Subject: Halo: CE (PC) Is it worth it??

Hey,
I know most, if not all, of these questions could probably be answered with some research; but I like to believe this is a supportive community I am writing to. ^_^

Halo: CE (PC)

- How is CE for PC, in relation to Halo 2 for PC?
I had numerous technical failures with Halo 2, and it was overall, a horrible port from the Xbox version. I was not impressed.

- Is there an online multiplayer option in CE, and if so, is it even remotely populated?

- Lastly, is this game fully compatible with the "Xbox 360 Controller for Windows"? (This would need to be a definate must for me to even consider purchasing)

Thanks for checking this post out. I look forward to your feedback on my discussion.

Grenades are like RAM, you can never have too much

halo CE is arguably BETTER than the console version, it by no means is a bad port like H2V

there are about 3000 people that have played it in the last week

sadly, its not completely compatable with 360 controller for windows, if you install xpadder you can map the keys to keyboard keys and make it sorta work, only theres a few problems with the left analog stick, it works like keyboard keys.

see if you move your stick forward its FULL ON FORWARDS or not at all, and there isnt anything inbetween diagonal left forward and forward, so movement is a bit clunky, try out halo trial to see if you can play, i know people that use the controller in it...

50 in H2/H3? Great, but you still fail at this.

Halo PC is far better then halo 2. Halo PC was ported by Gearbox, the same company who made Borderlands. They are also making Duke Nukem Forever (for real).

The multiplayer is very populated, especially in Custom Edition. Halo PC runs on anything, even intel graphics!

It doesn't work well with the controller, however, but once you use the mouse, you will never want to go back, as the mouse works for real.

Yeah. That's right. I don't have a 50 in H3. I never got Onyx in Reach. If a game sucks too much, I won't even bother trying for such trivial "accolades". Besides, I've done way more things that take far more skill and talent than anything that can be done in a video game.

It's more than worth it.

As someone who really enjoys playing regular halo (by regular I mean no mods or anything like that), Halo pc really disappointed me. Played for a bit at a friends place recently and every game was some type of modded room. Add constant lag and extreme shot leading thats required to hit your opponent and you can see why I passed on it.

We used to have Halo installed in our campus computer labs and we had awesome Halo nights. But of course lag wasn't as big of an issue since all the games were through LAN and we didn't play with mods.

I heard a lot about how halo 2 vista has so much problems but so far I have not experienced any of these, maybe I'm lucky. Having played both now on pc I honestly don't think either holds a candle to their xbox predecessors, but they're both fun in their own ways nonetheless. Between the two, I'm enjoying the online of Halo 2 more.

As for playing with a controller, yes you can use one for both. I've used one for Halo 1, not for 2 although I heard something about the game being set up in a way where you even have an advantage if you use one. Forgot if the game itself supported the controller feature or if I used one of those programs that sets it up for you for whichever game, I hope you know what I'm referring to.

You must have not been around long enough to be a part of the better Halo PC communities.

Most of the popular Halo PC servers are those sh!7ty mod servers. Play on Custom Ed in the right servers, though, and you won't get mods. There might still be lag, but if you stay away from servers in mexico, you will have fun.

Worth it. Its pretty hard to find a good server now though. (I prefer non-modded CTF servers)

Add me to your friends list if you haven't already. It's a lot more fun to play with people from The Maw and people I know than random noobs.

I miss the Maw gatherings, but Halo PC is still worth the buy. There are still plenty of good servers to play on.

I just need the Endure Achievement and I'll get my Halo 3 Recon. :)

if you actually pay for servers then google it, theres hundreds of sites, gameservers.com is usually okay quality

or you can just run the halo ce dedicated server that should already be installed in your microsoft games folder

That's what I do. I have 2 popular CE servers in my basement. You can also use any tool if you do that, like SAPP or Gandanur.

yea well worth it,but like the others say play the custom edition for non-modded servers.Theres at least 5 servers that are well populated and usually have a great bunch of players on it.

I prefer it to reach, but only cause I can use me mouse and keyboard, controllers are still a mystery to me for FPS's :D
