Only the paranoid will survive!

Not to be rude, but don't blame us. It's not our fault someone is stupid. And people do check their posts here. There are just so many more people posing that the majority do not.

Before we start anything, let it be known that I am a fan of both Halo CE and Halo 2. I love both, and both are great games.

Could someone tell me the meaning of this?!

It looks like someone hacked the installation and changed the htaccess to redirect all traffic to the suspended.page site. We should have the forum back up and running (at the latest) by November 6th. Since that is the soonest I can meet with my web-developer and host server provider.

Thanks for your patience!!!

Alright. I know this is no fault of Bungie itself. That is why I have posted this here in the heart of the 7th Column. I post this here to show Bungie what a part their fanbase has become.

I know most people here don't H2S, with its radical views on Halo 2. I know there have been petty flame wars between this forum and there. I also know the mods here hate the site as well. I know the people there are characterized as over obssesed geeks with no life, but believe they are more than that.

The site www.halo2sucks.com is believe or not a good place to debate. I myself as a Halo 2 fan came there to do some flaming, but in the end I came back impressed. Most of the people make a valid point and do in gramatically correct manner. Additonally, I've found the place to be a great place to debate.

Now tell me why was the place hacked. I know only one person did it, but I guess a lot more probably want to high five the guy who did it. Was the place that much of a threat to Halo 2? Would it cause you to not like it? Perhaps if you really had such a view point and didn't know, but really, what the hell.

Now lets compare this forum we are talking on to H2S. Here we have open flaming without any real punishment. We have kids talking like "omg, u r teh suck". No one really checks their post for gammer anymore and anyone who oposes Halo 2 will be immediatly flamed. The vulgarity, while censored, is comparble to the imageboard 4chan with its "sage"es and its "no u. stfu -blam!-. gb2 /b/".

Compared to about years ago, this forum has entered degradation. Most likely because of Halo CE and Halo 2's populatrity, Bungie has allowed some bottom feeders into the fanbase. While Nintendo has some pretty stupid and other the top fans, but I don't think they have ever hacked a site that opposes their views.

I know the majority of the fanbase are still good and smart people, but still, this has got to stop. The hacking of H2S is unacceptable. Starting flamewars and unnescary conflicts can only get you on Fandom Wank...

I know that, but still. The way the fanbase has been reacting about critisism worries me.

And this topic is more about the B.net communities degradation, so it belongs here.

I'm not that active, but never dead.

Is this improving the Community? No.

Besides. I'm sure that site doesn't have the millions of users that this one does.

Not the correct forum for this.

Bungie.Net and it's membership in NO way support site attacks or hacking. Anyone asking about, inciting, recommending, or even suggesting such actions against ANY site are removed from this site.

You've made a whole slew of accusations and assumptions that I consider baseless and mis-focused.

It would be little different than if I were to visit that site and ask the membership as a whole to stop coming to this site and inciting flames. Which occurs, but I would be making a huge assumption to suggest that it was organized or supported by the community of that site.

I know you guys in Bungie have taken no part in this. You guys are completly free of blame.

And I know you mods do your best to stop any wrong doing on the forum. But with so much posting here, do you really think you guys get everything? There are still flames that go un quenched.

And I know it wasn't organized, but is a zombie horde organized? There have been trolls who have attacked H2S before. We've been spamed and have answer to random people who just come on forums to rant on how "-blam!- we are". There is no central figure. It is mainly lone fanboys with a vandeta.

I know this rant may be pointless, but I still have to say it. Lately the community's additude just frankly sucks. Anyone who says "I think this part of Halo 2 could improved etc" meets an untimely "alo 2 is pertfct.". We can't have a civilized discussion anymore.

And I guess here works as well. You are the mod, so you'd know this better than I do.

I've been around these parts for almost eight years now...wow! Maybe I should be concerned about that...

I think that you are right that people shouldn't hack their forums, but degradation of Bungie.net?It's ok IMO.

If you invite me to your group you will be blocked.

i respect H2S, although i do loath it.

yes i have seen some heated yet respectful debates but, just as on this site, it is one sided, the majority at that site flame the H2 lovers, fans, whatever you want to call them (me).the majority here ( i admit it is worse than there) would jump and massacre the guy who tried to start a "halo2 sucks" forum, or thread or even a post.

i think it would be a good idea to make one site where both go to just argue.

no flaming, just debating. i would but i'm too lazy.

You're officially banned from playing forum cop, Kilroy. If you can't get it right, don't do it.

Anyway, while it's too bad that something happened to the h2s forums (are you guys going to blame me again? *snicker*), I find it interesting that you bring your open accusation to this particular forum. I don't see you making a similar post in HBO, anyway.

Seeing as my general policy towards H2S is that too keep anything to do with them out of the forums, I'm locking this. It's not entirely fair, anyhow, as you clearly cannot say with 100% confidence that it wasn't just some yutz who knows about exploits in that particular forum model, yet you make a vague attack at the community.

Got a point. H2S has a lot a contempt for here. But they usually don't try to flame over there.
