I realize that becoming a moderator will probably never happen, but I want to know: What did you guys do in the community before being made moderator? Is there any advice you could give me?

Thanks guys, I appricate it.

dude, you pulled a jesus!

1. Don't ask to be one
2. Be helpful to the community
3. Don't flame or spam

That's basicly it, but even if you do that, it's still almost a snowball's chance in hell you'll become one.

Seventh Column Contests

You have to be respected and helpful member. Have to know what you are talking about and know your English well. Being banned will make your chances slim, spaming and bumping will make you unacceptable. Basically, you have to prove yourself. Obviously they look for more stuff than just this.

Edit: Banned from this site not the game.

Well you don't moderate the game do you? :P

However, i'm sure if you were banned from live it may affect their decision.

Indeed. And I doubt they'll give you moderator powers with that name :P

Nah, I'm joking. But don't ask to be one, and just be helpful. Don't tell people what to do though, offer suggestions. The mods tell people what to do, not us.

I cant believe people still ask this. How long till the search feature comes online so people can look up the answer rather than post for it.

Basically, be helpful. Try to be active and respected.

In arguments, hold a strong position without flaming, and be nice to other's.

Also, you need to have been here for a long time. A year at the least.

I admire your optimism in thinking the search feature would stop these kinds of posts!

I find it funny that no matter how many of these kind of threads appear, the members list their advice on how to become a moderator.

Your name successfully damns any chance of you ever moderating on this website.

Moderators are chosen by Bungie. They do not request the position. In other words, you don't ask to be a moderator. Moderators are people from the community that Bungie comes to trust to handle being a mod. The nickname "IwannabeModeratr" is, at best, suspicious.

PS. I think I best described it as "You don't ask to be in mod club. Mod club asks to be in you."

I've been around these parts for almost eight years now...wow! Maybe I should be concerned about that...

Wanna be...anyways, mods are normal members, normal people, who the people at bungie think are mature enough to be mods. So, follow the rules, don't act stupid, and report rule-breakers to the Mods.

Unless you are really helpful and totally awesome, an exception may be made :).

(I just said a year because that's how long it usually takes to get a good reputation, be respected, etc.)

Mod club asks to be in you? ^_^

Better wording would be "You don't look for moderators. They look for you."

But that's just my opinion.

The easiest way to find out if you have what it takes to be a Mod is to simply ask me. I think you're worthy, then the Mods most likely do too. After all, we all know who they worship.

They must be auflly picky, fragula has been around since 2002 and has created a theme yet still isn't a moderator. What were the moderators doing in the community before they were made moderator? I never noticed them on the forums.
