I remember when everyone used to be active and had good educated discussions. Now people are inactive and I can understand that. But now its all competition to try and raise your rank. What is the point in rank? I hate hearing the question over and over again "Can I get my next rank?" I'm going out of my mind. But I at least figured out a way to make it so that you have a great group with no competing in it. * Warn all of your members to not ask for promotions under penalty of blacklisting * Try to make a group that actually has a purpose and is unique * Make it so that your group does stuff outside of the group like a clan, tournaments, or making movies. * Always send a pm to everyone in the pending members list with a question like "how will you contribute yourself to the group" and stuff like that so that you can tell if they are active and imaginative. If they don't reply to the pm after about a week then you know they aren't going to be active, besides if they do reply you can tell them to just rejoin the group. * Never try to reward your members with promotions. Reward your members with content. * Keep advertising so that you may grow and gain activity. * Never advertise like crazy or else you may keep away good members who want a good group. * Only advertise in the classifieds once a day at the most. Don't try to be on the front page, because true members search back several pages in the forum to find a good group. * When you advertise don't give away too much stuff in your group or else people will steal your ideas. Just give a general description about your group and put a link to your articles and/or FAQ section to make people actually look around at your group. * Don't make too long of an advertisement or else people won't read all of it.

Chapter Founders Bungie's Group Support
Mob of Angry Peasants

I just deleted mine today. After I left a haunting story about the master going mad from deprevation tearing down everything with some haunting last few words. Actually sounded cool.

Wait was your group ever even successful at all? Or did you just freak out your members?

No it was sucessful at first it even broke the 100 member line. However the most active members at the start just didn't sign in on bungie.net anymore and ended up anonymously deleted Then the staff that was some what active left. I think when it ended I only had one active member before I tried a crazy unleash ninja game where I gave temp blacklisting privs to everyone trying to give the chapter sort of an RPG theme. The idea never really took off. So I called it finished posted a crazy news story and 1 week later kicked everyone out and left. Chapter Deleted

I would have just left myself instead of booting everyone first. The group would have eventually been deleted by people leaving or when all their accounts are deleted for inactivity. Anyways I hope my advice will help you for your next group.

-Quaere verum.

Got a report? Use the report tool or send a pm.
Chairleg Productions presents: 'Console Wars' and 'Games as Art?' (also on Halo Waypoint).

I pray that people don't interpret that the wrong way.

Nice work though. It is a shame that it seems to be so dead these days...i'm going to go back to my corner and cry for a bit more i think.

My group is doing great because I'm not too heavy on rules. It's been around two months, and I've only blacklisted 1 person. All you have to do is have a theme (Like mine is the World's Largest Reply Pyramid) and people will come.

My group has 88 members but its a pretty pointless group. Also the main reason bnet has less activity is because people are getting bored of halo 2 and moving to other games which means if there not playing the game its unlikely there going to post on the games site.

That's an interesting theory and probably true, but i'd also like to point out that this isn't just a Halo 2 site it's a site for all bungie games including halo 1, Marathon, etc etc.

It is the soldier, not the reporter, who has given us freedom of the press. It is the soldier, not the poet, who has given us freedom of speech. It is the soldier, not the campus organizer, who has given us the freedom to demonstrate. It is the soldier, not the lawyer, who has given us the right to a fair trial. And it is the soldier who salutes the flag, who serves the flag, whose coffin is draped in the flag that allows the protester to burn the flag.Father Dennis Edward O'Brien, USMC

What groups are you in Killroy?

Most groups im in the people dont really give a squat about rank.
Its about fun.

In most of the groups im in there are 5 or 6 ranks with no power at all, just a name.

If you give everyone enough privliages at first, they won't ask for promotions too often.

I hate it when people start asking for promotions. But so far every group I have ever made no one has asked for promotions. Except this one guy named hunter but he was a different story so he doesn't count.
