Bungie, dont get me wrong, you are an awesome company. You have given us more then just two really great games. I'm a fan of both, im not one of those "Halo 1 > Halo 2" people, but I love and appreciate both games for my own particular reasons. I know you will never re-release Halo:CE with XBOX Live enabled, we all know here in the forums that you would make a lot of money from the deal, as well as millions of fans happy, but you refuse to do so.
ANYWAYS.
If anybody wants to play Halo:CE on the internet (and is used to using a controller like me). Get a PC with an efficient enough Graphics card, buy Halo PC, then buy a gamepad. You can get one that is excatly like the XBOX S-controller here:

The only problem with this is the people who play with the mouse and keyboard...are very good. Plus, it is un an "unranked" environment so you could be matched up with complete newbies, or you could be matched up with people who go to Star Trek conventions and can recite every character in Star Wars alphabetically. In another words, you'll get matched up with Halo PC professionals.
I'm the kind of person who would buy a Halo:CE Live Enabled AND Still play Halo 2, but since that would make a lot of people Happy as well as increase the amount of income to Bungie Studios and whoever else helps make these games, why would they want to do that?

Bungie, thank you for your brilliance in the creation of these games, I hope this thread will help the people who want to play Halo:CE over the internet XBOX style but since Bungie refuses to do so, will not.

Playing with a controller on Halo PC isn't the same because there's absolutely no aim assist to glue your crosshair on targets. If you thought you were good at Halo for Xbox you'll be in for a surprise when you figure out your aim is completely off using a controller for Halo PC. The aim assist that help slow down your look sensitivity when you aimed at an enemy is gone. You can't make precision shots without it so basically you've handicapped yourself. No wonder you think people who play with a M&K are "very good". Learn to use the mouse to aim in Halo PC. It excels at precision targeting. DON'T BUY A CONTROLLER FOR HALO PC.

I tried making a Xbox to PC controller adaptor and I was an embarassment online. The mouse and keyboard users had a huge advantage over me. I missed many of my shots, I couldn't snipe, and lost many close range encounters because I struggled to target other player's heads. I can't drive vehicles as effectively either because I can't look around fast enough to steer. Another thing I noticed was I couldn't run slowly. Just slightly pushing the movement stick forward made me move at full speed. There's no in-between. Moving forward and a bit to the left or right at the same time often didn't register correctly. I sidestepped or moved forward sometimes. My stick was calibrated correctly but the lack of autoaim and the glitchy movement controls are huge reasons not to buy a controller. Stick with the mouse to play Halo PC.

There's are tons of stuff you can do with a mouse that you couldn't do with a controller. No scoping is a lot easier for me. Sometimes I like to charge straight at an enemy but slightly to the left or right. When I get up close I make a quick 180 degree turn and melee for an assasination. I can easily jump, make a 180 and double melee before hitting the ground. There are no limits with a mouse and keyboard when it comes to FPS.

Bungie has given us far more than 2 great games. Actually, many fans find that some of Bungie's earlier games are more enjoyable and captivating than either Halo or Halo 2. Pathways into Darkness, Marathon, Marathon 2, Marathon Infinity, Myth: TFL and Myth 2 in particular are excellent games.

If you absolutely positively have to have online multiplayer for Halo 1and have the system to run it, Halo PC is as good an option as any. Personally, I prefer to leave Halo to LAN parites and play an FPS like Enemy Territory or Day of Defeat online.

I do agree, it is hard and I feel like I am learning to do it all over again, which is why you have to stick to it and "train" yourself to it. Its easyer for me to train myself on a controller then a mouse and keyboard...parto f the reason being that i've been playing console games since the NES, and i've been playing Halo: CE pretty much ever since it first came out for the XBOX 1 launch. But since Bungie's arrogance towards the creation of a Halo:CE "Special" edition/online edition, this is the only way you can play Halo:CE online XBOX style

if you have broadband, id highly suggest xbc over the halo pc
generally there is less lag, and i just like the xbox over my completely retarded pc
however, if you have 56k or someother dialup, i think you can play online with halo pc, but i would be ready to expect tons of lag

but then again, this is just my oppinion

Why would you want to connect a controller to your PC? Seems pointless to me. Mouse and keyboard is the way to go.
