I played PC for the first time today, and have some questions.

First off, the game is great, I love being able to play Halo online, but I HATE the mouse and keyboard. Will I get used to it quickly? Or should I just give in and use that adapter for the XBox Controller?

Second, WHY is there no Blood Gulch on my Map list? I don't like that...at all. I WANNA PLAY BLOOD GULCH!

Third....how can I find out what type of video card I have? Because Campaign is running horribly slow, and I don't know why. I lowered most of the graphics and effects, any advice to speed up and smoothen gameplay?

1. Stick with the mouse and keyboard. It is the father of all game input devices. Tweak sensitivity and controls as needed. I've customed my controls so that it's easier to switch weapons while performing other actions.

2. BG is definitely on Halo PC. Uninstall and reinstall. BG should be there. If not, something's wrong with your disc, it's probably been scratched right where the install file for BG is.

to figure out which videocard you have click on start > control panel > performace and maintainence > see basic information about your computer > hardware > device manager > and finally click on the + sign beside display adapters and it will tell you what it says.

after you do this post what card you have.

Already re-installed, and nothing's there.

No scratches whatsoever...

I can play Blood Gulch when I don't create the game......

Um, I can't see any "performance and maintainence." Where is it?

not that it matters not, but you could've right clicked on your desktop, hit properties, and then settings to find your video card adapter.

just for future reference :D

All well and dandy, but is it a good enough card, or what?

And what about the absense of Blood Gulch???

The game wouldn't load if it was missing one of its critical map files. Just telling you, I've tried it before and it has never started up if it's missing something, at least for me...

It works, I can play everything, even Blood Gulch....if someone else starts the game.

And I checked everything last night, here's my system specs:

NVidia GeForce FX 5500 - 256 MB
AMD Sempron(tm) 3000+ - 2.01 GHz
512 MB Ram

Now, you look at the minimum requirements for Halo PC:

Video Card - 32 MB
Processor -733 MHz
128 MB Ram

I have WELL over the minimum, so why is the game nearly unplayable when I play any level besdies POA?

Is my card not "3D T & L Capable?" Or should I change my refresh rate to mirror the 85 Hz Refresh Rate for my video card?

I had the same problem when I first purchased Halo, except I could see all the maps. I also had many other issue's with my computer, so I dumped the hard drive. This fixed everything, but lost alot of music files and other stuff. Not sure if you should do this. Do some more research and then decide.

Wish I could help more.

Good luck.

click host game lan

then hit the down arrow once and this is what you should see:

screen shot

if it isnt... youre seriously messed.

as for dumping the hard drive... and all those music files... theres something called cds and dvds for backup or even extra hard disks or networked computers.

you may not need to dump the hard drive
there are probably settings in display settings for performance in games
usually you want it on balanced. if you have it on best quality settings, then usually it kills frames

I know what the words Blood Gulch look like, thanks.

It's not there, I'm not blind for God's sake.

And if you read what I had typed, EVERYTHING is on lowest quality. EVERYTHING.

The level Halo is unplayable, the frame speed is redicuously slow.

I'll get a printscreen of what I see on my map list.

I guess I should clarify why I had to dump my hard drive. I am perfectly aware of "cd's" and "dvd's," but thanks anyways. My problem was much worse. When I could access my desktop and Halo it would run very slow in campaign and multiplayer. Eventually my pc would freeze on startup. That is why I dumped everything.

Needless to say, now my pc is lean and mean. Play's Halo like a champ now. The pc is a very complicated machine. Trial and error are your best friends.

Sorry I could not be more help. This forum will help you, just be patient.

Oh...I have since partitioned my hard drive. If I ever run into the same problem, I don't have to lose everything.....Something to think about.
