I recently picked up the PC version of the game and while it seems like almost all the effects are working correctly, the active camo effect simply isn't showing. Instead I get the simple transpartent look rather than the predator distortion.

Now, my PC is fairly recent and I have a GeForce 6800 GT so I'm fairly sure my card can handle the effect. I've tried forcing pixel shader 2.0 even though that's supposed to be the default with no success. I've also just tried reinstalling and going with and without the newest patch.

This leaves me to think that maybe there's a driver issue. I'm currently using the 61.77's which I believe are the newest ones (I downloaded them last week from Nvidia). My question is if anyone has had a similiar problem and if they ever solved it and how they did. I don't really want to downgrade my drivers, but if that's the solution I'll consider it when November gets closer (this is a warmup for Halo 2).

Thanks to anyone who can help.

Strange... On a new 6800GT *drool* its not working? I know it doesnt work on any card that doesnt use DX9 (like my 9200) but that doesnt seem right. The best suggestion is the one you already stated. Your gonna have to switch your drivers to an older version. And why are you using Halo PC to practice for Halo 2 which is only available on Xbox??? I dont get it...

Well, I guess I'll just get around to it in a couple days or so.

As for the "practice," it's more like I want to play Halo's sinlge player through again before 2 comes out. I managed to snag the PC version for $10, so I figured it'd be nice to play it at a higher resolution this time around and such.

It's because it is an Nvidia card which doesn't support the effect, only ATI's support it. However, I got a fix for Nvidia cards that will fix it, just AIM me at NFS480 and I'll give it to you.

Cartime is right. It's a bug that appears when you run on an Nvidia chipset. I've had to live with this for the entire time I've played Halo. However, I don't think the problem is in the card itself, but rather in the way Halo is coded (someone correct me if I am wrong). There is a user-created fix floating around out there somewhere, but I haven't at all been impressed with the way it looks. It looks downright ugly, imo. But with some searching (or contacting cartime, apparently), it is easily findable so that you might judge for yourself. :)

Huh. More fuel for the biorked port arguement I guess.

I've done some searching around for the fix and found some. Now I just gotta test it out. Thanks for pointing me in the (hopefully) right direction.

Are there any fix's for it for the Radeon 9200?
