ok im making this thread because im sick and tired of mods locking the few good threads we have and trying to get us seperated on these issues. I say that we should make an agreement and set up an xfire chatroom so that we all can come up with a plan of action together. im saying because all were doing now is repeating the same thing over and over. it is time to stand up and act. oviously we are being ignored here and we are not being heard. if we unite and come to an agreement as a group on what to do, bungie can't possibly ignore us. so i will be setting up a xfire chatroom for all of us. i will only do this if i get enough support for this. i say we should host this on friday at around five pm mountain time(ill try to figure out times for the rest of the world.)so please reply if you want to be in on this. you can pm me, im through xfire or email me. if i get enough replies i will do this if not then we are utterly and totally screwed.

Only if being ignored is the same as not being heard.

There's none of the former and a lot of the latter.

I'd be an advocate to hold a forum between mods and the users to come to an understanding about what's going on around here. I don't think there's a lot of direct communication between the groups, and that's a problem. From what I can see the atmosphere and the situation hasn't changed at all since I was last involved about 4 months ago. That's a bit disturbing that this bickering has continued. I guess I can't place blame on either party because I'm just starting to get back into the community, but then again, that's not what we're here for.

Could someone tell me the root of the problem and recent examples of what's been going on? Maybe then I'd be able to help out in some way.

It seems like the mods are getting stiffer - understandable. The vast amount of posts and PM's they filter is enough. People making threads in which they rag on them is taking it further. It's understandable as to why they're getting sick of this. I guess I can say that I've been in the same boat as a mod on a few other forums - sometimes the low IQ of the posts and the constant complaining just gets to your head.

Then again, I can understand why the users here are PO'd. Doesn't take much explanation beyond locks of threads without explanation and a fairly cold shoulder from mods sometime.

A viscious cycle indeed.

Come now, there's more to life and forums than just complaining about mods and thread locks...

"I have no words that would do justice to the atrocities you commit to the English language, as well as your continued assaults on the concepts of basic literacy and logical reasoning."

I suggest all of you knock it off. The mods aren't ignoring you - they are enforcing the code of conduct as appropriate.

You ask for info on the Halo PC servers, or info on future Halo PC updates, or information on Halo 2 for PC, etc. The moderators are not privy to "inside" information - they have no knowledge of any such thing, so focusing your anger on their inability to give them information they do not have will only get your threads locked and you banned. You are welcome to ask and have civilized debate, but there is a limit to how far you can push.

Regarding your concerns I previously mentioned, here are the current official answers:
1. Halo PC servers are provided as-is with no administrators. If you don't like them, use a different server.
2. No information on future Halo PC updates is available - please be realistic, the game is several years old, and anything other than security hotfixes is going to not be easy to make a case for.
3. As before, no information on the possibility of Halo 2 PC is available. The sticky Sketchfactor posted about the topic still applies. If that changes, we'll let you know.

There is no need for a rivalry, thankyou Achronos for replying to him, and for other information you provided us, its things like this we can improve on.

wow. we finaly received an answer. this, achronos is all we have been fighting for a definite answer and goatboy will you quit spaming. davis first of all its nice to have you back and secondly what has us users pod is that since the begining halo pc has had its problems and nothing has been done . aimbots are now rampant and they do nothing. there are some sick people running the servers yet they do nothing. all we have been fighting for is a definite answer from bungie to if they are going to do anything. goweb oh how you are misjudged i have found new respect for you now. how ironic that the answers come when a definite conferance where we can discuss this like civilized people is proposed.

JesusCtheSpartan:
We do have a way to contact them that may actually be going to the people at Bungie, instead of mods or the webmaster. If you click "contact us" on the nice little toolbar that rolls down the page with the Monitor hidden behind a metal dome on it, you'll get a webmaster's e-mail, tech support, moderator e-mail, and this:

Bungie Studios
One Microsoft Way
Redmond, WA 98052

There you go, a mailing address.

me15ter, maybe if we organized our fellow Maw members and had them snail-mail this address, we could convince Bungie and/or MS to make Halo 2 for PC.

got union? You better, and quick. If someone doesn't reply to this aimbot situation (and I mean NOW) then Halo PC won't make it to the end of the year.
And, no offense and thanks for the post Achronos, its pretty much just been said that Bungie won't "make a case" for an aimbot fix, let alone a patch.

If you wanted a response so bad, why didn't one of you message me? The worst that would have happened would be I wouldn't have said anything. I respond to pretty much every PM i get.

Not you, but I seem to remember PMing SketchFactor a while back. I informed him about the aimbot and asked he was aware of the situation. I have, as yet, not recieved a reply. Did he not recieve it?
I can (and will right now) PM you if you wish, but I think we'd all like a clearification on this issue in forum, if possible.

To be clear: Are you aware that there is an aimbot circulating through the halo servers? it is a client side application that locks onto enemy targets and somehow compensates for lag in the process. If you or bungie were not aware, do you intend to bring this issue to the appropriate departments attention? If you were aware, are you currently working on a way to patch the aimbot out of circulation?

Damn, now is not the best time to be off topic!

All I know about the working aimbot is that it's made by some guy known as bitterbanana. It actually gets data on an enemies position, rather than just a pixel scanner that fires once it sees a specific color in the crosshair area. Supposedly, he hasn't released this to the public, but I think there was rumor that a friend of his got it and gave it to more people.

Luckily, Google doesn't seem to know where it is (at least from my attempts). This means only a select few of the several thousand players on halo pc each day might have the aimbot. However, this doesn't mean wait for the problem get worse, because we all know what kind of attention hurricane katrina got :).

What can they do to stop this aimbot without having to do major work on the netcode? They may aswell rewrite the whole thing, and they said they won't do that. This aimbot is like scripting for CE, everyone said it would be the downfall, but nothing has changed.

1. We love the bungie servers, but they are being exploited by TKers whom are using holes in halo to TK all through the game without being kicked/banned. Bungie or microsoft is paying for servers that are being abused by a few, and cant be used by many. Its also great to see AFK'ers still in the game from when you last played 5 hours ago.

2. No, but bungie could tell us if they are going to make any more updates (bar security patches). Also why all the main issues that were alerted from release were never fixed, that would at least be nice to know.

3. Yup, agreed. Bout time they put people out of their misery tho.

1. has just been answered. We may not like the answer. Fact is, we may hate it. But we have an answer to that question.

2. Also answered. Bungie has no plans to release any more patches. We have to make a case for their interest to be piqued. Aside from continued discussion in this forum, hit the snail mail and kill them with paper cuts. My suggesion? go to your local liquer store and grab an empty Bicardi box. Put your letter in that. If everyone does it, they won't be able to get out the front door and we can starve a patch out of em....lol JK.

3. see 2 : D

We may not like the answers we got, but you have to respect the fact that we got them. Props for Mr B keeping the fight alive.

This will likely be one of my last posts on the Bungie forums. I've done most of what I wanted to, as much as I think I can. Besides; just got my new Motherboard in today so I can get EQ2 back up.

Play fair. Good gaming to you all.

Don't drink to excess– You might shoot at tax-collectors... and miss

Computer: Power Mac G5 CPU Type: PowerPC G5 (2.2) Number Of CPUs: 2 CPU Speed: 1.8 GHz L2 Cache (per CPU): 512 KB Memory: 1.25 GB Bus Speed: 900 MHz

ATi Radeon X800 XT Mac Edition
Display Type: LCD Resolution: 1680 x 1050 Depth: 32-bit Color

Carrot or stick? There ain't no stick we can use against MicroSoft, Bungie, Gearbox, and in my case, MacSoft. They made the game, got our money and are on to other things. We need a carrot. Yeah, I've heard about how some people think we're owed something because some loser made a working aimbot, the netcode stinks, etc.

We need to use a carrot. What can we offer? For one thing, loyalty. We're fanatics or we wouldn't be here complaining. Apple has this kind of loyalty– I'd saw my arm off before switching platforms. MicroSoft isn't used to that in their customers.

The other carrot, more important than the first is $$$$$$$. Let's face it– if you made a product and people had a problem with it several years down the road and you saw the product as a dead end misfit, would you do anything? They figure anyone playing on a PC or Mac is not playing on X-Box. They'd rather have us pony up for an X-box and the monthly fees.

Maybe we can convince them that we'll pay. Pay for fixed netcode, pay for an anti-cheating fix, maybe pay fees for good bungie servers where real TKers get bounced. Non-Bungie servers could still operate for free. That would give Bungie insentive to have the best servers– why pay to play if you can get as good or better for free?

You paid about $50 for the game, played it for a couple of years for hours on end. What would you pay to make this the game you always wanted? I'd pony up another $50. If Halo dies, I'll have to find another game and cough up $50 and it may have it's own problems. I'd rather get this game fixed.

I know the idea of paying more money to a company that you may feel you've been screwed by is not fun, but as the old saying goes," money talks and B.S. walks."

damn i hate to say it but simonjester has an excelent point. we may have to pay for this and many of us would gladly do others like me would tell the person that sugested it to go to hell. but the more this issue progresses the more im begining to see that it may be the only way. like simon said we are fanatics otherwise we wouldnt be fighting like this. i still say we should go with my idea though. we should all go to an xfire chatroom (which i will make) everyone will be invited, mods us and anyone who wants to talk on this issue. i dont know, but i sincerely believe this is our only hope . i havent received any reply on this but i will still do it on friday 5:00pm mountain time if no one comes oh well i wasted my time but if at least 10 people come then we will be that much closer to a solution. when i first came here almost a year ago, i had hopes that this forum would be different that we, the fans would be listened to and that each of us would work together, i mean thats the way it should be, "the customer is always right" but now i see that this is like every forum. the mods either dont have time or dont care, there are users here who will do anything to destroy people on here and, the most importantly we are left in the dark. like i said i will stay with you till this issue is resolved, then like many already have, i will fade into the night, but not before this is taken to a deffinite conclusion..

Halo for PC (mac especially) is still seems to be profitable, I don't know about sales numbers, but up until August I think, Mac Gamers were still paying top dollar, $50, to buy HALO. Wile Halo has a killer campaign mode, Multiplayer is where it's at. Personally I avoid the Bungie servers (but not limited to just them) because of the before mentioned problems, aim bot, AFKs, team killers, etc... I realize this is a part of online gameplay, but these issues will kill a fanbase fast.
I for one, would have no problem purchasing the license to a Halo PC version 2.0, provided Halo 2 PC (mac) was nowhere on the horizon to interfere with it, and current owners would have a discounted price.
It must cost a lot to keep all those servers up and running 24-7. and the weight of a user crying because a X year old game isn't up to snuff anymore is minimal. But this is HALO! it needs to be up to snuff! I don't waste all these hours playing HALO multiplayer for nothing. Users need to be paid ear by the developers.
Thank you for your time.

You're being heard. Can't you understand?

Just because you don't get what you want doesn't mean you aren't being heard. You can be heard and get nothing that you're asking for.

They've already expressed to all of us countless times: they have no affiliation with Bungie. They're students or people who have jobs that volunteer their time, their probably sparse and valuable time, to watch over these forums. That's it.

If you want to contact Bungie, contact them directly. There's no better way to influence people and get what you want then going to them directly. Send Bungie a letter, start an online petition, spam their mailboxes, hell, give me a letter and a sign and I'll drop it off at their office down the street and march in a circle for an hour - but don't continue to aggravate the mods. They can do just as much as you can as far as this issue, but little or no more.

Take this problem of communication into your own hands. You're smart people, and when you pool ideas and resources you can get your way around this. If you find that Gearbox Software is the company that needs to be contacted - do the same. Spam spam spam! Email, forums, mailboxes, whatever. Call them up! They'll start to listen if a mob of angry but sensible people from this forum starts to enroach upon them face to face.

You wonder why they lock your threads? Because THEY aren't being heard. Even if they're lying through their teeth, you might as well accept it and take it upon yourselves to contact the Big B. If they're lying or not, they're not budging.

To be fair to both sides, I was browsing and found this. I guess Bungie does have some sort of affiliation with a few of the mods/admins here [?]. Again, I can't say I'm giving out the truth here - I have no idea what the inner workings of B.net are, just like the rest of us...
