Bungie forums = At least have a sense of humor and can still enjoy the game that both parties still play.....

Come take your verbal beating like a man in THE CAVE

Gamers who play competitively are a minority (I will concede, however, that those who continue to play H1 to this day are most likely ALL hardcore competitors since the rest of us have moved on th H2). The majority of us played Halo 1 and currently play Halo 2 for fun. If Halo 1 is better for competition, then I assume (I don't pay attention to MLG) MLG will continue to choose Halo 1 as the venue for the majority of real MLG matches. Is that, or is that not, the case?

If it's not, I wonder why since the MLG opinion on this board seems to indicate that Halo2 doesn't offer much in terms of competition. Is there a disconnect with the administrators of MLG competitions?

(I liked both H1 and H2. For me, graphics and XBL capability send H2 to the head of the class . Generally balanced gameplay is all I ask for (and have received). The precision balance some of you are interested in is not even on my radar.)

Halo 1 was not balanced-you started with a powerful weapon, you didn't have to earn it. Both great games, and I play hem both, but they are different games.

Is there anyone out there that can answer this? It's not a loaded question, I'm really just curious if the logic holds true:

If Halo 1 is better for competition... MLG will continue to choose Halo 1 as the venue for the majority of real MLG Halo matches. Is that, or is that not, the case?

It sounds to me like you already know the answer, but to humor you:

Halo 2 is more available for players, what with xbox live and all. Plus MLG can make extra money in tourny's cause more people attend them (They're still paying off winners of Halo 1 tournies years ago. MLG isn't using either game next season so it's not a problem.

As an experiment, last Saturday I did a little study with our LAN group.

We played 2 hours of Halo: CE and then we were going to play 2 hours of Halo 2 to see what everyone ultimately liked better.

30 minutes into Halo 2, everyone was begging to go back to Halo: CE.

I'd say that pretty much sums it up. And we're the typical LAN group. Been playing Halo: CE multiplayer almost every weekend since mid-2002 and were hyped to hell up for Halo 2. After almost a month or two in denial, we came to the harsh realization that it just didn't match up to the first....

A group of people who dislike Halo2 played it for 30 minutes and then wanted to go back and play their favorite game instead. In what way did this surprise you?

I've heard rumors about it coming to Live. Go to www.xbconnect.com. I think they have some info on it there.

You watch. Halo 3's first week profits will probably be 25-30% less than Halo 2.

Here's your sign.

I heard that rumor also. They are going to start using Dance Dance Revolution, because everyone starts with their own feet.

You Halo 1 Fanboys need to realize something, you are blinded by your attachment to Halo 1. Not as many people care about Halo 1 as you think, Most people are CASUAL GAMERS and don't spend there days thinking of reasons for why Halo 1 is better than Halo 2. They don't give a -blam!-, Halo 2 appeals to Millions of more people while the people that still care about Halo 1 are a couple thousand kids that lurk internet sites. Stop dwelling on the past. Saying Halo 1 has better graphics is just absurd. Stop posting on a Halo 2 site if you care so much, because no one else cares.

I really didn't know the answer as I'm oblivious to the goings on of MLG. Now that you mention it, it does make sense they would use whatever venue generates the most interest and money. I guess it all boils down to that in the end no matter what the business. Even MLG administrators apparently bow down in the face of wads of cash. Thanks for the reply.

Halo 1 multiplayer:

No boarding
A Spartan that slides instead of running
Over powered pistol
Poor graphics
Lame jump
Levels that are way too big (sidewinder, boarding action)
Blood gulch, where a sniper is even more fearsome.

People really need to let go of Halo 1. It is a good game, but its not as good as Halo 2.

"but theres no auto aim" - thats because its not online.
"grenade throws were better" - Throwing a grenade across a map was dumb. And pointless

I would be puzzled if Bungie made halo 1 for the 360. Id rather they took the best elements from Halo 1 and Halo 2 and gave us something new for Halo 3.

Lets not live in the past, Lets evolve!!!

Halo 2:

Lag
Host advantage
Melee system
Super jumps
No fall damage
No weapon balance
Bad maps

I'd take a game with worse physics but better weapons and maps than a game that has poor balance but looks good. P.S. the pistol is only overpowered if you're good enough to 3 shot with it, but most people are not that good.

Halo 1 just looks slow with crappy graphics next to Halo 2. If you like it so much just p1ss off and play it and stop bothering us with your retro - sh1te opinions.

It is pretty -blam!- after playing halo 2

There is a guy at the local Red and Jerry's that is there every single Friday night, taking pictures of his scores, writing notes, and videotaping his, feet? Anyway, he has special shoes lots of water and like four towels. Plus he is stinky.

This would be great! They could just tunnel the system link thing to random servers, and you could create or join parties from there.

For now, we have the unpopular (nobodies ever on) XBC.

-The pistol wasn't overpowered...That is like saying the BR is.
-Who cares about boarding? You can only do it on 'noobs' who get close to you with a vehicle.
-The master chief runs in halo1....you are retarded.
-Halo1 graphics are better than halo2....Except for cut scenes...Halo1 has specualr halo2 doesn't.
-Lame jump (No not really....Atleast EVERYONE could nade jump and not just host.)
-Halo2's maps are bigger than ANY of halo1's.
-Yes there was auto-aim and bungie addmitted they put too much in halo2 so shut up again.

Sir...you need to calm down.

Does this, from a previous weekly update, give any of you hope that they may do something interesting with Halo 1 on the 360?:

"We’re going to have more to tell you about how Halo one and two look on 360, and it’s all good news."

Or does it just tell us that they will be backwards compatible with no XBL functionality added to H1?

Only time will tell. (I've got my fingers crossed for ya!)
