Seriously, it is. It's a great game if you really take the time to experience the openness of everything, especially Mombasa Streets. I love that level, possibly my favorite level in all of the Halos.

Still, no reason to say that ODST was the worst game just because of content/pricing. I mean, you knew exactly what was going to be included in the package if you kept up with the info before release, so it's really your fault if you went ahead and bought it anyway if you knew that it looked meh. In terms of content, there's a ton of content if you take a breath and just play to explore.

rule of thumb: double tap

it was intended to be a DLC, but bungie blew my mind, and its firefight knocks reach's out of the ball park, if bungie had enough time to had multiplayer to the game, it would be the most played halo game ever, keep on dropping helljumpers

ODST is the most underrated Halo, ever

I agree completely, It felt more emotional, mysterious and altogether more...Human than Bungies other stories. Not complaining about all other Halo games, I just yearn for the return of the subtle musical melodeys, the strong teamwork elements associated with firefight and of course DUTCH!
Come on Bungie, what do you say to an ODST 2:Survivors of reach?

A -blam!- Robot

An ODST sequel should rather be a DLC rather than a full fledged 50$ Failure. No offense, but who wants a human experience? I have a human experience every day. I'd much rather save the world from a race of alien cultists. Seriously tho, a ODST:2 would be a great DLC that I myself would buy.

For ODST 1 or Halo:Reach, ODST 1 wouldn't work but I'd agree if it was for reach as it could utilize reach's graphics and add new armours, maps and firefight voices to reach's multiplayer. e.g Micky,Dare,DUTCH! Perhaps even shed some light on Buck mysterious appearence in New Alexandria...

Besides look from bungies perspective, by charging $50 (£29 for me) they were able to put that money to work developing Halo:Reach. They wouldn't have had anywhere near as much if they only charged 1200MS points for DLC!

The problem is not ODST itself but rather what bungie did with it

It was a great game for people who did not own Halo 3 when it came out but if you already had Halo 3 with the DLC then 1/2 of the package was useless. (I didnt had Halo 3 then and was psyched about the online CD)
They should have added something to the multiplayer to make the package more attractive and mythic was not enough.

The Firefight was pretty cool but 3/4 of all online firefights I was on were laggy (obviously not everybody has great internet connection but when most games are laggy I say it is a programming issue) as well as the lack of matchmaking for firefights. Kind of made it too difficult for casual gaming.

Also the main buying point of the package was the campaign. It was a great campaign but since the main reason to buy ODST was the single player there were too few missions for $60.

Therefore I dont consider it underrated. I would rather say it had great potential but was half assed by bungie.

What's mysterious about buck's appearance? during the ODST campaign on the final mission one of the ODST say something along the lines of "this is almost as bad as reach" which would mean that there team was assigned to reach, because not everyone on reach died, many escaped. So it's likely they just survived.

It may not be a programming issue, maybe it's you?

I played ODST after I played Reach, and yea, after they rescue Virgil and they're escaping the beginning of the Mombassa glassing, Buck cries out, "It's Reach all over again", and Dare replies, "Don't worry, you got through Reach, you'll get through this too".

And there's a bit more back and forth on the highway about Reach too.

ODST was very underrated, I found it to be one of the best games better then H3, as good as H2 and Reach, personally. I didn't play MP though, firefight is all but dead in matchmaking there.

"That thing about always darkest before the dawn? Sometimes you just need to turn on a light." - Preston Marlowe

It was way underated. ODST was a great game, you're alone in Mombasa Streets at nighttime makes you feel like a lone wolf. Firefight maps are better then Reach's.

Lost Platoon was my favorite firefight map, it was wide open space that was MEANT for a Warthog, sniping, and Spartan Lasers. Reach's Beachhead didn't really fill the void, it was alot smaller then I expected and the hills made the Warthog flip over easily when it was a Rocket 'Hog.

I'd like to see Bungie put all of ODST's firefight maps UNEDITED (Exept for the weapon caches) into a DLC pack.

I WILL STEAL UR COOOOOKIEZZZZZ AT NIGHT CUZ IM THE COOKIE MONSTER

Im not going to lie the Mombasa Street levels are pretty good.
But ODST needed better gameplay like atleast adding some matchmaking into the game. So you can play team slayer, rumble pit etc. ID RATE THIS GAME A 8/10

I thought ODST was a great game, it was my first experience with the franchise and I loved it. I don't believe that I would have managed to persevere with Halo 3 had I not started with ODST. Although. it could have been improved greatly by providing matchmaking for firefight.

Jack of all trades, master of none.

i thought ODST was a brill game, it was my first halo game and now i can't keep away from the franchise.

I like that idea. I hadn't thought of that but it's realy good.

I think the reason people hate it so much is because it was pretty much the same thing as halo3 and most people had halo3 before they bought halo3 ODST, So people got really pissed off

Underrated, I'll agree. Good story, good characters, and fun to boot.

My personal problems: too short(campaign is really too anemic) and no online Firefight support outside of friends.

I'd say Halo 2 Vista is the most underrated Halo game.
