Need air support?

I am a little new to Halo CE online and I was wondering if I could use some mods, or is that considered really bad? I do not intend to make myself really powerful or make the game less enjoyable for others, I'm more into funny things. So what would happen if i went into a game with a funny mod or two? Thanks.

Custom edition lets you use mods. Although I don't think the normal version is supported to prevent mods either. I haven't actually bought Halo PC but am planning to.

It all depends on whether or not the Mod will effect other players. It's all a matter of opinion and the reactions will differ.

So I guess my question is how does the game react to mods? If it "senses" one, will it auto-ban, something like Reach, or do all of the people in the lobby vote? If the later, I think I will be okay.

There is no auto-ban in Halo PC, hosts have the ability to ban players if they feel it's necessary. The "lobby" is much different than Matchmaking in other Halo titles. You choose a server you'd like to play on and it states which map and gametype is currently being played. Some servers have a voting option at the end of the match, where the players can then vote for the next map.

I've been playing this game since it came out and I can honestly say people don't care if the server is modded. If they like playing on modded servers, they'll stay. If they don't, they'll leave. No one will ban you from making a mod on Halo PC. Even if Bungie or Microsoft didn't want you to mod the game, they're not going to spend time moderating it. You're perfectly fine doing it. I'd even say 75% of the Blood Gulch matches online are modded. Halo PC is nothing like any other Halo online experience. In most cases the people are friendly and you're not pressured into being good, just to have fun. Most of the time.

Yeah there are loads of modded servers that are fun.

It sounds harsh but they're pretty much all bad. Well, unless you enjoy mindnumblingly dull games that consist of doing nothing but pointing your weapon in somebody's general direction and getting killtaculars.

I have been playing, admining, moderating, and enjoying halo 1 servers for awhile. let me give you my opinion on "modding"

first off, get mods out of your head. their are hacks, and mods.
Any mods you can use without owning the server, is most likely ok. Glass mods are not, though. as they are unfair. A mod changes a file within the game. on halo, player mods mostly affect the games look, while SERVER mods, *the ones that only the server owner can change* affect gameplay. mods are, in general, ok on all servers as long as no advantages are gained.

Hacking contains "sightjacking" "aimbotting" "namehacking" "Red dot" "car bot" etc, a "hack" is a server side program which will only affect the player who has said hack up, most hacks are not allowed in servers. Sightjacker, which allows you to see the screen of another player, is normally used by server moderators. however it is mostly restricted to them. their are many "hacks" in halo, and its best to avoid them.

Now, you claim to want to mod, if you are playing on other peoples servers, you are mostly limited to reskinning your game. You can do this by looking for halo skins, or downloading a modding file.

as for getting banned, its impossible. Bungie and microsoft do NOT ban on halo, as the servers are ran by the players. you cannot be banned from ALL servers, but individual servers by the owners/adminsistrators of the servers.
