Subject: Question about Dual Wield

When i'm dual wielding 2 smgs in halo 3 and i press Y to change to my secondary weapon (battle rifle) i always drop my 2nd smg. Does the same thing happen in halo 2

Yes it did but in the beta for Halo 2 it didn't [if you saw it happen before]

i was watching this live demo for halo 2 and it showed master chief fighting in new mombasa. He starts off with a br and an smg. this wounded marine gives him another smg and he dual wields. master chief uses the dual smg for awhile then switches to br. when he switched to br the 2nd smg did not drop.

exactly the real game forces you to drop one of the weapons

They most likely cut it out for gameplay reasons. I can see a few ways it could be abused in matchmaking.
