I have a Vista, the game is only $20 now, and playing Halo 2 for Xbox was probably the funnest time I've ever had playing Halo to this day. So I was curious if I should get the game, or just pass it and save the $20 for something else?

Depends on what you expect from the game. If you're just expecting an exact copy of the retail version for the Xbox then you may want it. Because otherwise it's a horrible game for many reasons that are listed on multiple threads in this forum.

If you want to play the singleplayer campaign - then yes, it's worth it. I played Halo 2 through on the PC and found the nice high-res textures and graphics quite nice. (Once I enabled VSync and cranked the mouse sensitivity way up - by default it sets your mouse to 'walking through molasses' mode).

However, the multiplayer on H2PC is a bit of a letdown. I couldn't really recommend that.

Ya it is for multiplayer. If you do play multiplayer get used to playing on Coagulation and District (and District stutters like a -blam!-)

Hmmm... I was most interested in the multiplayer. I mean the campaign was good and all, but the multiplayer was where it was at. I'll probably just pass it by then and stick to Reach I suppose.

And thanks for the info guys.

I hear a lot of people saying that all you play is District and Coagulation all the time. You can look through the servers and pick what match you want to go to. I hate coagulation, so I never go there. Most of the time I go to Lockout. I don't really like District either. I stay away from that as well. For some reason people make it seem as though there's no choice when it comes to what you play. Just a second ago I played three games. Lockout, Snipers. Turf, SWAT. Zanzibar, Slayer. (I like Slayer, so, I tend to only go to Slayer games xD)

I've only had the game for a few days now and only played a couple hours, but what I did play was awesome. Definitely brought back old halo 2 on xbox memories.
While Coagulation is the most played map, it's an awesome map so who cares!
Notable games I had in the short amount of time playing were CTF on coagulation, terminal, and lockout (starting weapon sniper, it was epic), a couple games of swat on Foundation, and an awesome game of king of the hill on Ascension.

I don't know what else to say, sure there aren't that many full servers but what I've played so far has definitely been fun and varied in maps and gametypes. Maybe once I play longer it'll feel repetitive but right now I'm having a blast. And as soon as my friends get the game and I have some people to play with regularly I'm sure it will be even more fun.
I'd definitely recommended the game, especially for the xbox vets. Don't know if it's because a lot of people never played the original on xbox or what but I'm doing fairly well in games as well. I guess it's because of the experience with the maps and weapons more than actual skill.

Didn't you just recently post a topic asking if we would recommend it? If so, how do you know you prefer it? (Btw, I prefer Halo 1 as well)

Yeah. That's right. I don't have a 50 in H3. I never got Onyx in Reach. If a game sucks too much, I won't even bother trying for such trivial "accolades". Besides, I've done way more things that take far more skill and talent than anything that can be done in a video game.

Team Fortress 2 is on Steam for that price and is infinitely better than Halo 2. Halo PC is also available for that price and is also infinitely better than Halo 2.

My Youtube - Halo 2 Online Co-op
BUNGIE AND MICROSOFT FAILS HALO 2 VISTA.

Everytime someone buys a copy of Halo 2 Vista, a puppy dies.

I would recommend Halo 2 Vista, only to give Bungie and Microsoft a bad name because the game sucks, and once you've bought it, there's no returning it. :D

halo 2 still the best game in the series. long live halo 2.

Dam, I miss the old days playing halo 2 with my old brothers in arms. Thank you my old friends for giving me this account, I shall continue our legacy.

Games good for campaign, but online seems dead most of the time time "at least when I play it". People mostly play on the same few maps with the gametypes being either CTF or slayer as a big team match. It gets boring after a while, but at least you can play halo 2 vista online with friends, unlike the xbox version now that all live supports been cut. One flaw is that there is no party chat system for those who play on the PC, that would be very useful when playing halo 2 vista.

PC gamers have had "party chat" for years for every game. It's called Ventrilo.

You hate the game I would absolutely make love to if I weren't afraid my mommy would catch me. You must be trolling!

Well, i would suggest it just because of its the closest thing to halo 3 for pc other than halo ce mods. plus it has gfwl and runs decent on most computers just because its graphics are half-decent compared to other games.

Don't even bother informing him that GfWL is crap software, and that the graphics were so unoptimized that a PC with thrice the specs of an Xbox struggled with the game. Just go ahead and leave that part out.
