Well it just so happens I have my personal 'idea' ship in a short story in am current writing, it is a stealth ship, between the size of a Prowler and a Frigate, have sketches, dimensions, armament written down (makes it simpler to write about when I have reference material), the story is centred around the 'development' and shakedown of this certain vessel, the name is in no way a homage to the horrible movie. it is supposed to be an ultra-secret project with a single class produced in the period shortly before the end of the Human/Covenant War. it is a test-bed for experimental technologies, declared 'missing with all hands. this is it:
Name: UNSC Twilight
Classification: Experimental Light Frigate / Prowler Hybrid
Dimensions (L/W/D): 388 Metres / 144 Metres / 142 Metres
Hull: Composite Armour / Stealth Coating / Matte Black
Crew Compliment: 108 Crewmen / Unknown No. SPARTAN III
Main Armament: 'Blackout' NNEMP Missiles, Archer Missiles, Shiva Nuclear Missiles, HORNET Mines.
the design I sketched up for this ship is shorter than a Frigate, very angular with no obvious points of reflection, all weapons are stored internally and launched through numerous openings around the ship, which are covered when not in use and re-covered after use, the missiles aren't housed in pods either, they are housed in magazines and mechanically taken to the launching point, (even sketched this as well). Blackout Missiles as well are directed non-nuclear EMP weapons, meant to disable the shields of Covenant ships before hitting them with numerous Archer missiles. there is a single docking point and no other openings (hangers, etc.) which is located on the underside of the craft, the engines are recessed behind shrouds. there are also a number of concealed CIWS dotted around the ship as well, retracted when not in use. hope you like me little black ship, gave it a lot of thought and its my example of my 'perfect' UNSC warship, blending unrivalled stealth with decent armour and an effective armament.
