BUNGIE AND MICROSOFT FAILS HALO 2 VISTA.

Everytime someone buys a copy of Halo 2 Vista, a puppy dies.

...Halo 3, ODST and Reach are not on PC.

All I can say is great job, Microsuck, Bungie should be ashamed they didn't get into the competition, while they were with Microsoft they should've taken an interest in PC and Xbox 360.

Who else is buying Black Ops from Steam?

Grenades are like RAM, you can never have too much

I'm sure as hell not.
its more casualized than halo 2
Plus bobby kotick -blam!- all over it.

oh, and microsoft doesnt want to support PC gaming, or else people may realize their beloved console with five year old hardware is keeping the gaming industry down

50 in H2/H3? Great, but you still fail at this.

I'm sticking with cod4 and WaW. Black OPs doesn't have 64 player FFA action. And VAC was ineffective with MW2.

Oh, and Microsoft is making a few new PC games: Fable III, AoE online (which will be free), and MS Flight.

Well, you know, when they did come out with Halo 2 Vista people just complained about all its flaws and flung poop at Bungie/Microsoft for it. So, I guess they just decided not to try to give anything to the PC community anymore if they were going to be so ungrateful.

That's because they did it wrong, I know what I would've liked to make with a map editor, some AI maps, campaign maps sharing these maps online. impossible on H2V.

Halo 2 Vista was a Xbox 1 game made with Xbox 1 limitations and ported to PC, with the same Xbox 1 limitations.

The point is this, there is competition, and Bungie has ignored it, people say this and that about COD Black Ops, and what is Bungie doing with Halo?
They're feeding Microsucks old-age-cashcow the Xbox 360.

I appreciate that they escaped the clutches of Xbox 360 exclusivity, however that doesn't change anything with the Halo IP.

Yeah. That's right. I don't have a 50 in H3. I never got Onyx in Reach. If a game sucks too much, I won't even bother trying for such trivial "accolades". Besides, I've done way more things that take far more skill and talent than anything that can be done in a video game.

Because it sucks. It's the equivalent of opening a Christmas present, only to find that a huge lump of crap inside. Except you paid full price for said Christmas present. So really, the gamers are complaining about receiving crap for the price of gold.

H2v was a terrible port. If it had been a good port, people would have played it. It's that simple.

People forget that Bungie circa 1999 was a Mac/PC developer. When Microsoft bought Bungie for Halo, the original Bungie basically disintegrated. Bungie is just a name now, and they develop Xbox games. They might as well be different studios.

Today's Bungie doesn't make PC games. They can't. They forgot how. That's why Gearbox developed Halo PC and why Microsoft Game Studios (Hired Gun) developed H2v. It's also why MacSoft developed Halo for the Mac, not Bungie who ironically was first and foremost a studio that made games for the Mac.

As for the cross platform stuff, Bungie hinted that it was possible, but Hired Gun probably just found it to be too much work, sort of like how making the mouse work right was too much work.

It was a terrible port, but they had more of an obligation to their console players to work on the new Halos. That's where most of their fan base is, so, therefore, they should pay more attention to them than the PC community. Bungie did what they could do with Microsoft controlling them. No matter what you say about it, it is Halo 2 PC. It might be a terrible port, but that's the best that Bungie could do for us. I'm sure if they were to have had time/money/allowance to make it themselves, they would have done a much better job with it.

Other studios have no problem making a game for PC/360/PS3/Wii, Bungie is actually in the minority.

When you make a mistake you should learn from it and try to do better next time.

Microsoft's mistake was poorly developing H2V. Sometimes mistakes can be fixed sometimes they cannot. If Microsoft cared it would offer the appropriate fixes/patches for H2V.

No one's being ungrateful. People are upset that H2V was released with many problems. I believe they have every right to be upset.

Are you kidding? Grateful, for what? For Microsoft recycling an old game with inept help of a tiny group of chumps who vanished after release, for the sake of conning people into shelling out for Windows Blister? Grateful to Bungie who after release did an about-face and denied any involvement with the port? I think you need to stop idolizing these two sub-standard companies and wake up. It's your own selfishness that keeps you from admitting to what's wrong with H2V. Feel free to have fun once the perpetrators come clean and the program is fixed. Do you know how annoying it is to see these candy-coated pro-H2V posts? It's propaganda and it's false.

Glorifying the game and the companies that barfed it out will only prevent their problems from ever being widely recognized and fixed.

But I am really interested in modding support. :)

Halo 2 Vista has been the utter downgrade of custom content, than what mods were made for Halo 2 Xbox.

And that's what black OPS will have, and it's what cod4 has had since 2007: Proper mod support. Mods that download instantly when you join a server, and I mean real mods, not just custom maps.

I tried to explain why this game is -blam!- on GFWL, but what we have there is too many idiot fanboys, they obviously have no standards.

There are actually too many ignorant people, than there are conscious people like you and me.
You couldn't possibly get all that information into dumb fanboys' heads, they know nothing, they will blindingly accept what crap was presented to them, and never question that something before was better.

E4web

Thanks for opening up old wounds, Shock120.

I've never quite understood you. You modify Halo 2 Vista, yet bash Bungie, Halo fans and Microsoft for releasing the game. You do realise that without Microsoft, we would have never had the Halo we love, right? And that includes Halo CE/Custom. Yes, it was wrong for Microsoft to release such a shoddy product, but people bought it right? You included. That was the bottom line for H2V, to ride on the success of the Xbox version and promote the GFWL and Windows Vista platforms, not to promote the game itself. Microsoft has learned a lesson from this though; it flopped big time, and that's one of the (albeit lesser) reasons why we won't see a Halo 3/Reach PC version in the near future.

If you hate Halo 2 Vista so much, just stick to Halo PC/Custom or modify the XBox version. It's practically the same thing, except you can actually modify the game to a greater degree. It's quite a simple option; if you don't like it, stop supporting it, because by modding you are inadvertently supporting the product. Yes, importing new geometry and tags would have been refreshing for H2V, and it would have lived a much longer life than it did, but can't you just let go already?

I looked forward to modifying Halo 2 Vista too, but I gave up on it due to the lacking toolset (if it could be called that). There's a reason why we never got to modify the game, and that relates to the bottom line: money. Microsoft don't want you potentially releasing a new game or importing content from other IPs (because that's how powerful the tag engine system is, as you probably know) out of something you get for a small fee. They want you to play in a walled garden, and that's why H2V sucked, and is also the we have The Forge on Halo 3/Reach, as it effectively negates any justification for a PC version of those titles.

I'm sure there are other, greater avenues available for your talent, so why restrict yourself to Halo 2 Vista? Just move on and stop making these borderline troll posts by bringing up another franchise. Because comparing two games with a release gap of six years (H2V's date doesn't count... it's the same as the XBox version, even so it's still a considerable gap of three years) makes for an effective comparison, right? Most of the community here has moved on from H2V by sticking to Halo PC/Custom or playing H2X over Kai/XBC. Or hell, even playing Halo: Reach.

Me? I've moved on to the SourceSDK, and I'm looking forward to IdTech4's GPL release.

Everyone can use a memory editor, I was not special in that case, I only recorded videos because, it'd be the last things I do or see interesting in this game.

Add my steam k, Wazilla.
I bought all Valve games, and would be happy to meet more people.

Also the topic, should've been more about multiplatform titles, COD was a bad example.
There are other titles that were on multiple platforms too. :D

Edit.
I think we all did a good thing letting the Halo 3 for PC topic die.
It's time to let this section die too, I'll lead by example, after this day I won't post here, I suggest all you do the same.

Microsoft is the company with the bucks to get it realized. I'd like to think Bungie people would be happy to make the rest of the Halo games playable on Windows, too. Bungie seems to care about what fans and customers want. Microsoft obviously doesn't. Hopefully the next great franchise will be more universal.

I'm not buying Black Ops, and probably anything else. H2V showed me how easy it is to get totally screwed by recent games and their DRM crap. I don't like paying $50 for game and then having it stolen back. Xonotic and Warsow are my thing now.
