Alright...I've read a fair number of the posts regarding this subject and I've seen some good points made in favor of making a movie. But I personally don't think that Halo would work well as a movie for several reasons. (1) In the books and particularly the game the main character really doesn't have that much dialog. MC is a great game hero and the books are entertaining but as a cinematic presence I don't think there's anywhere near enough depth to build a believable character. Basically he's been a soldier all his life...and that about sums it up. And we all know what hollywood does in those situations...they change the story and make up complete garbage. Resident evil is a fine ( or should I say lousy ) example of this. (2) I have yet to see a really good video game based movie. Some are passable, but that's all. It's as simple as that. (3) Everybody is saying that Bungie needs to write the script. If they do make a movie I'm all for Bungie having creative input/control, and while the good folks at bungie who are no doubt talented and very good at thier jobs...are not screen writers! Making a storyline for a game and writing a GOOD film script are two different things. I probably can't do either, but the point is they're not the same. (4) Again...game based movies suck! And this is just my opinion, but, Vin Deisel also sucks. You're welcome to your own appraisal of his acting ability. You just happen to be wrong if it differs from mine. Just kidding. No really, he sucks. (5) My final point is this...Aren't the games and books good enough on thier own to satisfy your halo cravings you jackals? Would you really want to take the risk of seeing your favorite game ( and mine ) crapped on by the cold money hungrey claws of the hollywood vultures? Even with Bungie in control something could go wrong, and people ( Bungie employees and the rest of us alike ) have a tendency to overlook the fact that they are making complete crap while we're in the middle of making it because it's something we want to do. Hollywood especially. I know this first hand. I was in a band and we wrote really bad songs, but we didn't think so at the time. We thought they were great because it was fun. We deny that what we're doing is awful simply because self critisism is against our nature as human beings. Not that I'm saying that everything everyone does is bad. That's obviously not true. The point that I've now wandered so unbeleivable far from is that even if Bungie were in control they could make bad decisions and not be aware of it until it was too late. IN SUMMARY!!! Game based movies suck...and Vin Deisel...and your mom. haha.
