1. BIOS update for your motherboard - if you have a prebuilt, like Dell, I guees just get the latest updte. Otherwise, if it's custom or you know the motherboard company/chipset/model, go to the manufacturer's website, download the update, and follow their directions for flashing the BIOS [it's a pain to do if you have to use a floppy...just pray they've got some updater program that will do it in Windows].
2. Right click on the desktop and go to the Display Properties tab [could be properties], go to settings, then to advanced, go to the SmartGart tab, and disable AGP fast write.
3. BIOS -> Advanced Chipset Options [something like that] -> and from there, it's sort of picking your way through options until you find the timings. Bump one or more of the following timings up by one [ie, from 2 to 3] and see how it runs: tCL/CAS [Column Address Strobe, sometimes just CAS], tRCD [RAS to CAS delay] , tRP [RAS Precharge], tRAS [Active to Precharge Delay]. I'd start with the CAS latency, followed by any others in whatever order you please. Just increase one for a bit and see how that runs.
Now, I'm not sure which ones you want to try, but I'd do number 2 first since it's the easiest. The other two have the *possibility* of messing up your pc in some way.
