That's about the worst reason I've heard to dislike Halo PC. The controls are fine. In fact, if you don't like them, you can change them to anything you want. That includes plugging in controllers and playing that way.

Edit- as far as the topic goes, Gearbox was responsible for Halo PC, so they have rights to it.

Yeah wow, what a bunch of dip-blam!-s here... you know Halo is a Bungie game, so does Gearbox. Halo PC, or maybe you saw Halo CE and assumed that the CE meant combat evolved, when in actuality it means "Custom Edition." I think that Halo PC is the best incarnation of Halo Multiplayer . No longer bound to the shortcomings of the X-box, one is now able to play enormous maps, use the Fuel Rod Gun, the Flamethrower, and the Banshee in multiplayer. Add that to free, easy to use online play, and you have one helluva game. If you have a problem playing Halo PC, because the controls are not to your liking, than as Shishka said, change them. If you mean that you actually have to lead your targets and take lag into account, than don't compain; every PC first person shooter online multiplayer has that problem, which if you're experienced enough, is no longer a problem. Hell, they made it real easy, if you don't hear the *bink* sound, than you're not hitting. Add all of that to the higher resolution possible with PC, and as long as you have a sweet computer, its Halo, but with exponentially better multiplayer.

Well, that's not my only reason, but that wasn't a good one I posted. I don't really feel like spending the money to get a controller for the computer. But my main reason for disliking it is because my computer doesn't like it and doesn't run it very well. The framerate starts getting jumpy, and I have changed it to every different visual option. But sorry for posting a lame reason before. The game itself isn't bad, I'm more mad at my computer.

I'm sorry, Shishka. :-(

bah

Nowhere does it say they made it. It's merely a list of games they've ported.

Halo Custom Edition has a few tweaks, such as fast shaders to speed up graphics rendering and slimmed-down net code to reduce lag, and one big difference:

You can play user-built maps in multiplayer.

There are some very good maps out there, the newest heavy-hitter being the New Mombasa Classic... it's an interpretation of the setting for the E3 2003 demo trailer. And it's gorgeous. (Apparently really fun to play as well, but since my DSL is acting up I haven't tried it yet except in Developer Mode.)

The downside is that they changed the shooting prediction code for network play, which some players find awkward to use and complain makes it harder to aim and score hits. (Again I'm not certain on this... as I stank on HaloPC and HaloCE anyway.) Also, it's multiplayer only so there's no solo campaign for it; but that's what HaloPC is for anyway.

I'd say it's worth the download.
