Ok, you want a brief overlay of what CE is? Well here you go. It is indeed an add on. It is like Halo pc in every way except it has no campaign, you can download maps, hundreds of maps, and the netcode is better, meaning for example, the rocket hog actually shoots where you aim. I myself have other 300 maps. So download Halo CE anywhere. Here is a link. http://www.download.com/Halo-Combat-Evolved-Custom-Edition/30 00-74 53_4-10292206.html?tag=lst-0-1
And here is a link for maps. http://halomaps.org/
That is a very good site for downloading halo maps. Ok, if you do decide to get halo ce, here is how you use the new maps. To use them, you will need WinRAR, as the files are downloaded in a compact mode. I forget hte proper term. Here is WinRAR. http://www.rarlab.com/download.htm. Select version 3.51, the top one. Install it anywhere. Ok, now download the maps to my computer/local drive/program files/microsoft games/Halo custom edition/maps. Once in their, right click on the map, and you will see the option for," extract here." Click that one, it will then extract the map in your folder, and now it is usable in CE. Keep in mind. For every map you download, the longer it takes to load CE.
Another good hint, once extracted, get rid of the Zip file. And then create a new folder, and make copy of every map you bring in and put it in that folder. This is in case anything goes wrong with CE. Because if you ever need to reinstall CE, those maps will delete along with it, so backup maps would be there to back you up. Make sure to never mess with these things in the CE folder. bitmaps.map, loc.map, sound.map, and ui.map. These are the main components of ce.
