While any player will have some degree of all three of these qualities, pick the one that you think is the most necessary to excel at Halo.

I'm going to have to go with awareness being the most important, followed by precision and finally reflexes. I notice a lot of time when I'm playing on XBConnect that the opponents that are the easiest to take out are the ones that aren't paying attention to their surroundings. For example, if somebody is up on one of the sniper balconies in Prisoner, I can often sneak up the ladder undetected and smack an unsuspecting opponent in the back.

In other circumstances, being caught from behind is usually devastating. Say I jump off the roof of Battle Creek right on top of an unsuspecting rocket launcher-weilding opponent with my assault rifle ablaze, and then finish him with a smack to his head. I could have also whipped out a Needler and easily planted ten needles in his back before he knew what hit him. In either case, the cheapest weapon in the game did him no good because he wasn't paying attention.

Knowing where items are and how to get to them quickly is always important for beating your opponents to the punch. A weapon or powerup that is not where it is supposed to be is always an obvious clue that somebody was just there.

While taking cover isn't deeply essential in Halo because explosions wrap around walls, it is always good to know crouching down in a certain spot or hiding near a certain warp will take you out of your enemy's view and give you the element of surprise. Crouching behind something is also useful when your opponent is out of grenades and doesn't have a rocket launcher.

I know bumping is against the rules, but this thread got absolutely no attention, so, yeah. Please comment.

I definitely agree with you - awareness is key. I play largely 8 playe CTF, so expanding your mind's radar is key. If you have a sniper rifle and and excellent understanding of where everyone is, you're effective range can reach almost 60-80% of the map. That way, you can be defending your base until the moment you commit to attacking the enemy's. Also, that moment when you commit must be the perfect moment - when the enemy leaves or switches defenders - and knowing what the enemy is thinking and where they're checking is key to determining that moment.

I think the best halo players realize that when they have the best weapons and upgrades they have an extreme advantage over those who don't. Combo that with knowledge of the levels and a stategy that adapts to every situation. Then throw in being able to whip around and kill a sniper with three head shots from a pistol and you have a first class halo player.
