This is pitiful. who locked the old thread? And for what reason. Just when we were finally getting somewhere too...

My idea. I'm gather a few people up and go to some forum that Bungie actually pays attention to and beg for an update. All of us. If I get too many volunteers, I may start a group to get organised some more. But don't be immature about it (Or in Mr B's own words, loud). Be polite but still show your desperation.

Yes, I noticed that thread had suddenly vanished. I guess their getting a little tired of our complaints. All we want is a little tech support and a few answers on some growing issues.

I spent half of my playing time last night dodging tker's on several of the Bungie servers. And of course the usual rageing hackers.

I don't think most of us are being unreasonable in any way, but, we are frustrated. Which is part of human nature due to others ignorance. I just can't believe that a game this big and popular could die so soon.

However I can help the cause, count me in.

Peace

I see no reason for that thread to have been locked. We may have been dancing around the smae circles, but we were being polite about it. No one was flaming; no one was spam posting to bump it every half hour (though I have asked the same three questions three times now...get ready for number four).

It was a civil post, a civil thread, and a civilized discussion. who locked it?

1. Who made the security patches for Halo PC?

2. Does Gearbox still have any legal right to change the netcode for halo PC?

3. Who, exactly, makes the final decision as to what gets fixed in regards to this or any other game? What department of Microsoft? Please be more specific.

Some possible good news. I got a reply to the hacking incident. They didn't read the entire email obviously, but they are directing me elsewhere.

To report complaints about the aimbot hack, try 866-727-2338, the hotline number for Microsoft's new Microsoft Strategic Technology Protection Program and part of the "Trusted Computer"(aka TC aka Totalitarian Crud) insanity they are affiliated with. They are an intended department for handling virus-related attacks on computers, but they also deal with hacker intrusions. I say someone hacking the code in their most popular PC game qualifies. So do they; I got the number from them.

If you choose to call, report known hacks, offer download sites with vids and pics for proof (or the program if you have it) and make sure they understand that this is effecting EVERY server. If I get a response from these braindead jerks, I'll add the number to my sig.

TeamKillers should be reported as glitch exploiters, as they are using the reset function of the game to refresh temakills and stay in the same server. As this isn not a hack, though, expect to be redirected or stonewalled at this time.

Bungle does not care about you.

They are so money hungry. It will cost them litterally only $2000 to fix the lag problem. Its pretty sad, because in the long term, they will make more money (better reputation). Of course, they can't see that far into future because of their greed.

People will remember bungie if they fix HaloPC. They will be more likely to buy their next game, because they know that they will support it after you buy the game, and not just abandon you after they have your money.

If they do not fix it, people will be less likely to buy their next game because they will remember how badly they supported HaloPC.

hmm I seem to be a lucky player, whenever I visit the Bungie servers they seem to be doing fine, less the terrible players. This issue has been raised time and time again. We even made such a fuss over "where is Halo 2 PC!?!?" that Sketch had to make a sticky in our forum telling us that Bungie had no news regarding the subkect. And for those who were here, the forum regulars begged for a extended update after 1.7 came out, to no avail. Other then having the moderators get mad at us, nothing came of it. Listen, enjoy Halo PC for what it has, an amazing camapign, a sweet multiplayer, and free, fast servers provided by Bungie. No, they don't moderate those servers, nor do they plan to. There's plenty of other servers out there that are good and TK-free, go play those if you want...

Mr B wrote:
The common misconception is that we are all shouting 'fix it'. But this is just about getting some answers and confirmation.

I have to disagree with you there Mr B. While not JUST screaming "fix it" I have not yet given up hope that we can find a solution to these problems. First step: asking the right questions to the right people. But before that, we need to FIND the right people, which means asking questions here, pooling our experiences so we can figure out who to contact with what problem.

Mods, don't close these threads. They are--at present--the last best solution to the monsters of halo PC.

As for the phone number, expect a redirect and no help. When I finally got through to a human, they sent me to MSN, who gave me a number to report Windows XP problems (because thats my WinOS). I'll keep following the chain, but I'm also going to re-email the problem to M$ support as they have been more forthcoming than any other as yet.

While I do agree that bungie, Gearbox, and Microsoft have dropped the ball and let it lie, it's in their best interests NOT to ignore us. As stated in so many ways, gamers will be hesitant to buy games from companies that prove they can't or won't support them after release.

Hello.

Well, I'm new to the forums, but not to the game of Halo. I was a lurker on the previous board for this and appaled when I could only find it in my history and couldn't post, there seems to be a rule against freedom of speech here, but, I would like to join your campaign. Is it too much to ask for Bungie to give us a simple yes or no as to whether they're going to bother fixing the downsides of multiplayer?

I know that everything that I have just said has been previously stated, but, nevertheless, I wish to join your protest. Thanks

You guys know that they are probally never going to make more updates for halo pc? Just learn how to make fun mods and have fun before the servers are dead. O btw only like three people from bungie actually go on this site or are on often. Most mods here don't even work at bungie.

That's what I (and I think most other people on this topic) want confirmed from Bungie. All they've got to tell us is "no we have no plans to make any new updates for Halo PC" or "Yes, we're in the process of it" and a little explanation if they have no plan, but rather than admit they have no plans and risk losing profit from customers who were considering buying it, they just leave us in the dark and pretend there isn't a problem.

The aimbot has breathed new life into this old topic. it's something Bungie and M$ can't afford to ignore if they want to keep any semblance of respect from the PC and gaming community. People have learned to twist the code for their own benifit, they have found a way to cheat in game.

When does it end? God mode multiplayer hacks?

look at the situation in halo 2 box modding. Trust in Bungie and M$ is already shaken due to the rampant hacking of that game. if word of this latest dibacle continues to spread, along with the knowledge that these problems have existed since inseption, they can kiss their gaming empire g'bye no matter what their spin doctors tell the rest of the world.

Who do you really believe? the guy who works for a magazine and says halo PC has a great multiplayer game? Or the people who play it regularly and tell you Tking is rampant and hacking is a daily occurance?

Think for a second. what are we really saying in this thread? I'll tell you, straight out and why the original thread was probably locked (though that last part is speculation until a mod explains the motivebehind that action).

We are saying that the flagship series of the Xbox console, the port and sequel for the greatest game of that platform--and quite possibly THE main reason why the Xbox platform survived to become a competitor with Nintendo and Sony--falls short on security, tech support, administration and performance.

It's no longer just one isolated incedent in the Xbox live communtiy. This is incompetence across the board (or in this case, across two seperate platforms; one of them Personal Computers, a region M$ claims to excel at in terms of security and product quality).

Ignoring this situation does not give Bungie and M$ a black eye folks. it opens a lethal wound in the chest of Microsoft Gaming Studios.

Read your game console history kiddies, then ask yourself: "where's Sega?"

But why wouldn't they tell us? They're happy to say that they're working tirelessly on stopping the Xbox modders and hackers, but won't say anything about the huge Halo PC issues. They're fixing issues with the XBox, why not the PC?

But why wouldn't they tell us?

Two possible reasons.

1.This is one of those "unforseen circumstances"; the kind of thing that could never happen during a programs active support life (opps; it did). it's been said time and again how the netcode for halo PC is crud. Part of this may have been intentional, to keep people from doing what they have with the aimbot.

2.All resources (particualry money) are going toward other projects. The Xbox live issue comes to mind. This suggests not only a mismangament of funds, but misappropriation between seperate departments. That smacks of scandal.

And there is a third option. They may actually believe this problem will go away on its own. The game will die, if left unattended long enough. But the circumstances surrounding its early demise will echo for a long time after.

I think that we either need a new patch or we simply need to get halo 2 on pc but made well to begin with.
Like ive said before, in any game there is, there will be hackers and tkers no matter what kinda protection u have. So people need to stop -blam!-ing all the time about tkers becuase its sooo easy to just join a different server. Even when i play on the bungie servers ive only seen a tker once. And even if there were an update there would still be tkers.
The main problem here is the issue of the bad coding for the game causing the delayed reaction in the environtment. Like having to lead for everything, and like when ur driving a hog and u hit a corner the game sometimes doesnt know which way to make u face afterwards.
And Sh4rk B1t3, and anyone else who this applies to, calling bungie greedy is just stupid and ur retarded for saying that. Bungie is a corporation and in order for them to keep making games and employ there workers they need money. Microsoft is the one to blame for having a degree of control over bunigie.

bungie IS greedy. even though they are 99.9% controlled by microsoft they could still do everything in their power to get microsoft to do something about this. yet they dont. they constantly continue to lie and keep secrets. microsoft thinks that they are untouchable because they are multibillionares but that is a lie.how many lawsuits have gone through for lack of support and lack of this and that. microsoft is being exposed as the money eating giant it is. this is like david and goliath. they are goliath and we are david . so far the consumers have thrown some hard rocks at them. Microsoft is brain dead. as long as this neglect is continued they will slowly lose profits from the pc, from windows and eventually it WILL hit the xbox. this is a bomb ready to explode. what im trying to say this is not only with hpc this is all of the microsfot monopoly thats involved. they say halo2 xboxlive has lost most of the hackers. thats not true. there are still many hackers out there and microsoft and bungie knows it. of course i have to give them credit they are doing the best to save their best game. but what about everything else. the hacking problem in halo 2 wasnt adressed till game informer or something like that exposed it. i know, i read the article. and silent death you are right. there is always gonna be tkers hackers and such, but not in the numbers that it is in halo pc. why? because those other games have constant support but halo gets security updates and dont touch the real problem. people if im becoming as much as an a-hole as mr. b. thats great, why, you ask? because at least hes getting the point across. shadow fox, it was a good thing you brought this back and if this one is locke i will bring it back and one more thing truechief5 reporting for duty. i will stay with you guys till this is brought to light and fixed.
