Poll: Is "Annual" fun? [closed]
Total Votes: 28
Besides the plot, I feel that one of the most memorable aspects of the Halo 3 campaign was the Annual challenge. It tested a lot of things: teamwork, ingenuity, quick-mindedness, patience, and dedication. For some, it was a genuine challenge. Assembling four people to commit for what could be two hours of this was no small feat, especially in the Halo 3 campaign days when you could not quit out of campaign without ending the game for all those involved. And often nobody in the party had done the challenge before, which only complicates matters. Annual, no doubt, can be very challenging at first, even to the point of frustration and anger.
But, after a few runs, I began to like Annual. Whenever a friend or a friend of a friend needed help (and assuming I had the time) I was always willing to help out with the challenge. With each successive run, I learned more and more tricks - shortcuts, the best routes, etc. - and was happy to pass those tips to others. After four or five runs, I was really beginning to enjoy the Achievement.
In fact, I'd have to say one of my favorite Halo-related memories is a small party a friend of mine held to help our friends get the achievement. We had two Xboxes - one hooked up to his projector, and another to a small LCD computer screen. We all recovered our accounts and set up a system link between the two 'boxes (while connected to live) to eliminate lag. It was an absolute blast. We had fun playing the game, yelling at each other about messing up, and completing the challenge. Even though it took us upwards of an hour-and-a-half, it was amazingly fun and we all had a blast.
So, personal anecdotes aside, what is your opinion on Annual? Fun or not?
