Theyd only be hard to hit when theyre going horizontaly across your path, basically its only hard when it ISNT going to hit you.

I fully agree. And the "timing" for vehicles could maybe be used for a grenade throwback option. But I don't really need that either. I wouldn't mind being able to defelect/melee grenades, though. Jackals would be the king of grenade melee'ers with that handy dandy shield of theirs.

that's why I'd say make rockets smaller and faster, possibly with lower blast radious. That could even out the rocket launcher... I'm sure bungie could find ways to make it difficult to destroy rockets that are flying towards you so the gun isn't a joke in Halo 2....

Bungie has said that the rocket will now be a actual rocket instead of a bright glowing light moving across the screen, so you never know.

Look, all I'm saying is this isn't one of the brightest ideas. General your idea would be good, though, if the rocket was going to be strictly anti-vehicle, otherwise, it wouldn't be effective enough to kill well.

i think the rocket should still be a mass of molten metal like that MAC gun in th books taht be kewl but they should aslo could be able to altar the path but not by much
maybe jsut enough to get outta the way....Either way if it iwas distructable what is the point of havin a slow movin rucket?

There's a problem then, you see... Rockets explode, cannons don't... a Metal slug hitting a target would defeate the purpose of calling it a rocket launcher...

Oh man just think about it... your playing on Live and you see a rocket headed your way, you raise the assault rifle shoot it and the shot alters the rockets course and makes it head straight toward a Warthog full or enemies killing them all.

thats a good way to look at it i maen say maybe not a pist but a powerfull gun like the assault rifle or snipre or a shotgun

Yeah it would be cool to alter the path but you would have to have precise aiming. Like no SMG would be able to do anything but and powerful accurate gun could.

Great Idea! I totally support it.

I have never fired long range with a rocket anyway.
If I use one against another player, it is close and low.

ya destroying rockets with gun fire would be stupid. how often would you even do this. the dropping of the grenades would be kind of cool i geuss. you could like set traps and stuff. but i don't know. another lame idea to add to the long list of lame ideas that would very rarely be used. wouldn't it be easier for bungie to create a trip mine.

Grenades wouldn't be expected...

And destroying rockets could be usefull, but should be rarely accomplished... One of the "Luck" factors this game could have...
