I've noticed a lot of extremely bad movies on some of these lists

A lot of them happen to be very new movies as well. Ah well, I'm just old.

No particular order, but oh well....
- The Star Wars movies (Original Trilogy, Phantom Menace sucked, but not as bad as Attack of the Clones)
- Indiana Jones Trilogy
- LoTR (They kinda skipped a lot from the books, but they weren't bad)
- Alien
- Predator
- Alien vs. Predator
- Monty Python and the Holy Grail
- Kung Pow
- Open Range (One of the only recent Westerns I've seen, and I liked it.)
- 007 in Goldeneye
- Spaceballs (Ludicrous Speed!)
- The Matrix (Original. Reloaded and Revolutions were kinda weird, and Animatrix was just dumb)

I would never put a film released in the past couple of years in a top ten film list. The reason for this is simple.... In my mind it has not stood the test of time. For me, a great movie is one you can watch over and over again, and not tire of it.

The movies I have listed are classics (in my mind, if no body elses) in terms of everything, and have in many ways added something special- A new sub-genre, a new actor or director etc. Nowadays films-even very good ones- are the result of an economy of scale, and studios are churning out the same old same old, year in year out. I will go and watch a new film, enjoy it etc, but the amazement will (rarely) be there as it was with other (classic) films.

Oh i forgot- An hounarable mention goes out to The Usual Suspects. THE best twist in the history of cinema. A fantastic film-I actually met Pete Poslethwaite in one of my many local pubs (or 'bars' as you yanks call them).

5: Chopper

Eric Bana was great in that movie. you know the real Chopper has an entire autobiographical book series? i bet it's a great read. it's funny though, many australians think of him as a bit of a hero.
