I figured since I am such a pretentious bastard, and I'm sure there are others like me, that I should make a thread where we can all regurgitate our years of more-than-impressive thinking. All one-sided arguments, ostentious statements, philisophical questions, mystical experiences, spiritual revelations, riddles, political commentaries, book recommendations, and any otherwise progressive thoughts should be posted here.

For God's sake, please don't ruin this by spamming, belligerent questions/answers, or otherwise barbaric behavior. I just want to open a portal for the more thoughtful of us to spread our various messages of self-enlightenement; so that we all may participate in some form of intellectual intercourse.

I'll take this opportunity to make some brief statements.

"Surely I haven't made this journey for no reason?"

One of my favorite quotes, somewhere in the beginning of "The Castle" by Franz Kafka.
The core of the Human condition (dilemma), contains many fears, one of course being the fear that one's entire life, all of the sufferings one experiences, is for nothing, or rather, we spend our lives trying to answer the one unanswerable question, "why am I here?" It is often assumed, that this question will be answered in time, as many religions promise, that our short and painful struggle to exist will be rewarded, that our purpose is to transcend the physical, to attain some form of enlightenment. However, I sincerely think that even the most pious man, on his death bed, begins to doubt the sincerity of his life's studies; that all he has learned about life's purpose, and eventual reward, may not be true. The lifelong journey through heaven, hell, and everything in between, has been to no avail, that he has arrived at the end of his life, only to find that "as far as I know, we have no need for a Land Surveyor;" the purpose of his entire life was based on falsely held beliefs.

Thats enough for now, I'm sure everyone has something to share. It doesn't have to be interesting, just please don't be an idiot. And by that I mean, don't spam, and especially that means don't flame. This isn't where you go to judge everyone's opinon. If your going to disagree with someone's opinion, don't flame them, reply with an opinion of your own.

I have a sad feeling that this thread will be abused and murdered, so don't fufill my prophecy, please.

As enticing as it looks, it frightens me on a deeper level.... This is Philosophic in nature - but will undoubtedly be turned into theological debate later -- and the moderators won't be able to separate the minute points that separate Theology and Religion (minor as they are)

Unfortunately sir, you are in the upper 3% on this forum, and the masses will never adapt.

I think I'm in the upper 15%. I'm smarter than average joe here. If possible, sometimes I'll make fun of all those people by TYp1nG L1K3 tihS.

Also, I'm very cynical, and open-minded: An extremely powerful combination. I'll always have a wall of cynisism to hide behind when I feel intellectually threatened. Kind of like an evolved natural defense mechanism.

Cynicism is what allows someone like me to continue living with 6 billion world-mates, without either killing them, or myself. If you can laugh at the truely horrible state of the world, than imagine how much you can appreciate the few things of beauty that still exist. Halo of course, being one of them!

Oh, and let me make one thing clear.

Remember the rules, No (obvious) political discussion, or religious discussion. That doesn't mean you cant have a spiritual discussion. Just don't bible thump you're respective religion, and don't take a crap all over anyone else's respective religion. This is supposed to be PRO-gressive, so make something up! Use your imagination!

I always thought that this was a little amusing, (always being since last wednsday) that Bush has change his mantra from "America is turning the corner" to "Moving America forward". I mean no offense to any person with a political persuasion other than mine, but Bush has used "turning the corner" four times. If you turn a the corner four times, your back where you started, so "Moving america forward" is the best idea I've heard this week.

A sad political situation it is... for anyone who hasn't seen it, go to JibJab

I think it's kind of ironic, that we aren't supposed to post anything political or religious, I mean the name "Forum" implies a place where people can philosophize (is that a word?), and discuss political and religious topics...

But to keep this from getting locked, I guess we can't discuss such opinions here.
