I can't play assault on the control room with the disk I have. When I load up the level, the process goes half way, but goes back and then says Your disk is either dirty or damaged. Press A to continiue. So I press A and it quits out of the game. Please, help me and give me hints. Don't give me a hint like go buy another copy of Halo.

Try checking your disk. Clean with a smooth tissue. It happens to me all the time. As long as there is no scratch, you are fine.

I checked and there were tons of scratches, but yet, the game is still good. I still can't play the level, but now the problem now occurs with the Pillar of Autumn. Except it still works, just sometimes it doesn't work. Any more hints??

Edit: My disk is clean too.

try just putting a small (a little bigger than a pea) dab of PLAIN white toothpaste (the others just dont work, i use a brand called Gleem i think), and using a lint-free cloth whipe it really good for about 45 seconds, then using either water or water and a little rubbing alcohol and another lint free cloth, whipe up the toothpaste thats still on the disk. Once all the toothpaste is off and the disk is smooth and dry again, try it in the xbox. If it doesn't work, try it again. But don't over do it or you may end up causing harm to the disk. If it still doesn't work after 3 tries, take it to gamestop or somewhere similar to clean it for you.

o btw, if you notice many fine scratches after you're done using the toothpaste ,it's ok, they should be too fine to cause damage or cause a disk read error, and they actually get rid of some of the larger scratches

as long as it doesn't have sparkly crap or "breath strips" in it, i think it should work

you might be able to find some "gleem" toothpaste at a local wallgreens or wallmart or something, if the colgate doesn't work

You can also try going to Game Crazy or something like it and they will clean you gamedisk for you almost like new.

Doesn't Rubbing Alcohol work as well? Or does that only work for dirt? Are you trying to remove some of the scratches with... Toothepaste? Never heard of that before...

First i suggest clean the disk some. Then also take apart your xbox and clean off the laser that reads the disk. Good chance that it could have dust on it to where it would prevent it from reading it.

Go back to where you bought it from and ask for a half-decent disc.

yes rubbing alcohol and a little water only takes out the dirt, but sometimes thats all it needs

the toothpaste trick has been around for a long time, but for some reason no one seems to know about it, how it works is that the toothpaste acts as a mild abrasive, restoring some of the surface of the disk
try it some time, if you have a cd that skips or an old game that doesn't always read right

but if you dont have the toothpaste available, and you want to spend money, then you can go and have it cleaned by someone else, usually that could be the best option, especially if the disk is heavily scratched

I heard that you can use a little car wax on a disk that skips ( the wax fills in all the little scratches). just work it in with a lint free cloth and carefully wipe off the excess.

I still don't understand. How does tooth paste or car wax replace data that is hard to read?

Car Wax would never work. It would fill in the microgrooves where all the info is stored thus rendering it useless. The best way is to go to a big, well-known, brand-name music CD or Video Game store and look for the special disk sprays that fix it. They work best. A handy hint if you leave a disc in a hot place and it melts is to put it in the freezer. The Extreme cold will bring it back to its' original form.

You are well and truly SCREWED! That means your x-box is wacked, and must be replaced. Same thing happened to me. It also means you ned another game dsk so the new x-box doesnt get the same cruel treatment, you sick-minded sycopath. I mean, ruining a perfectly good x-box and halo! What the ****** is wrong with you?????!!

i still say the toothpaste trick, or bringing it to a place like gamestop are the best options besides buying a new game

Hey, I don't know if I did damage the x-box and halo. The X-box is fine, there's nothing wrong with it!! The disk is still in good shape, and nothing is ruined!! It's just that it won't load the Assault on the Control Room. Also, for all you who have given me such hints, I would like to thank you all, but I haven't tried any of these yet. You people are the best someone would ever need info from. ^_^

Edit: Hey Chickenlittle, I don't have any money to buy another copy of Halo and a new X-box!!!

Edit 2:Seargeant Keslo, my Halo is the actual disk from Best Buy. For nearly 2 years, I had it, but wasn't intrested. Now it's all over my mind.
