So I installed Halo today, and whenever I click run, i goes to a blank screen like usual but then when the monitor tries to refresh to the typical bungie video, it doesn't...

ctrl alt del...and I get an error that says a problem occured with Direct 3D, please run DXDIAG...

I already checked my directX version it's 9.0c, and also I tried new catalyst drivers, and I reinstalled DircectX a number of times, and I also uninstalled and reinstalled Halo

any ideas?

Spyware, adware, virus scans always come second. What comes first are the reinstalls or uninstalls. Un-installs are more effective, because the damage could take place anywhere, like your My Games folder where your profiles are. And try cleaning your CD. Some data might even be corrupted on it. And you could buy a whole new Halo CD, but you could do this: Contact Microsoft for a new free, CD.
If that didn't help, I'm out of ideas.

Hardware acceleration? Aha! I had that on my computer before, my dad came on and fixed it. Now-I'm not sure, but I think you right click your video card folderand go to options. Oh. Oh my god. I remember now, it just hit me! My dad first tried reinstalling my video card hardware, and it improved but didn't work, then he reinstalled Windows. If you don't want to go too drastic, do a system restore point. If you don't know what that is, reply here and I'll PM you.

Do you have the latest update? It's got that fix for 256MB cards [X800XL].

Are you using the Catalyst drivers? They've always pissed me off - I use third party. They usually clean up the crap that ATi leaves hanging around...
