While all this information can be found quickly on google, I'd like to have a thread/discussion dedicated to it and hopefully help some people out.
I looked around for a related thread, but I couldn't find one.Sorry if this has been posted before.
What is a nameplate?
Icons that appear next to your gamertag, such as the Septagon. You must activate a nameplate via Bungie.net.
How do I activate a nameplate?
Follow this link and click "Change nameplate" on the desired nameplate.
Certain requirements must be met for certain nameplates.
Halo 2 Nameplates:
Septagon - Linked Gamertag to Bungie.net
Bungie.net - Bungie.net Webteam only.
Bungie - Bungie Employees only.
Halo 3 Nameplates:
Septagon - Linked Gamertag to Bungie.net
Bungie - Available to Bungie Employees only.
Halo: Reach Nameplates (And how to unlock) them:
Default - Blank emblem (Unlocked by default; All players have this unless changed).
Septagon - linked Gamertag to Bungie.net
DMR - Bungie: Pro subscriber.
Bungie - Available to Bungie Employees only.
Marathon - Played Marathon 2: Durandal on your XBox LIVE account.
Halo 1 - Unlocked by entering your Halo: CE PC/Mac product key
Halo 2 - Played Halo: 2 prior to April 14th, 2010 [4/14/10] (20 days before Halo: Reach Beta.
Halo 3 - Played Halo 3 on your XBox LIVE account.
ODST - Played Halo 3: ODST on your XBox LIVE account.
Assualt Rifle - Participated in Halo: Reach Beta.
SPARTAN helmet - Obtain four of five of the following nameplates: Halo PC/Mac, Halo 2, Halo 3, Halo 3 ODST, or Halo Reach Beta
HALO - Obtaining the Halo 1, Halo 2, and Halo 3 nameplates.
Star - Perform certain action in Halo: Reach on your XBox LIVE account.
